A/N: Not my art!

Thunder boomed across the sky, causing me to spring awake. I let out a shriek as lightning arced outside. Loki groaned, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Wha-" Another arc of lightning cracked across the sky, followed by the consecutive crash of thunder. I shrieked again and threw my arms around Loki's torso. He made a noise of realization. "It's okay, my flower, you are perfectly safe." Loki embraced me in his grip, leaning back into the pillows. He softly sang an Asgardian lullaby while rubbing my back, lulling me to sleep.

I stretched my hand out in search for Loki. My hand accidentally smacked his face. Found him. "Good morning to you, too." He said, sitting up. I sheepishly retracted my hand, muttering an apology. Loki pressed a chaste kiss to my forehead. He then got out of bed.

Loki and I went to the kitchen, where Peter was munching on fish-shaped crackers. "Shouldn't you be at school?" I said, digging out a bowl for cereal. "School was cancelled because of snow." Peter explained, shoving another handful of crackers in his mouth. "There was a Thunder-snow last night." A shiver went down my spine. "So that is what it's called. I wondered why there was thunder." Peter set down his bag of crackers.

"Fitting weather for my birthday, I suppose." Loki sighed. Peter and I's heads snapped towards him. "It's your birthday? Why didn't you tell me?" I practically yelled. "I didn't think it was all that important. Besides, my birthday is a reminder of my past, some of which I'd like to forget." "My love, I know what it is like to have a troublesome past and issues with your family, but this is a chance to put it all behind us and forge our own happiness in the present." I said, more gently.I cupped his face with my hands. Loki melted into my touch. "You should still have something special for your birthday," I puzzled, then let go of Loki to clap my hands together, "I know! I'll bake you a special treat!"

I shooed Loki out of the kitchen to begin my work. Hopefully, helping in the bakery when I was younger would provide me with a decent treat. I decided to bake a two-tiered chocolate cake with fudge frosting with gold and green rosettes. My boyfriend was a slut for chocolate, after all. As I tied the apron around me I hoped that my ambitions wouldn't be too much to handle.

I felt a pair of cool arms snake around my waist as I finished off the rosettes. A sharp jaw rested on my shoulder as I placed candles around the second tier. "I thought I banned you from the kitchen, Lokes." I twisted in his arms to face him. Loki smirked, "You know I don't like following rules." I stood up on my tippy toes to kiss him. Tourmaline scoffed from where she was sitting on top of the cabinets. It sounded like a cat hacking up a hairball. We get it, now please stop being so mushy.

"Jarvis? Can you call everyone in the kitchen to watch Loki blow out his birthday candles?" I asked. The voice in the walls obliged. Tourmaline hopped down and lit the candles as the Avengers and Peter entered the kitchen. We sang a round of "Happy Birthday" and cheered as he blew out his candles. "What did you wish for, love?" I removed the candles and cut him a fat slice of the cake. "If I tell you, it might now come true." He answered. I jokingly rolled my eyes at his secrecy.

For once, everything was perfect. If only these moments would last forever.
