Inna’s POV
Bad trip, ako pa ang inutusan na ibigay yung copy nay un sa kanya. BWISIT! I’m so not in the mood pa naman. Kakainis ka talaga kuya!. KAINIS!!.. Ayun tuloy, a lot of people have staring at me. I hate it when people stare at me. I HATE IT! Bumalik ako sa Bahay at dun na tumambay the whole time. I stayed at the kitchen and opened a book. I studied for hours not realizing that I fell asleep. Yes, nahalata niyo siguro, parati akong natutulog. I don’t know why, pero, ganito na talaga ako. Ever since then, I always fell asleep easily. Habit ko na yun siguro. I slept for hours, but suddenly I woke up when there was a sound coming from my phone. Kuya was calling me again. Siguro para may mautusan na naman siya.
“oh?”
“Inna, Asan ka?”
“Sa Bahay, bakit?”
“I don’t want you to panic or anything, pero si Timmy kasi,”
Shet, ano na naman ba ang nangyari!? “Ano kuya!? What happened to him?”
“he fell down the stairs. It seemed like one of the students fell on him and accidentally pushed him down the stairs.”
“Asan siya ngayon!?”
“Nasa Hospital, I’d be best if you went there right now.”
“okay, I’ll be there. Sige kuya.”
“mag-ingat ka.”
I rushed down the stairs and took my bike out of the garage. Dali-dali akong pumunta sa Hospital. When I asked them where his room was, tumakbo na lang ako, I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to him. He was my responsibility, and besides I promised my mom I would take care of him. Then I was there, he was laying on the bed, asleep. I checked if anything might be wrong, good thing wala namang may nangyaring malala. I sat down beside him. I held his hand. Suddenly, naramdaman ko ang kamay niyang nakapatong sa ulo ko. Napaiyak na lamang ako.
“Ate, ok lang ako.”
Di pa rin ako napatigil. I can’t let anything bad happen to him, not again, not ever. Walang pwedeng mangyari sa kanya. It can’t happen again.
“ate, ok lang ako. Nothing bad happened. So, tama na ang drama..”
“okay.. titigil na ako.”
“good.” He said habang nakatingi sa akin.
Napangiti na rin ako. Good thing at walang bad na nangyari sa kanya. Mabuti na lang.
“So anong kailangan mo? I think I should go out and go buy you something to eat. Anong gusto mong kainin?”
“ahm.. ice cream. Gusto kong kumain ng ice cream.”
“sige, bibili ako, but tell mom I’m buying okay?”
“okay.”
“I’ll be back. I’ll also bring you a change of clothes okay?”
“okay.”
“stay put.”
Nang lumabas ako sa kwarto niya, nakita ko ang asungot na nasa labas rin nakaupo. Nilapitan ko at nakitang nakatulog na rin ito, then I noticed, his arm had a bandage on. Ano kaya ang nangyari? Anyways, why should I care? Lumabas na ako sa hospital at binili at kinuha ang mga kailangan ni Timmy. Pagbalik ko, nasa loob na rin siya.
“anong ginagawa mo dito?”
“binbisita siya.”
“bakit naman?”
Biglang umupo si Timmy. “Ate, actually, si kuya Jan ang sumalo sa akin ng mahuhulog ako.”
Sinalo niya si Timmy? “teka ano ba talaga ang nangyari? Sang hagdan ka ba talaga nahulog ha?”
“sa College department ate, may pinapabigay kasing letter ang head teacher sa kay kuya, so inutusan niya akong ibigay yun.”
“wait, you walked from the Elementary Department to the College Department!?”
“opo..”
“dammit, sino ba ang teaher na yan? He’s supposed to know that you’re not supposed to be ordered around kasi may Asthma ka!. Tell me his name.”
“ate, wag.. wag na.. besides ako naman ang naginsist eh, so anyways, si kuya jan nga ang nakasalo sa akin at wala namang nagyari sa akin, pero, siya kasi, natama yung shoulder niya sa railing kaya ayun, di niya magalaw. Sabi nang doctor, may fracture daw.”
“hey, it’s no big deal. Magheheal naman to eh.”
He saved his life. I haven’t said these words for a very long time to other people but I’ll say it once. Humarap ako sa kanya then said, “Thank you.” Bigla siyang napanganga ng narinig niya ang sinabi ko. Surprised much?
“ah.. you’re welcome.” Napangiti siya.
To return back the favor I smiled towards him, suddenly his face turned red.
