general questions to help guide you. feel free to answer them here if it's easier.

1. is your human or supernatural?

2. what characters are they friends with?

- why?
- how did they become friends?
- what is their friendship like
- what do other characters think about their friendship?

3. what characters do they not get along with?
- why?
- did they always not get along?
- how did they become enemies?

4. what characters are they related to if any?

5. who are their parents? are they supernatural? what about siblings? aunts or uncles? cousins? you don't need to go into detail about every family member just whoever played a key role in their upbringing, might not be blood relatives.

- if not supernatural

6. did they grow up in mystic falls/new orleans or did they move there? if they moved why?

7. how do they feel about the supernatural?

8. how do they react when they find out? or have they always known?

9. do they have a love interest? who?

10. do they have friends outside of the main characters?

11. what challenges do they face?

12. what do they want? what are their goals?

13. what episode would be best for them to enter?

14. how will they react to certain plots? which ones will be bigger for them?

15. what does your character add to the show that hasn't been seen?

16. is your character friends with certain characters because you like those characters or is it because they would actually get along? justify each friendship choice.

17. will your fanfic go through the whole 8 seasons?

18. will they switch over to the originals if they're introduced in the vampire diaries? will they be in both?

19. are they targeted by any villains? who? why?

20. how do they change dynamics of other relationships? for example, if your oc is stefan and damon's sister how do they change their dynamic?
