Ralurick Foster knows firsthand the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Life has finally come back around to a relative normal Ral can handle - he's graduating high school, and, because the Foster family feud is over, he, his dad, and his little sister can live together again. But an unexpected death and some reckless magic gone very wrong catapults him into a world he doesn't know existed and an adventure he didn't want. Stuck in a place called Typrien with no idea how to get to home - or if it's even possible - Ral's only hope is tavern worker Jacq Sheflin. Jacq's use of his magic is fledgling at best, but he'll in be in for a crash course from Ral when the truth comes out - Jacq's a necromancer, and what few of them are left are being hunted. In order for Jacq to use his magic to its fullest extent, they'll first have to find his father's sword. It's easier said than done, though if Ral has any hope of finding a way home, it's to help Jacq through a mess of secrets, politics, and enough magic to change the very fabric of the world they live in.
