"This is the number for Jack Rey. How did you receive this number, and what do you need?" a gruff voice on the phone answered. It was a familiar voice, but I let it go. The telephone tends to warble people's voices.
I have gone through so much simply to receive this number - multiple run-ins with the mafia, cops, and much more. This is finally the moment. If this comes to a dead end, everything is screwed. I released a scratchy breath, and practice the words I have rehearsed. "I need a hitman."
There was a hesitation in the man behind the phone, he could probably hear my heartbeat. I waited 5 seconds, but it felt more like 5 years.
"May I ask who the hitman's target is?"
