58. Lies and more lies..💣

Hardin POV

I finally get home from a long boring meeting I surprisingly had, I was supposed to have a week off but of course I had a 5 hour long meeting.

I walk to the kitchen and see tessa making dinner "hey beautiful" I wrap my arms around her and lay my head on her shoulder

She turns around and kisses me "You look so tired" I am...

"I know, the meeting was so long, I just wanted to come home and cuddle you" she smiles and keeps cooking

"Where's everyone?" I ask looking around

"Ev fell asleep in our room, auden went for a run and emery is taking a shower... Hardin I think something is wrong with her, she was crying......
I- I saw some marks on her neck and she said it was nothing... but I think it's something else"

I instantly starts thinking of all the possibilities, I swear if someone did something to her-

"Ok" I say trying to stay calm, I take a big breath and walk straight to her room

I knock on the door and wait for her to open the door, when she does she looks at me and I instantly notice she has been crying

"Hi dad" she gives me a fake smile

"Hey... no hugs for me?" She hugs me tight and we stay a long time like that

"Where were you?" She looks at me confused sitting on her bed

"I had an important meeting, but now I have a week off.... what about tomorrow we have a daddy date, you can skip school"

She instantly smiles and hugs me "really?!" She asks just like she used to when she was little

"Yup" I kiss her head and try to look at her neck without her noticing

"We haven't had one in a really long time... thank you dad" she looks at me with a pure smile and a sight of relief

I started taking her to 'daughter-daddy dates' when she was 5, I showed her what a man should do for her and how they should treat her with respect

she's not dating anyone till she's 25..... but still

"Em, is there something you want to tell me?" I don't want to pressure her on telling me what happened but I can't help it, at the end of the day she's still my little girl

She looks at me confused "no" her facial expressions instantly change after a minute "look, if mom told you about that thing on my neck, it's absolutely nothing, I'm okay, I promise"

I sight "can i.... see it?" I need to know she's okay

"Dad, it's nothing, why don't you go rest I have to do homework" she says walking to her desk

"I just want to make sure you are okay, you know you can tell me anything right? I don't care how bad it is, I will always love you no matter what"

She sits on her chair and just looks down "it's nothing" she says opening a book

I sight "okay" I'm not going to pressure her, if she thinks it's better not telling me now, I respect it, I just hope everything is okay

I kiss her head and walk to my and Tessa's room to change, as soon as I walk in I see everly sleeping in the middle of our bed

I swear she gets cuter and cuter every single day, I feel like she has grown so fast and it's crazy how she's already three

I slowly kiss her forehead waking her up, she rubs her eyes and yawns

"Hi cutie, dinner is almost ready" she stays quiet and puts her arms up for me to pick her up

I pick her up and she puts her head close to my neck falling back asleep, i chuckle to myself and change to comfy clothes

When I walk back down to the kitchen with ev, everything is ready "it smells so good tess, tomorrow is my turn to cook"

"Okay... did you talked to emery?"

"Yeah, she didn't really tell me anything, but she will soon, I'm taking her to a 'daddy date' for lunch, and I'm sure she will open up"

She nods and gets closer "and this little girl is still asleep?"

"Yeah" I look at the clock "it's still early for her to go to sleep, should we wake her up"

"She skipped her nap time in the morning because she wanted to play with Auden, so I guess we should just let her sleep"

"How long has Auden been out?" I change the topic

"About an hour, he didn't really said much, I was just trying to help emery"

As soon as she finishes the sentence auden walks in "Hey"

"Auden don't you think you are doing a little too much exercise? You had a fight in school, two hours of training and now 1 running, I think that's a lot for your age" tessa tells him concerned

"It's just my way of forgetting things, not because it's not yours it's wrong, I'm sorry I do everything wrong" he says grabbing a glass of water

"It's not wrong Auden, and don't talk to your mother like that, can you tell emery dinner is ready?"

He nods annoyed and walks upstairs

Emery POV

After my dad left I started crying again, I can't stop, I hate that I can't tell the people I love anything about it because they will get hurt

I don't care if I get hurt, I just don't want any of my friends or family getting hurt

I get distracted by a knock in the door, I instantly get up put my hood up and dry my tears away

"Dad- I'm doing homework" I try to sound confident but my voice breaks

As soon as I say that I see Auden walk in "Em why are you still crying? I promise I'm good now, did anything else happened?" He asks closing the door

I just look down silently crying "I- I don't think you should hang out with the guys in 8th grade" I try to say

"What are you talking about?" He asks sitting on the floor next to me "is that my hoodie?"

I totally ignore him and keep talking "That guy you had a fight with, he's in the hospital, I don't think you should..." I try to find the right word "bother him"

"Emery what are you talking about? Who told you all that?!" He asks me grabbing my face and making me look at him

Tears just roll down my cheeks. You can't tell him emery, he's going to hurt everyone...

"Em, please tell me" he looks at me with his intense stare

"No one did okay!" I get up but he stops me grabbing me by the waist and I wince in pain

He lifts my shirt a little but I stop him "what are you doing!" At this point I'm a mess, I'm fully crying

"What am I doing! I'm helping you! Cause I fucking care for you! Who the fuck did that to you! I saw it emery, you have bruises! I'm not playing, I swear to god I'm going to kill him-" I instantly cut him off

"I did! I- I tried to.... kill myself" I lie
