If you're interested in becoming a mentor and you are in the Wattpad Creators program, an Exclusive or Paid Stories writer, a published author, repped by a literary agent, or a trained editor, please read the first chapter in our Profile Guide to learn more. You can then message us in a PM or leave an inline comment. We will be in touch.
March 13th to 17th: WELCOME WEEK
Official BCM kickoff will begin this week. Folks can greet each other and share details about their work. We love this part, as it gives us a chance to see new faces and welcome returning writers. You can do this in the Welcome chapter, or join our Discord channel. You will find the link in our bio.
March 18th through April 29th: ASK A MENTEE Q&A SESSIONS (Discord Only)
We are bringing back our Ask A Mentee sessions. They proved to be very popular last year. These are live Q&As hosted by our former mentees, who will make themselves available on BCM's Discord server for two hours every Saturday during our workshop series.
March 20th to April 28th: WORKSHOPS (open at 8am Eastern time)
Every year our workshops focus on writing loglines, blurbs, summaries, and creating professional-looking covers. But we always host a surprise workshop the first week, and this year we'll focus on hook and pacing. All workshops are meant to be collaborative, meaning anyone can share their wisdom. We love to see everyone participating, whether or not you're submitting to a bootcamp mentor or still working on your Wattys story.
May 1st: RELEASE OF MENTOR LIST (posted at 11am Eastern time)
Meet the mentors. Read their bios and check out their wish lists. Your job is to make sure your manuscript fits their requirements. Then head to their profiles and take a peek at their work to see if their style and genre is a good match for you. Don't hesitate to ask questions of our mentors at this time. They're ready and willing to engage with you.
Once you've done your homework, pick up to three mentors you would like to submit to. Show a little love by following them, and maybe adding a story to your reading list. It's not a requirement but certainly follows the Wattpad spirit.
May 10th to May 15th: SUBMISSION WINDOW OPEN (opens at 11am Eastern time, closes at 11:59pm Eastern time)
Make sure you submit all the required information on time through the form that will be linked in our Submission Form chapter of this book on May 10th. We will also make the form available in the #general-announcements channel on discord. Late submissions will not be accepted.
May 16th to May 30th: MENTORS WILL REVIEW YOUR SUBMISSIONS
Mentors will read exclusively on Wattpad, so make sure your story is available on your profile and it is the latest version. It should be edited to the best of your ability.
May 31st: MENTEE LIST IS RELEASED (posted at 11am Eastern time)
Time to find out who made the cut and congratulate them. If you were not chosen, try not to be discouraged. One of the most important traits of successful authors is perseverance. Feel free to return to the workshop channels / chapters and review the tips and advice shared there to get your story ready for the Wattys.
June 1st to June 4th: CRITIQUE PARTNER SEARCH
This initiative is open to everyone, but we especially encourage those who were not chosen as a mentee this year. If you were unable to submit your Wattys story to the mentors for any reason, we encourage you to participate as well. And if you're just joining us, you're welcome too. We only require that you participate with a story you intend to submit to the Wattys. These channels will by available in our Discord server starting June 1st.
June 1st to August 8th: MENTEES AND MENTORS WORK TOGETHER TO POLISH THAT WATTYS MANUSCRIPT
Put plainly, you will be working hard to turn your Wattys story into something that excites and engages readers. It's time to revise, edit, and keep those refreshing beverages handy.
Sept 1st to Sept 12th: SHOWCASE
Mentees will introduce their stories through a special showcase in this book, featuring logline, blurb, first chapter, and cover. This is an opportunity for you to show off the story you've worked so hard on.
