The next few days passed by in a hazy blur until it was Sunday and the pack was preparing for the next location on Alpha Lupus' secret mission. Honi had stayed up late last night with us all in the living room of the workers quarters, pacing back and forth as she got increasingly frustrated with all of the secrecy and blind following. Raula had scolded her and reminded her that she wanted to join the pack, and having blind faith in their Alpha was a part of that. I'd remained quiet, not trusting myself to speak up in case I accidentally revealed that I knew why he kept going to different places; to find my original pack. I knew the Salt Lake City wolves wouldn't appreciate an Alpha being so distracted by some rogue he had barely known a week, so I kept my mouth shut and listened to the debate between Honi, Raula, Louvel and Adolfina; the latter of which just wanted everyone to shut up so they could watch the werewolf news. Jet had been avoiding me, no doubt due to the rake incident and he now wouldn't even let me use the shovel to plant more flowers, ignoring me when I pleaded with him to let me help; like today

"Please Jet! The flowers don't even need watering. Let me do something else?" I had my arms crossed and an unmistakable pout on my lips in a last-ditch attempt to get him to cave. He sighed in response, running a hand through his blonde hair and turning to face me

"You know I can't do that princess. Alpha's orders were crystal clear; any harm comes to you and I'm a goner." My eyes widened in excitement when he used that nickname and the pout was replaced with a smile, getting excited that he was finally caving

"You used that stupid nickname for me so you aren't mad at me! I knew it!" I did a funny little dance on the spot which caused Jet to laugh

"I thought princesses could dance? That isn't the dance of a princess, Ace." He shook his head feigning disappointment, a smile still tugging on his lips and I knew any moment now, he was going to break

"Please let me do something else. It doesn't even have to be big, just something different. Alpha Lupus is going out today anyway, he won't even know." I bribed and I saw the remnants of the blonde man's resolve slowly slip away, running another hand through the hair atop his head before looking over into the shed.

"Here, you can trim the shrubbery around the front. If Alpha Lupus asks, I don't even know that you've got these scissors." He warned and I nodded quickly, my eyes widening when I saw the size of the tool in question. He wrapped the scissors in a thick cloth before handing them to me, meeting my eyes once more before shaking his head, looking away. "You're going to get me killed, princess." He bit his lip in thought but before he could change his mind, I'd left the shed and was making my way over to the side of the house, careful not to trip with the tool on my travels. When I found the overgrown shrubbery that lined the wall of the perimeter, I unsheathed the scissors and tried to ignore how dangerous the blade was. I busied myself with cutting the bushes, taking extra care not to hurt myself because even though the gardener annoyed me with that stupid nickname, I didn't want him to be executed because of me. I'd almost done when I heard his footsteps behind me, the unmistakable sound due to the heavy boots he always wore when working

"Not half bad, princess." He complimented and I smiled, trimming another spindly branch as someone cleared their throat behind us. I spun around quickly, almost catching Jet on the side of the head with the scissors and he ducked out of the way just in time, taking the tool from my hands and covering them with the cloth again. "Damn it, princess, you're going to kill me one day." I rolled my eyes at the over dramatics but turned my attention back to the third person, freezing in place when I realised it was the Alpha himself. I bowed my head and stared at the muddy converse on my feet, wondering how much he heard.

"What did you call her, Rogue Jet?" The voice I hadn't heard for a few days spoke into the now tense silence and my inner wolf stirred, clearly missing the sound for some insane reason. Jet stuttered a few times before sighing
