"We're not here for you. We're here for a prisoner."

―The Mandalorian

It had been a few weeks since you and Mando became partners, and you couldn't have asked for anything better. You also witnessed how Gorgu thrived under his care and how he blossomed into a little being. It would be advantageous to have someone else look after your young ward when you are away hunting, or during the times you are navigating through hyperspace on the ship.

"Are you feeling well?" Mando inquired as he approached you in the hull, finding you seated there, humming and engaging with Gorgu. You glanced at Mando and retorted, "Indeed, shouldn't I be?" you asked, tilting your head slightly.

Mando sighed as you chuckled, tapping your tail on the floor. Baby Yoda understood and scuttled away to the cot. You gazed at the Mandalorian, locking eyes with him. "You can confide in me, Din," you purred, extending a wing to reveal your side, reminiscent of that night when he sought comfort in your presence.

He shook his helmet and sighed, but didn't lean into your embrace this time. "It's nothing really, but we are heading to a space station to meet with some of my old... acquaintances," he said reluctantly. Your eyes scrutinized him, not harshly but still discerning. He felt diminished, overwhelmed by the sensation that he, the supposed hunter, was now the one intimidated into submission by you, without you even taking any overt action.

"I understand," you rumbled, finally breaking the silence, then casting a glance at the child who was cooing to himself. "Will he be safe?" you asked. Mando nodded, "Yes, we are going to leave him on the ship. I won't take any chances with him by our side," he said.

You hummed, then meticulously trimmed your sharp black claws on the metal floor before standing up, already towering over Mando. He watched as you sauntered to the cot, Gorgu cooing at you and reaching towards your snout, which you allowed him to touch. You then gently lapped his face, causing him to squeal and giggle, while you simply cooed, your ears twitching. Eventually, you turned to Mando and inclined your head. "We had better proceed then, if we are in need of the credits that you humans rely on," you remarked.

Mando nodded and then ascended the ladder to the cockpit, while you remained in the hull, hoping and silently beseeching any higher powers out there that this mission would progress swiftly and smoothly. Yet, since when have the gods ever heeded your pleas?

Well, those companions of his were not of the finest caliber, oh no.

You hissed as you saw a purple-skinned Twi'lek female nearly strike Mando in the neck with her knife. Your tail whipping around her waist stopped her, and your hot breath in her ear freed her, "Touch my cyare, and I will surely ensure your death will be long and harsh." You sneered and then let her go, making her stumble to the floor. "Okay, okay, no need to go around killing each other," the portly man said, his belly jiggling as he stepped between you and the two. You stared at the fat man, snarled in a loud trembling tone, "Stay off, cur." You then stepped back and slithered to Mando's side, feeling his eyes on you even though you couldn't see them. You just gave him a brief, intense look, and he sighed.

And then, you all were briefed on the mission to spring out some of their own, enough trouble staying afloat. As if we don't have enough trouble evading the Empire's radar, now we have to avoid the New Republic's as well, you thought, curling your claws into the metal floor. This was just getting better.
