"Embry, come on. You have to stand up." Ivanna pulled him up off of the ground, wrapping his arm around her shoulder, and her wrapping an arm around his waist. "You're burning up, we have to get you to a hospital."
"It hurts all over." He cried out, leaning his head against her shoulder, trying not to collapse on the girl.
"It's gonna be okay, Embry. I'm gonna get you back." She maneuvered her way through the woods, trying to ignore the ache in her own shoulders and arm as she mainly carried all of his weight.
She heard steps coming closer and closer, she looked to Embrys side to see a huge animal with dark grey fur, coming closer with a low growl as its eyes shifted between the girl and the boy.
She froze and whispered to him, "Embry, think you can manage to run?" she didn't want to make a move in fear that the giant wolf would mistake it as an attempt to attack.
Embry looked up from her shoulder to see the animal too, he jumped slightly in shock at it standing so close, watching them.
"You go. I'll try and distract it."
"I'm not leaving you." She clenched her jaw before deciding to grip his waist tighter making him run alongside her. It wasn't fast but at least it was closer to where she needed to get them.
He stumbled along with her as he tried to keep up with her pace, groaning at every movement. It became too much and he knew that he was just slowing her down so he let go of his hold, dropping to the ground in unbearable pain.
"Embry!" She yelled, running back to him.
"Just go Ivanna!" He yelled at her in anger, she wouldn't listen to him and this is the only way he could think of to make her leave.
A man ran out of the woods, not being able to get a good look at him before another followed along who Ivanna immediately recognized. "Thank God." She stood up off of the ground and ran over to him, grasping his hand as she pulled him towards Embry. "I was just taking a walk in the woods and next thing I know Embry came out of the trees and collapsed. Then we saw a very big wolf and it started to follow us, but I think we lost it."
"What were you doing in the woods? It's dangerous at night." Sam replied, his protectiveness coming out over his imprint already.
"I needed some fresh air, but it doesn't matter. Can you help me get him to the hospital?" She asked impatiently as she went back over to Embry to check on him.
"You need to step back." The other man Sam was with demanded as he held out an arm towards her in effort to block her away. When he looked at her she recognized it to be Paul who she met at Billy's.
