Honestly, nobody knows why. It kinda started when you both were kids and growing up in the suburbs. You two lived in the same neighborhood, and when you both met, it just clicked.
I feel like you both would get 'married' as a joke in first-second grade. Velvet got all of her friends and some other people to be guests at the 'wedding', due to her being popular.
That's kinda where he realized that he would start crushing on you, but you wouldn't realize until fourth grade, but you never talked about it. Neither would him.
Fast forward years later, you both met again. You were staying in Mount Rageous for a while to Velvet because she reached out. Little did you know that both of the siblings were famous Mount Rageons💀
You were surprised when you got there, and Velvet did a tour, and then you met Veneer again. He wouldn't have thought that he would see you again after all this time. He would be a bit awkward around you, but after a few minutes he would grow on you again.
('Grow' as in having a crush all over again.)
