Chapter 11: Nights like these make me happy

As we finished eating I started to think again of the news we had gotten

As Neji brought out the mochi I decided to bring up the subject

"Neji... did they tell you that the Masked Man declared war on all 5 nations" I said looking away from him

"Once I arrived to Konoha we were told" Neji said as he walked towards the couch with the tray of mochi's

"I still don't believe it" i said

"Well sadly it's happening" Neji said

I took a bite of the mochi and put my head on his chest. I can hear his heartbeat, he feels so warm even if it's cold here in Konoha.

In the morning I left early for a mission. On the way back I stopped in a small town to find a gift for Tenten, or something we could both have that reminds us of each other

I walk around and I see a jewelry shop. I walk in and a older lady greeted me

"What are you looking for young man?" The old lady asked

"I'm looking for something nice to give to my girl- my crush" I said. I had forgotten that I hadn't asked out yet. I was planning on to and once I had found the perfect gift I would ask her out

"Well what does your crush like? Is she a kunoichi? Does she like gold or silver jewelry?" The old lady asked

"She is a active kunoichi of Konoha and she likes silver jewelry" i replied as i looked at jewelry display

"Well in that case let me get my granddaughter to help me get some jewelry from other displays" said the old lady

"You must really like that girl" said the lady as she walked away

"I do ma'am, i really do" I said with a smile on my face

She made me happy

I started to look around. I was never the type of guy to wear jewelry but I wanted to have something special for us. Something special for her

Then the lady came back with a few more displays

"Young man here there are you can take your time and look around. If you need help just let me or my granddaughter know" she said

I started to look at the rings. She had promise rings, i knew Tenten didn't like flashy jewelry. I saw a two beautiful rings one had a small red heart in the middle of it along with another small details. The other one had small dainty diamond with two smaller ones on the side

I couldn't choose which one to buy

I find charms, i decided to create her own charm bracelet. I first get a little kunai charm then a shiruken. I find a butterfly charm and a sunflower charm.

"Ma'am how much would it be if I got a charm bracelet and 4 little charms?" I asked

"I'm gonna give you a deal my young man, just by the way you are taking your time choosing and deciding which charms to buy for your crush. Which ever ring you choose it will be free"

"No ma'am pleaseee let me at least pay for half of the price" i said

"No no no, you remind me alot of my late husband he was a shinobi too. He passed away in the 3rd great ninja war. He's the reason I opened up this shop" she said

"Sure, i'll also add two of those crystal bracelets. My crush shes into fortune telling and crystals so I know she'll like it if we have matching bracelets. Can you please wrap up the ring with the red heart" i said

"Sure, that will be 14,500 yen" the lady said as she carefully grabbed the ring and wrapped it up

I payed and i left with the bag in hand. Next to the shop there was a candy shop. I went in got some new candy and even got some baked goods for me and Lady Hinata along with the foxy brat.

After I was done I hurried back home. To give the report that everything was good. The rice patty land was doing great.

Now all I had to do was find a good time to give this to Tenten

I was informed about the war once I arrived. I knew I had to give this to her before it started.

I could visibility notice that Tenten was worried

She layed her head on my chest and I knew she could hear my heart. I would get a bit nervous with her around me. I wrapped my arms around her making her feel safe.

"Tenten i love you" i said i could feel my heart beating faster

"Neji Hyuga i love you with all my heart" she said as she made eye contact with me

I couldn't stop myself and as I put my hands around her face gently I pull her in for a kiss. This reminded me of our first kiss.

"This reminded me of the time you kissed me after the first chunin exams" Tenten said with a smile as she was blushing

"Same, that was my first kiss" i said

"You stole my first kiss Neji" Tenten said

"Well it's not my fault, i had a crush on you and you showed up to check up on me. I was just in the moment" i said trying to look away from Tenten

"And also that other kiss" Tenten said looking at me with her arms crossed

"Ahh yeah, i remember that too. You're the only person I've kissed" i said as felt my face getting red

"So are you, you're the only one I've never kissed. Ive never found interest in anyone else" she said with a little smile on her face

"We are meant to be" Tenten said with a smile

I smiled "i got us both this" i said as I grabbed the bag that had all the things I bought for her. I left at home the ring and bracelet.

"Matching bracelets!" Said Tenten as i showed her the box

"Yes i got us matching bracelets and a few treats" i said as i put the bracelet on Tenten

Her eyes were sparkly

"Thank you Neji" she said as she looked at the bracelet amazed

I hugged her as she fed me mochi. Nights like these make me happy. Once again I was going to spend the night with her. I brought my things so I could change and shower.

Tenten fell asleep, she looked like an angel. I left her sleeping on the couch and went to shower. Afterwards, i sat on the small kitchen table and started to write on my journal

I always liked to keep track of the things I did and write about how the day went. As i wrote my training, the mission i did today and finally I started to write about her again

After I arrived home I went straight to get food for me and Tenten. I was tired but I wanted to see her. She has been my happiness throughout these past years. She's the light at the end of the tunnel. I got the promise ring and bracelets. I gave her the matching crystal bracelet, her face lit up. Her eyes were sparking as she thanked me. I had never seen her this happy, she smiled but i knew it wasn't genuine. She's had depression since young, her parents passed away. She was left alone now seeing her like this makes me feel good. She's not alone all the time like she used to be. I was curing her depression slowly but now with the news of war happening I am worried. All i can hope for is that none of us are hurt or killed. For now I'll spend time with my Tenten.

Tenten then woke up and we decided to binge watch a vampire anime. Of course we made snacks and Tenten made her famous caramel popcorn with the caramel i had brought

We passed out on the couch thankfully Tenten has her alarm set up so we will wake up in time
