❇️ 2018 WATTYS WINNER! The Originals category ❇️ - "The Breakfast Club" meets "Nancy Drew" in this most unusual YA Mystery.

SUMMARY: Five high school students, with little in common other than being descendants of the town founders, are forced to work on a history project together. But when their history project uncovers evidence of a long-buried town secret, the kids must piece together the clues behind their discovery before its legacy comes back to haunt them.

*****
Using ACTUAL, archival material (some dating as far back as 1776), The Descendants weaves a tale of mystery and intrigue, constructed entirely from real photographs, documents, and snippets of history from a small, rural town in New Hampshire.

What Dan Brown did with conspiracy theories in "The DaVinci Code" and Ransom Riggs did with historical photographs in "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children," I will attempt to do in "The Descendants," but with teen protagonists and the Cheshire County Historical Society. :-)

Why? 'Cause I'm crazy like that!

Yeah, I know...History?! Blah! But it actually turned out really fun! :-)

Bronwyn Larson has spent her whole life not depending on her mother, a constantly recovering addict, until the moment her life was literally torn apart when an EF4 tornado ripped through their trailer park and her mom is found dead, miles away after the storm. Suddenly, her estranged father is a part of her life, a prominent state senator who's been absent since Bronwyn was born, a product of her parents' secretive affair. After living alone with her mother in a trailer for seventeen years, Bronwyn now has a stepmother and four new siblings, including an older brother and sister who seem skeptical, if not actually disproving, of Bronwyn living with them. While staying with them in their vacation lake house an hour away from what she called home, Bronwyn is hit with the bombshell that her mother's death is being treated as suspicious, with injuries inconsistent of being killed during the tornado. Estranged from everyone she knows, except her estranged new family, Bronwyn doesn't know who trust or who to believe about her mother's death. Torn between her life as the daughter of a single drug addict and the middle child of a well-respected senator, all while learning more about the mother she thought she knew, Bronwyn is forced to navigate through this new unfamiliar life alone, with this gut feeling she has. That her mother's killer isn't unfamiliar. 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐌𝐀𝐘 18th 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐏𝐀𝐃 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐒 Cover designed by Ashley Bandy

"Oreo, you have to.." "No! I don't want to drink it!" Oreo stepped back quickly. "But why? You can't be like this forever.." Marcie frowned. Oreo raised his left eyebrow. "I can finally be with you and do some actual things together. I already got your heart." Oreo said. "What..what do you mean by that?" Marcie said as she lowered the beverage she was holding. Oreo stared at her. "I thought you knew..." he said looking down. "Knew what exactly?" Marcie said putting down the drink. "You know..." he began. "Before I turned human...." he continued. "..weren't we a couple?" -Chapter 8 __________________________ Marcie was just a 12 year old girl who adored a cat. But sadly, this cat lived with her cousins. So she barely had some time with her beloved cat, Oreo. Yet sadly, Marcie wished he was a human so she could talk to him instead of Oreo being silent to her and doing actions. And since Marcie and Oreo spent some time together, her (Marcie) cousins feel that Marcie and Oreo are a couple. But Marcie felt weird when her cousins said that. She has never became a couple with Oreo and never knew. Yet Oreo had touched noses with Marcie's and Marcie doesn't know anything about animals. So, Marcie believes that she is NOT a couple with Oreo. But...someBODY.....has something against with Marcie's opinion. ___________________________________ Oreo's quote : "I don't want to leave my dear Marcie again. So that is why i'll hold on to her with my lovable paws."
