The space between us...

Lani's POV

I see him. As I have seen him s many times before. Across the way. In his own house. In his room.

He doesn't notice me. He hasn't looked this way yet. Maybe he is afraid. Maybe he thinks I am not here.

This feels awkward. Normally by now, we would have been in each other's rooms. Talking, laughing, dancing like the crazies we are.

Now, here we are, in our separate rooms. Silence filling the space. I look across to him again. I notice he puts on music. Rap, no doubt, is filling his space right now. He moves to his desk and I know he is setting up his timetable.

Maybe I should listen to what he has to say. Maybe Text.

QL👸🏻: I just got your message. I'm just disappointed and need space. Can we talk after FInals?

I press send. I see him turn around and look at his phone. His head shoots up and he looks in my direction. Suprised.
