Ruby Jones was one of the first people Jason saved as Robin seven years ago. Back then, she was a foster kid on the run who accidentally found herself in Riddler's clutches. Cryptic as the riddle was, Jason figured out the clues leading to her and understood the riddle's phrasing and answer as soon as he saw her. Since then, Ruby practically clung to Jason, not that he minded. She wasn't obsessive or overbearing about it, so they got along well and eventually became best friends.
