The scans showed a massive carcinoma in Meredith's prefrontal cortex, no doubt a metastasis from her original cancer.

Amelia stood there in awe. It was a beautiful tumor. It invaded the ventricles, meninges, and multiple structures.

Her mind raced, thinking of all the possible solutions to the problem in front of her.

"This can't be true.. how could i not notice this? this is my own damn specialty" Derek screamed before hitting the wall

"Derek, calm down.." Amelia said

Jackson and Alex tried to pull him away from the wall to prevent him slamming his fists to the wall

"Derek she'll need you, don't hurt yourself!" Alex said

"I'm going with her to her room" Derek said

"Jo and I are coming with you" Alex said

Once they left the room the others started talking

"I can't believe this" Arizona said while crying in Callie's arms

"She's strong.. she survived a shooting, a drowning, a bomb, a plane crash, a c section in the dark, placental abruption when she gave birth to Ellis.. she's strong" Richard said

Maggie walked out and Richard ran behind her

"Now 2 of my inters got brain cancer" Bailey said with tears in her eyes

"We'll need to check on Derek and the kids" Callie said

"We can take the kids home tonight" Arizona said

"Amelia, can you even operate? I've seen Derek turn down much simpler tumors, and send them home to die. This seems... impossible" Addison asked

" Normally she would have about 6 months to live with this thing, but I can do better. Other surgeons like my brother lack creativity, and vision. I can do this."

The other doctors looked at her skeptically. Did they really want to put Meredith through hell during what could very well be the last months of her life?

"I need to come up with a plan.. I'll ask Tom to help me with this surgery" Amelia said "Derek can help too.. I know he's too close to Mer but the 3 of us are her best chance"

"Amy, me and Miranda are gonna help you too. We've been on her case since the beginning. She'll probably need intense chemo before her surgery"

"That's probably her best chance.." Amelia said realizing this is about her sister in law, her only sister she likes although she's not even blood related

Meredith was slowly waking up again, blinking as she took in her surroundings.

"Hey." Derek whispered, tears in his eyes.

"What's... wrong?" She choked out.

"She speaks!" Alex joked, trying to lighten the mood.

"Meredith, you have an inoperable carcinoma in your prefrontal cortex. We'll start you on a new chemo regimen, but it will only buy you more time. You have about six months to live." Derek said solemnly, getting straight to the point.

As tears began to form in her eyes, Amelia ran into the room.

Meredith turned her head. Not wanting to show she was crying. Not in front of her loved ones
