This song is about Matty Healy (lead singer of The 1975)

Your little brother never tells you but he loves you so (Matty has a little brother named Louis who's 14)

You said your mother only smiled on her TV show (Matty's mom has a TV show and she struggles with depression)

You're only happy when your sorry head is filled with dope (Matty does drugs)

I hope you make it 'til the day you're 28 years old (in reference to the 27 club and Matty also turned 26 in April so the age fits)

You're dripping like a saturated sunrise, you're spilling like an overflowing sink, you're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece and I'm tearing through the pages and the ink (even though he does drugs and is damaged she still loves him and thinks he's beautiful inside and out)

Everything is blue, his pills, his hands his jeans, and now I'm covered in the colors pulled apart at the seems, and it's blue and it's blue (he rubs off on her so much, he affects and imprints her)

Everything is grey, his hair, his smoke his dreams, and now he's so devoid of color he don't know what it means (him burning out like losing everything, not even knowing what color is ((metaphorically)) and Matty smokes)
