CHAPTER ONE

Macy peeped through the iron bars of the balustrade, arching her slender neck to get a better view of him. There he was crouching over his bar tool, sipping his beer. He threw a handful of peanuts into his mouth. Macy watched, transfixed to the spot, on her knees, as he chewed, watched his jaws move methodically before he swallowed the peanuts and took another gulp of his beer.

Twain Crawford....So gorgeous...so devastatingly arresting. She'd been secretly admiring him for months. She'd often come to her brother's pub during the weekends to help out, but only in the kitchen. Donald her brother never allowed her to serve in the bar. He did not want men lustfully hankering after his baby sister.

If only Twain would notice her. If only she could be his. What did she have to do for him to notice her? He'd been coming to the bar every night so far this week and every night she hoped he'd look up and see her; instead he was always thronged by women and heartbreakingly, every night he left with a different woman on his arm. Damn it! Macy had to do something. She decided she would have to break out of her mould and make Twin notice her.

But would he be interested in her considering their six year age gap? He probably thought she was still a baby. It was now or never, Macy decided. Tonight is the night, Macy thought trying to work up her courage. It had to be tonight. Her brother Donald was out on a date. He would not be back till after midnight. This was the only night Macy had to pull of her stunt. It's now or never! She nervously stood up pulling her short dress lower, but it did not budge an inch.

Her brother Donald owned this plush two storey bar in Sandton, north of Johannesburg. Upstairs was the private loft where she used the guest bedroom, and Don had a fancy suite for himself. Her brother had named the bar, The Don. Tonight an amazing opportunity had sealed her destiny. Her mom had needed to go away on a trip to Cape Town for a week. As Macy was in her final year in high school, her mom had asked Donald to take care of Macy for the week. Don watched his sister like a hawk. He allowed no guy to get too close to his baby sister. So tonight whilst Don was out, Macy enacted her plan.

Her hand gently sliding over the polished woodwork over the rail, she descended the stairs, sashaying down , bypassing the security guards Don utilized to protect his bar and its patrons. She smiled politely at the two men in security uniforms and took a seat at the bar, far from where Twain sat, but still allowing him to catch a perfect bird's eye view of her in her red silk number.

'A coke Macy?' The barman enquired with a smile.

'Could you make it a Sprite tonight please? She requested.

'Coming up?' He winked and busied himself preparing her order.

'Thanks,' she murmured and shifted her eyes to where Twain sat.

He was chuckling at something the guy next to him said, as everybody close by broke out in laughter. Clearly it was a dirty joke. They all looked so smug. Macy continued to sip from her glass. Every so often her eyes would stray to Twain, before she would force her eyes back. Don't make yourself too obvious, she cautioned herself. 'I must not let him know, I want him.'  Macy stood up from her stool, her back to Twain, she picked up her drink and purposefully looked around.  She was tall and slender and in her red cocktail dress, you had to be blind not to notice her. Her short jet black hair, styled in bob, shaped her beautiful, angular face and as she lifted her glass of Sprite to her lips, it was then that he noticed her.

Twain was about to get the barman's attention to order another round of drinks, when he spotted the tall, leggy bombshell, with her jet black hair in his periphery. He had never seen anyone look so angelic...so sexy...so desirable. He forgot about ordering a round of drinks and just stared at the attractive woman.
