As the rising population goes beyond control, countries begin fighting over the scrap of resources left, and nobody can deny that it's the high time to take drastic measures. So inhumane policies begin to rise, and the government comes up with what they call, "The Shearing". Its rule is simple. Once a person commits a crime, his entire family bloodline shall be hunted down and killed no matter how big, how sparse, and how difficult it is to track every individual that's biologically related to the criminal. Byrne Holland turns desperate. Since the Holland family name has earned its place in the country's Kill Queue, Byrne's life suddenly hangs at the edge of a knife. From being a cashier lady, Byrne has to take a steep turn and change her whole identity; has to adapt to criminals' ways, and has to be with the criminals and other wanted, for it is the only way left to keep herself alive, while she and the wanted Oliver plots out a plan to save her sister. But would Byrne and Oliver be able to save her sister in time now that everyone is hunting them down?

When the radiation leaked, anyone contaminated instantly dropped dead. The explosion killed first hundreds, then thousands. The death toll rose every day. 5000 dead, 7000 dead. Humans were almost at the brink of extinction! Babies born in the center of this chaos, for some reason, didn't die. They lived and became immune. Immune to the deadliest radiation ever known to man. All the immune newborns were collected from their dying mothers and were used to begin rebuilding the new human population. They were all dumped in either section X or Y. These sections are run by the few remaining immune adults. But as the children hit the age of twelve some strange abilities began to occur. Had the radiation caused some kind of mutation in the brain? Every single immune child developed an power named after the radiation that caused it - an Ethalled. All apart from one. Meeting the boss man of the most feared red rose gang was not at all like she expected but when she decideds to make a deal with him she doesn't know if she can give him what he wants in return.

Maybe if Avery Cadwell was stronger, she wouldn't be in such big trouble. Maybe if she was stronger, she wouldn't have her virginity stolen from her. Maybe if she was stronger, she wouldn't be crying under her thick covers deep within the night. Maybe if she was stronger, she would be able to say "I love you" to the boy who saved her and really mean it. If only she wasn't so scared of rejection itself, maybe she'll be more than the girl who can't say no.
