35 1/2: Bonus!

One Month Later

Things have been better.

After the tragic event of Hopper's death, El has been living with the Byers. Since then, she has also gotten back together with Mike.

But Max and Y/n have been going strong for a while now, and they decided that it was time to tell their friends.

The couple decided to tell Will first, considering he knew about Y/n's feelings first, and didn't think any different of her.

They would also tell El while they were there, since she was now living with them.

So Max and Y/n stood outside of the Byer's front door.

"You ready?" Y/n looked at Max. The redhead nodded. "Yeah."

Y/n knocked on the door, and Joyce answered. "Hey, girls. Everything okay?" She asked the two, who looked at each other before nodding. "Yeah," Max told her. "Yeah, we just wanted to talk to Will, is he home?"

"Yeah, he's just in his room, come in."

Max and Y/n followed Joyce to Will's room. Joyce knocked on her youngest son's door.

"Yes?"

"Will, honey, your friends are here, they wanna talk to you. Can they come in?" Joyce asked through the door. They didn't hear a response from Will. Not before he opened the door.

"Oh, hey, guys," Will smiled at his friends. "What's up?"

Y/n looked at Max. "We just wanted to tell you something."

"Okay," Will said, opening his door more so Max and Y/n could enter. Joyce smiled at the three before walking away.

"So, what's up?" Will asked the pair, who sat on the edge of his bed.

"Uh," Y/n thought about how to say it. "I mean, there's not really another way of saying it..." She looked at her girlfriend again. "So, Max and I are dating," Y/n told the boy.

"Oh," Will smiled. "Oh, that's great, guys!" The boy was now beaming. "Yeah, I'm happy for you two."

Y/n and Max smiled at Will. "I mean, you were the first to find out when I had a crush on Max, so I felt like you should be the first to know this," Y/n told him. Will smiled again, and the three's attention turned to the door being opened.

It was El, and she seemed kind of worried. "What's wrong?"

"Oh, hey, El!" Y/n smiled. "No, nothing's wrong. Actually, we wanted to tell you something."

"Yeah," Max agreed.

"What is it?" El asked, speaking softly.

"So... Y/n and I are dating," Max told the brunette.

"Oh," El said, not really seeming surprised. It wasn't like she didn't know about the girls's feelings for each other. "Okay. I'm happy for you."

"Uh, thanks," Y/n nodded. "We're happy too."

El nodded in response and left the room.

"That was..." Y/n thought about what to call it. "Actually, I'm not that surprised with her reaction."

Max laughed and stood up, reaching a hand for Y/n to take, which she did, also standing up. "Okay, well," Y/n started. "We just wanted to tell you."

"Okay," Will nodded. "Thanks. Congrats, guys."

"Thanks, Will," Y/n smiled before leaving the room. "Well, that went well," she told Max with a grin.

The redhead turned her head to her girlfriend. "Don't get ahead of yourself, we knew they'd be easy."

"True. It's Mike and Lucas that might be tricky."

"Mhm."
