I loop my fingers around his, making one small connection as the whole world falls apart around us. Bucky takes my white Lady Liberty helmet off my head, allowing my messy braided hair to fall out. With a small smile, he brushes my dark bangs from my eyes. I close my eyes and lean into his hand.

Whatever happens after this, we've found each other again. If that's the only good thing that survives today, I'm okay with that.

Two years have passed since Alexander Pierce nearly fulfilled HYDRA's mission. Two years have passed since the Insight carriers were destroyed. Two years have passed since they discovered that Bucky Barnes was not only alive but has been the Winter Soldier for seventy years.

Two years have passed since Emma made the ultimate sacrifice to defeat HYDRA and awaken Bucky within the Winter Soldier.

Much has happened in the time she was asleep. The Avengers have fought another threat of their own making and have added new members to the team. Grant Barnes is alive, Steve and Natasha are a couple, and Bucky is still missing. To Emma, everything seems to be the same.

But nothing lasts forever. The events of a failed mission force the Avengers to make a choice: safety or freedom. Sides are taken which sever the Avengers down the middle. Things are not always as they seem. Agendas and secrets split apart the Avengers more effectively than enemies ever could. And with a confused Bucky in the mix, the truth about his and Emma's past is bound to come to light: the good and the bad. One secret in particular involves all of them.

A secret that will bring the Avengers to their end.
