"I can feel it, you know."

"Feel what?"

She adjusts herself to look at them. They stay facing forward, keeping their eyes down.

"You feel empty."

She tried covering up the concern with a curious yet confused look.

"You've tried all your life to feel something, anything, because at one point all you felt was everything. Now all you know is the nagging of the void."

There was a moment of silence before she spoke up, "Is there something wrong with me?"

They shook their head and looked over at her. "No. I don't think there's anything 'wrong' per se," they made quotations. "I just think something happened to you, and now your nervous system is trying to learn how to cope while protecting you."
