Oh and this chapter is dedicated to LifeGoesOn31 for recommending Heart of Gold on her story. Thank you for that :)
Chapter 29
Urges
Gracie's POV
It's felt like years since the last time I've worked at the diner. The plan to distract myself with work was working as always and I must say I haven't been so happy to wait on someone other than Jason for a change.
At first it was a bit difficult to get use to all the sudden movement but pushing through the throbbing of my ribs and the aching pain in my lower abdominal I managed to do my job. The morning rush was extremely busy today I barely noticed Jack and Lucielle coming in, well not until Lucielle squeezed the life out of me. It was great seeing the elder couple again after everything that's happened I was worried that our relationship would change, be more awkward but so far it's normal.
"Order twelve ready honey buns." Liam called out to Jackie who rolled her eyes tried of the pet name he'd given her for today
"I don't want to hear you talkin' to my daughter about any buns." Jack said sternly as he glared at Liam through the glassless-window
Liam nodded his blond hair shaking as he did so. With one last dark glare Jack turned to his wife who was sitting in an empty booth smiling at Liam's terrified expression.
"Met your match big boy." Jackie winked as she grabbed the order
Pulling the rag out of the front of my uniform I began wiping coffee stains and pastry crumbs off the counter with a small smile.
"I think she likes you." I finally said noticing how Liam's head lifted
"Jackie?" he asked in a shocked voice
With a nod of my head I peeked over my shoulder noticing the brightness to his face. "If she didn't she'd have gotten in there and beat you with a skillet."
Liam chuckled before stealing a glimpse at Jackie, his hazel eyes running over her figure as she walked from table to table. The extra shimmer in his eyes were a familiar emotion I've seen on many couples before, attraction.
"You should ask her out." I said
Snapping out of the small trans Liam's smile dropped "She'll say no." he mumbled sadly
Lifting the rag off the semi clean counter I turned fully towards him. The hurtful expression on his face had my heart twisting as a thought formed "Have you already asked her?"
When he shook his head I breathed a sigh of relief, I've seen rejection hurt even the strongest people. Not too long ago when Jason rejected me I felt as if my heart shattered. A feeling I never want to live through again.
"So how do you know she'll say no?"
"Because she said she'd never be with a two timing man whore." he grumbled like a child as his head lowered in disappointment
That definitely sounded like something Jackie would say. On Tom's first few days I remember him mentioning how Liam was a shameless flirt who always wooed the girls with his charming ways.
Stepping closer to the window I poked his chest grabbing his attention as I intended.
"I've heard your charming ways could cause any female to fall onto her back." I mimicked Tom's words from earlier
Liam grinned a dazzling smile demonstrating just how charming he can be when he wants to. "So why are you still on your feet?" he asked suggestively
