Felix's POV
"Why doesn't Des have a daddy?"

"I'm sorry. I don't know."

"I want a mommy."

"I know. I want you to have one too."

I helped her get off the counter. We started walking downstairs. Destiny and Mariposa were talking to my sister.

"Alright. Let's go."

When we were all in the car, I started driving. Destiny and Katrina were singing along with the radio.

"You know that you doing this proves you're a nice person right?"

"No. I-I have a hard time believing shit like that."

"Can I ask you something?"

"I guess."

"What happened to her mom? Do you guys still talk?"

"She died a few years ago."

"Oh no. I-I'm so sorry."

"It's fine."

"How old was Kat? Did she ever meet her?"

"Yeah. She met her. She went with her on a vacation to see her mom's family. I was busy so, I couldn't go. One day, she just showed up at the front door. Her eyes were red and puffy. She was hyperventilating. I asked her what was wrong and she told me."

"Do you know how?"

"No. Last I heard, nobody did. Here's what pisses me off. Her family, basically disowned Kat. They used to send card for birthdays and holidays but, they don't now."

"Oh god. Do you talk about her?"

"Sometimes. Trina'll ask questions and ask me to tell her about her mom. We both want her to have a mom. What about Desi's dad?"

"He uh...he's a deadbeat. He just abandoned us."

"Don't tell me he pulled the, "going out to get milk" card."

"Oh no. He didn't do that. He just gave up his rights."

"Daddy?"

"What's up?"

"Do you think, they'll have dolphins?"

"Uhhh those are at aquariums. Do you want to go there instead?"

"Can we?"

"Posa? Des? is that okay with you?"

"Mhm!"

"That works for me babe."

"Damn. I haven't been called that in years."

I drove us to an aquarium. I only needed to pay for two people since, the kids were free for the day. They started running ahead of us.

"Girls slow down!"

They stopped and we caught up to them.

"You two, can't run off like that."

"I'm sorry daddy."

"I'm sorry mommy."

We started walking.

"Oh daddy? Aunt Skysky was on the phone with someone."

"I know. She told me."

"Who was it?"

"No one important."

"I found the dolphins!"

Destiny grabbed Katrina's hand. They ran over to the dolphins.

"Who called?"

"My mom."

"And you consider her as "Not important"?"

"Yeah."

I looked around.

"Come here."

She got closer to me.

"she's abusive. the last time we saw her, i lost my daughter for a month." I whispered into her ear.

"Does she know that?"

"I don't know if, she remembers."

"Do you want her to?"

I shrugged.

"I don't know. If she does, she does. I can't help it."

"Is this why, you keep to yourself?"

"Yeah. You're lucky, I even told you that. Don't say anything."

"Did her mom know this?"

I shook my head.

"She died before it happened. When Carmella died, I started freaking out."

"Do you think about her?"

"Sometimes. It's too painful so, I try not to."

"So you bottle it up?"

"I guess. Don't get me wrong. I don't hide it all from Kat. I'll say random things that, I think'll make her happy for at least a moment or two."

"This proves another point. You're not an asshole. You're a sweet person."
