You never really liked listening to people, some folk would say you were like Moominpapa or worse than Little My, some even compared you more to Sniff.
In reality, no one in Moomin valley actually knew why you didn't like listening to authority, you had your reasoning behind your actions, the things you said, how disapproving you could be.
Though, some people find that attractive in a person.

You grew up in Moomin valley with your brother, both of you living close to the shoreline of the endless ocean.
You went from a small child with anger problems to a grown adult with slightly less anger problems.
Growing up, you became friends with the children of Moomin Valley, specifically the small group of ragtag troublemakers who went on more adventures then anyone you'd ever met.
Little My was your best friend and it wasn't incorrect to assume you and My had rubbed off on each other over the years.
Sniff irritated you to no end, but you still loved him.
Moomin and Snorkmaiden were very friendly, but you'd be lying if you said you weren't a bit sick of their on and off relationship.
Snufkin...Snufkin was cool- no further comment.

Today was actually the spring festival, a celebration of the return of the valley's plant life and the end of hibernation season.
You didn't really have a feeling of what you were that day, so you decided to go with something a bit more androgynous and comfortable for your spring look of the day.
Some short, baggy overalls and a plain short sleeved shirt was perfect, along with the boots that you definitely didn't buy just to be a little taller than Snufkin.

You didn't hibernate, you refused to, no matter how much your body begged for it.
You didn't want to spend your winter and all those months snoozing away!
A quick goodbye to your brother and a small walk along the beach line later, you made it to the party, smiling at the sight of everyone bringing in dishes and smaller children running around, pretending to be pirates if you heard correctly.
My spotted you immediately, like she'd been scoping for you,

"Hey! He's here! C'mon Sniff!" Sniff whined as he was tugged away from the food table, you'd be honest, if you were dragged away from Mama's cooking, you'd be whining too.
My ran up with Sniff in tow and exchanging a fist bump with both of them, the three of you settled yourselves under a large birch tree, watching the party go on,

"Soooo~ is this the daaaay?~" did it just get hotter out?
You looked down at My with wide eyes and a flushed-feeling face,

"Wh-what? I don't know what you're talking about." She groaned, punching you hard enough in the shoulder to make you flinch,

"You know exactly what I'm talking about! Even Sniff knows and he's as oblivious as oblivious gets!" Sniff turned, looking mock offended,

"Hey! I am not!" My quirked a ginger eyebrow,

"Say that to the ants on your legs." Sniff squealed, jumping up and batting down at his legs, making My cackle, but you kept grimacing,

"Awe Cmon (Y/n)! Snufkin would be lucky to date someone like you! You've been pining over him sense we were kids!" You shook your head stubbornly, pursing your lips to keep yourself from smiling like an idiot.
You said no further comment, you meant no further comment,

"You can't avoid him forever or something." Rolling your eyes, you shrugged,

"Watch me." My sighed,

"You're dumb."

"Why is she dumb?" You all jumped at the voice you hadn't noticed approach, you knew that green outfit and calm vibe all too well,

"He's dumb because-" you slapped a hand over My's mouth, muffling her from revealing your darkest secret,

"I'm dumb because I didn't realize- uh- that....I'm just dumb!" Snufkin quirked a confused eyebrow and you felt the creeping claws of embarrassment make their way into your head, you really were dumb.
You snatched your hand away from My's jaws when she bit down on your palm with enough force to bruise, causing you to hiss,

"Rude!" My smirked like the evil little gremlin she was, sharp teeth poking through,

"And I'd do it again!" Snufkin sat himself beside you, knees touching as he gently took your stinging hand into his, brushing over the light bite marks with the soft pads of his mumrick hands,

"Did you really have to bite so hard My?" My giggled behind her hand, raising her eyebrows at you in a knowing fashion while Snufkin was distracted with your injury-

Oh she planned this.

You focused back on Snufkin and the light touches on your hand that soothed the dull ache,

"Are you alright (Y/n)? I wouldn't want your newest scar to be that of Little My's canines." You snorted a bit, letting him do what he wished,

"I'm alright, she's done worse." That was true, you both had many scars and stories, you and My were the most chaotic duo in the valley, it was all bound to happen,

Snufkin brought your hand up to his mouth, gently pecking the inside of your palm, peeking at you through the gaps in your fingers as you gasped a barely audible gasp,

"My apologies, I couldn't help myself." Snufkin put your hand down as you tried to relieve some of the tense atmosphere with some playful banter,

"I get it, I'm irresistible." The moment was ruined by My fake gagging while rising up from the shade,

"Sniff and I are gonna get food, see you lovebirds later." Sniff was once again dragged off by My, leaving you and Snufkin alone,

"Lovebirds huh?" You felt your face heat once again, rolling your eyes at what My had done,

"Psh- you wish." Snufkin leaned in slightly, a few inches away, too close to be strictly platonic,

"I do wish." It was only a slight whisper and it made you tense, did he just?...
Gentle fingers gently tilting your jaw and a quick peck to your cheek was all you registered and then Snufkin was gone, heading towards the party with his hat suspiciously pulled down.
You put a hand to your cheek, eyes wide and sparkling- he kissed you.
