In a world, where colours were only for Soulmates and people were constantly searching for that one person that would colour their world, Iwaizumi felt out of place.

He didn't belong here, he knew that. Something just wasn't right with him. It was as if he were from another world, another universe.

Since he could remember he saw colours. He knew that the sky was blue, he could watch the leaves slowly turning red in the autumn and he saw the colour of his eyes.

As a kid he had quickly learned that something was off. His parents always talked about how someday he would eventually meet that one person that would colour his world, but he was still too young for that.

"You'll understand what I mean, when you're old enough", his mother once told him, as she described how beautiful the world was in colours and what a miracle it was for her to see it for the first time in her life.

But she didn't know that Iwaizumi could see them already, that he got up every day to see the world in those stupid colours.

He had never learned what the colours were called. That was something you didn't learn like that, you just knew it. This was something his mother explained to him too. "You look at that object and even though you see it with these colours the first time in your life, you think blue. Because that's the colour of it."

Iwaizumi knew what was blue, he knew what was green, he knew what was red. He just knew.

His mother often talked to him about colours. She told him how it felt to observe them, how it felt to see them for the first time. He used to love listening to her, but he quickly began to hate it.

"I didn't have a clue what colours looked like. Of course I had friends and family who told me that the sky was blue, but I just couldn't imagine how blue looked and not in my wildest dreams I would've imagined it like that."

Iwaizumi could imagine what blue looks like. He couldn't just imagine it, he knew it. He saw it.

"Red", he once said pointing to the jewellery box that stood on the dresser in his mother's room. She had just chuckled softly.

"That's right." She had looked at him. "Either you're very good at guessing or your father told you about it, hm?" She had crouched down in front of him, drove her fingers through his hair and pressed a kiss on his forehead. "One day you'll really see this colour, Hajime."

And that was the point where Iwaizumi knew that he wasn't normal. For he had seen it.

As a kid he thought that maybe he just met his soulmate already, but know he knew better. It was impossible.

It wasn't enough to simply just meet them. At first you would only see colours around this one person. They would become stronger the closer you got and the stronger the relationship became, the stronger the colours would become, until both would love each other honestly and they'd see the whole world in all of its colours.

But Iwaizumi had seen them from the beginning and he had given up a long time ago to believe that he had a soulmate. It was idiotically and he knew he would never have one.

"Iwa-chan" He was torn from his thoughts. His best friend Oikawa Tooru stared at him with a grin on his face. They had known each other since they were children and Iwaizumi couldn't imagine a life without him anymore.

"What colour is my hair?" Brown, Iwaizumi thought. Kinda dark, just like chocolate.

"Why the hell should I know, idiot?", he answered and looked at him annoyed.
