As I get older, I start to love audiobooks or simply "text-to-speech" books. You can now listen to a book while traveling or doing other stuff. Many of the audiobooks I find on Wattpad are paid stories or fanfics.
There is one free audiobook that I find and it's called "Quiet" by JonLeePeto. It's about Makiko Lombardi, a Japanese-Italian girl living with her single mother in Tokyo, who seeks to find her father with the help of her best friend Cynthia and love interest Joel. Not only do they encounter the yakuza but also a demon who is attracted to our young protagonist.
I will not spoil the whole story so it's best you check it out yourselves. All I can say is it's one of those books which kept me glued and wanting to see what's next. It never bored me to death with the slow, mundane details. The characters are engaging and grounded as if I am likely to meet these people in real life. The overall writing is pretty solid.
It knows when to take it seriously and get to the chase. The reason why the author went with this title is because it's warning you about the consequences of praying to demons. They are always listening. I also heard the book has a sequel called "Loud" except it's a standard novel.
You guys should definitely check out "Quiet" if you're into Japanese culture and the supernatural stuff.
