Friends! Chap. 15

A squawk was heard, in fact it was very loud "CAW!! CAW!! L/N Y/N YOU'RE ASSIGNED TO TOMIOKA GIYUU FOR A MISSION!!!" Ray squawked. I yawned loudly, but my eyes snapped open realizing what Ray had said.

'ME?! AND TOMIOKA IN A MISSION?!'

Maybe realizing wasn't the best idea... since not only happy thoughts stored my mind but... other different thoughts too.  I sat up like lightning speed. I ran towards my bathroom and showered briefly. I couldn't smell when you're travelling with someone! I hardly get missions with other people, especially when that people is the water pillar.

After washing myself, more clean than usual, i dressed up in my uniform and wore my snow haori. The familiar cloth touched my skin, after going through rehabilitation training, i feel like i just grew stronger! I looked at myself in the mirror, checking if I look alright.

'Weird, i don't know why i want to seem perfect to him... not like he is my boyfriend...'

Just one singular word made all the blood rush through my face, my heart squeals and beats fast. I tried calming down but the thoughts of me and Tomioka sharing our time together was just too much to just forget. A knock on the shoji made all my thoughts snap in an instant. I calmed myself down, not letting my blush ruin the facade i kept.

I opened the shoji to see a mismatched haori man, with beautiful black locks that seemed so fluffy "L/N?" Giyuu touched my shoulder, didn't effect me much, just a singular touch, right? wrong. My face tinted red as i took his hand off my shoulder "Y-yup, just fine. Let's go shall we?" I mouthed as he nodded. We took off, heading towards Kamakura village. I had trouble catching up with him, i was afraid i would drag him down with my slow pace.

Because of my struggle, he had to slow down. I felt really embarrassed and guilty for making him slow down because of me. Maybe if i became faster we would be there right now. I sigh, this was my problem, my self-esteem was too low. Giyuu looked at me, wondering why I sighed. He shrugged it off, it wasn't his business asking anyways.

We arrived once the sun has set. The bright blue sky not fading to a dark blue. Soon it'll fade to black, but the radiant celestial stars were high in the sky. Their never-ending glow looming before us. I was stargazing for a while that i didn't notice my comrade had been asking around for any information about the demon here.

 I mentally face palmed. ' Great, not only am i a burden, but am useless as well! Great am SO useful' I grip my hands tightly but slowly let them go. The moon shimmers, showing my shadow, but another black figure appeared in front of me. I raise my head to see Giyuu with his blank stare as always "It's just a low-class demon, from what i heard it eats woman, so you better stay close." He stated blankly, i replied with a nod which he seemed okay with.

We patrolled for a while, but there seemed to be no sign of any man eating demons. We kept walking in silence, although it wasn't awkward, no, it was calm. I felt relieved of the atmosphere we kept "Maybe we should split up, it will be way faster for us to locate the demon." I suggested, halting in my tracks and looking at the man for approval.

He only nodded and kept walking away. I figured i was the one who had to adjust. I leaped onto a roof, i went in the opposite direction as him. After a few minutes of jumping from house to house, I smelt a stench that was just nearby the forest. 'Gross, do demons even wipe their ass?'

I rolled my eyes but smiled because of my own joke. I followed the stench, keeping my guard up for any ambush. The air positioning had changed, i fell to the ground by instinct. Turns out, the demon had lunged at me but lucky for me, my gut feeling had saved me from danger once again. I unsheathed my sword and wasted no time. In just a split second i already beheaded the demon, the smell of ashes had revealed itself to my nostrils.
