The Thinning meets The Hunger Games in this unique sci-fi/thriller. [Warning! Mature audience - Contains sex scenes and violence] Know-it-all Alurah lives on a concrete and steel island called New Ocean which floats lazily above the earth's atmosphere. Some citizens look down at the beautiful blue marble in aww, while others have given it it's well deserved name: the bad place. It's uninhabitable and crawling with cannibals and gangs and the feral earth born who would murder each other for scraps. Or so the story goes. But no matter. The citizens of New Ocean are safe up here. Unless they're sent to the Batch. New Ocean couldn't sustain the growing number of feet and so the government exiled all convicts to a shuttle which awaited their decent down to the bad place. No one knew exactly what was awaiting them down there, but it probably wasn't worth that stolen loaf of bread. Now Alurah, who fails an essential test, is sent to Batch 192 in an effort to stretch the numbers of the "dispersion program" and weed out the weak. Alurah must avoid detection as she seeks shelter in an unfamiliar world while trying to protect someone she loves and seek revenge on the people who are responsible for her exile.
