Chapter Thirty Nine: A fix

What is Peter doing here
"Your here- I was calling you"
He says to me and I shrug
"I was working. Didn't hear my phone"
I say
I'm still a bit annoyed at him but not as much as earlier
"What are you even doing here?"
I ask and I notice tony pretending not to care about our conversation but he so does.

"I came to talk to Mr.Stark"
Peter says
Then before I can even react he says
"To ask him where you might be cause I was worried about you.."
He says but I say nothing.

"I'm not going to sit and watch whatever this is so I'm off to the bathroom"
Tony goes off and leaves

Peter takes Tony's chair and pulls it up infront of me

"Can you say something to me Vee..."
Peter softly asks

What should I even say right now..

"What happened at the school Vee."
Peter asks
He scoots his chair closer to me then says
"I wanted to go see what was wrong at the school but MJ-"

I stop him and say
"MJ. She's the problem. You say you promised her you'd hangout with her when you know how important going here is."
"I-I know.. it was kinda sucky to do"
I look up at him and ask
"You still went with her didn't you?"

Peters eyes panic
"Ye-yes? What was I meant to do."
"Never mind. It was just a question"
I say crossing my arms over my chest

"Can you just go. We can talk about this later"
I say not even looking at him
"Sure."
He says and putting the chair back and leaving.

Tony comes back and tells me to come back tomorrow same time.

I leave and on my car ride back to my house I think about what I should say to Peter.
How I should apologize.

I grab some red roses from the store and go to peters house.
I hide the flowers behind my back and I open the door.

I feel confident about this.
I'm gonna say sorry and then tell him what happened then sleep easy tonight and everything will be ok.

I hear Mays voice inside.
"Hun my hands are tied. Could you get that"

These walls are super thin. Wow.

The door opens MJ stands with the door open and she has a smile on her face. But then it fades.
"Michele"
I say and she steps out into the hall and she looks me in the eyes
"What are you doing here?"
She asks and I scoff
"Did I end up on the wrong floor? I'm looking for Peter not.. you"
"Your at the right floor. And apartment. I guess you'll just have to go home instead"
"What is your problem?"
I ask
"You. Im getting what I want so stay out of it"
She gives me a smile and goes back into the apartment.

What. The. Hell.
I feel like that wasn't even MJ. Did a demon take over her body or something.

I just want to talk to Peter is that so hard.
I start to walk away. I quickly walk outside and see it's raining. Why does it have to rain at the times I wish it wasn't.

"Veronica-"
Peter says behind me. He's holding a big grocery bag and was about to go inside.

"I was here to talk to you but I found your side girl instead!"
I say loudly and walk into the rain out to my car.

He grunts and follows me.
I get into my car but then he gets into the passengers seat.

"Do you mean MJ?"
He asks and I look at him and nod.
"I'm pretty sure she likes you and doesn't want me in the picture"
I say and he looks at me with shocked face.

"I was going to give you these stupid flowers and say sorry but it feels like the universe is trying to get me to-to stop"
I throw the flowers in his lap. I feel tears run down my face but I quickly wipe them away.

"I'm the one who should be saying sorry. Something was obviously going on.."
I look at him as he says that and I look out the window.

"I can tell being the one to talk and try and cheer me up is something you're not used to.."
I say to him and he nods
"Yeah.. b-but that's kinda what I agreed on when I said yes to being with you."
He goes on to say
"I'll tell MJ to back off.. if that's what you'd like me to do"
I slowly nod while looking at him and he gives me a slight smile.

I explain to him what happened earlier and he understands. He gives me a big kiss then goes back in his apartment
