I opened my eye's and stretched.
"Morning." Matt said.
The sun was shining into the room and Matt was still in the same chair.
"You stayed?" I whispered.
"What. No. I just came in early. You slept well."
I did sleep well. I slept through the whole night.
"How do you feel?" He asked.
"I think I feel a little better."
"You look a little better Mikayla." He told me smiling.
The door opened and a nurse arrived with breakfast.
"Hungry?" She asked.
"A little."
"Good. Let's get you sitting up. Can you excuse us?" She asked Matt.
"Yeah, sure. I have a couple of things to do so I'll be back soon okay."
I smiled and nodded, watching him leave the room.
She helped me get comfortable in bed and sat me up.
"What time is it?" I asked her.
"Nearly 8am."
"Where would Matthew be going at this time of morning?" I wondered out loud.
"Home to change I would imagine."
What did she mean? "Huh?"
"He was here all night you know. Never left your side." She said, winking at me.
He stayed. Why did he tell me he didn't?
"He's a lovely chap." She continued. "You're a very lucky girl. Easy on the eye too."
"Oh no, we're not together." I assured her.
"Ha, could've fooled me. Now eat."
She left the room and I sat there looking at the food wondering why Matt just didn't tell me he stayed.
I ate a little of the breakfast but even doing that exhausted me and as I layed back on the bed the door opened and Marc walked in.
"Hey." He said walking over and kissing my cheek. "You look a little better."
"I feel it."
"So anyway Mikayla, I'm going to head back home today." He said softly. "I'll be back next Friday."
I nodded, I wasn't sure what to say. My fiancé was leaving me here in hospital.
"I want you to think okay." He kissed my forehead and walked to the door, looking back at me. "Do you want Matt or do you want me."
I opened my mouth to protest but he was gone.
How ridiculous, I thought, him or Matt.
I closed my eye's and groaned.
Oh god I wanted Matt. I couldn't deny it any more.
