A 16 year old girl in medieval Ethiopia is faced with a difficult choice: To leave her family and sleepy village behind to embark on a grueling journey to the massive capital city of Berarra, or remain and marry a husband, providing him offspring. The answer to this question seems obvious, since the Emperor of the south offers all children between the ages of 11 to 18 to flock to the castle and be tested, then find a place amongst his castle staff and if the tests had one very specific outcome, to be enrolled in a special program. A prophecy of the greatest warrior found amongst the people is to be fulfilled after all. But is it wise to go, what with the religious Adal war at the brink of bursting out? What with powers far stronger than any simple human can imagine lurking in the shadows...

This article explores Italy's late 19th-century ambitions, leading to the official declaration of Eritrea as a colony in 1890 and its impact on the region. It delves into the establishment of vital coaling stations and General Oreste Baratieri's role in shaping Italian Eritrea's colonial history. The negotiation dynamics behind the Treaty of Wuchale are examined, where Ethiopian Emperor Menelik II sought to safeguard his country's independence amid Italy's colonial expansion. Additionally, the article highlights the consequential sense of marginalization and oppression during subsequent administrations, fueling the Eritrean War of Independence and ultimately leading to Eritrea's autonomy in 1993. Hello everyone! "A Gathering of Tales from a Cosmopolitan Family" is not just a collection of stories from different parts of the world. The characters who tell these stories make up a nice family: next to mom and dad there are two little girls who, like most sisters, fight. The way they solve their conflicts is very peculiar: the second daughter, in fact, uses her excellent memory - after all, she is an elephant! - and the story is told of a young Eritrean boy, Meteku', who manages to defeat the envy of his neighbors and even kiss a princess! In this story the two sisters heard from their mother, who not only loves to read but also to tell others what she reads, to discuss it together. Finally, as a mom, she has someone who listens and, if necessary, tells her stories to others. With these stories, all the characters of the cosmopolitan family make up and have the chance to know and love each other even more! Below is the link to get a copy of this book too!

Europe is in political turmoil as the 1930's draw to a close. It seems as if the continent is heading for a second violent clash of ideologies. The debonair archaeologist Rupert Winfield is exploring Istanbul with his friend and secret lover, the war-wounded Doctor Stephen Hopkins. Winfield has been charged by his tour company with opening up the fabulous city of Istanbul to the ever-increasing number of tourists with disposable incomes - something that was not so common when he first started working in Egypt just after the First World War. Whilst being guided around Hagia Sophia, he notices a small mosaic showing the Veil of Veronica, the legendary cloth with which Veronica wiped Christ's face on the way to the Crucifixion. The mosaic is in a poor state of repair, but enough of it remains to enable Winfield to make a quick sketch of the patterning across the bottom of the cloth. This he does in all innocence; he has no idea of the significance of this simple act nor of the consequences that will arise from it in the future. Meanwhile, in Berlin, The Third Reich is tightening its control and preparing to host the 1936 Olympic Games. It occurs to the SS Ahnenerbe that such an important world event wold be a good platform to announce the "recovery" of the Veil of Veronica, thereby proving, with the involvement of the Ministry of Propaganda, that Christ was of Aryan descent. The same thought has occurred to their ally Benito Mussolini, who is growing increasingly irritated by the Vatican's reluctance to endorse his plans for a greater Roman Empire in East Africa. Against sensible advice, Winfield's superiors send him to reconnoiter a tourist trail to the rock-cut churches of Lalibela in Abyssinia. Gerhardt von Neudorf is also in Abyssinia. Tensions mount as Il Duce's expansionist plans are put into action and the Italian invasion forces cross the border from Eritrea.

When Eritrea finds out that her best friend Ashley dies of a fast-spreading virus, killing almost all of America's children, her whole world turns upside down. Everything that she thought was right becomes wrong. She has to suppress her emotions, her thoughts, and her will to gain freedom if she wants to survive in this new terrifying world. (This story is going to be based on the Darkest Minds Series by Alexandra Bracken. The idea was hers. I just thought it would be interesting and fun to write another character's perspective of what happened and maybe change the plot/some details a little bit. )
