This story takes place one year after the events in my book, A Court of Ash and Necromancy, which is where Elodie and Wynter are first introduced. This story can be read by itself, but if you want a more in-depth look at how the events in this story came to be, (and don't want to read an entirely different book in the process), you can read the following chapters from ACOAAN:

7. Fathers and Heirs
8. Halfwritten Agendas
12. Circling Concerns
14. Pursuits of Happiness
33. Not a Chance
34. Unfair Trades
35. A Bowl of Bitter Cherries
36. Reconciliation
40. One Life for Two
42. To Kill a Witch
43. Furtive Communication
44. Racing the Undead
45. Illusions and Punishments
46. False Surrender
47. Resurgence
48. Ancient Ashes
49. Barriers and Reunions
50. When the World Was Right

Of these listed chapters, I would highly recommend reading 33, 34, 35, 36, 40, 42, 44, 45, 47, 48, and 49. Those focus mostly on Wynter, but a few of them contain Elodie as well. However, as I said earlier, this story can be read by itself. Everything will inevitably be explained. Those chapters are there if you want the whole story right away.

Enjoy!

Extra: Beyond the Books

I recommend the books be read in this order as that is the order the story happens and characters are introduced in. They can be read individually of course, but if you want the full context, please read them in order. This order is listed at the start of every book, in every book description, and the books are listed in the correct order in the reading list on my account called My ACOTAR Fanfics. Thank you and I hope you enjoy.

Beyond the Books is a collection of short stories about all of my characters from all of the books. Those can be read at random but I have their correlating book chapters listed in them, and the short story title is at the end of each correlating book chapter as well.
