yachi and i had become the new managers of the karasuno boys volleyball team. after kyoko and the third years graduated, she had left some final instructions for the two of us on a small piece of paper that only read 'take care of the team'. since then, yachi and i had both done our best to keep the boys in shape and help them progress to becoming the best team they could be.
ennoshita was captain, and tsukishima, yamaguchi, hinata, and kageyama were now all second years, along with yachi and i, with last years second years now being third years.
the team was strong, and everyone always worked so hard, so the day we were let off for winter break yachi decided to have a sleepover with all the second years. with everyone being busy studying for the final exams and practice, we all hadn't had much time to be together like we did last year.
everyone agreed to the sleepover at yachi's house, which was happening tonight while her mother was away for work.
"i'm so excited for the sleepover!" i squealed while walking with yachi. the last class of the day before winter break had just finished, and everyone left quickly, eager to get home to relax and escape the cold.
"me too y/n! i know it'll be great for everyone to relax and catch up again! speaking of which, are you going to confess today?" yachi asked me with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"c-confess?! yachi you know tsuki doesn't like me that way.. i don't want to get rejected." i stated sadly.
i had the biggest crush on one of our blockers, tsukishima kei since last year. after seeing him play and his silent determination to get better, i couldn't help my growing feelings for the tall boy. he'd always been polite to me, saving his snarky comments and attitude for kageyama and hinata.
yachi of course knew about my crush, as she was the one who helped me to realize i even liked tsukishima to begin with.
"y/n it's been so long! don't you want him to be your boyfriend?" yachi asked.
"well yes.. but he would have to like me first yachi." i told her with an irritated pout.
i knew tsukishima didn't like me, because there was not much to like. i was quiet and kind, and not a very confident girl either. tsukishima had his own group of fan girls from our school, all which were prettier and more confident than i. he hadn't shown any interest in any girls since the beginning of high school, and i knew if he wasn't interested in me last year he probably wouldn't be this year.
"y/n, i know you are thinking sad thoughts in that smart head of yours." yachi said as she poked my forehead, smiling softly at me.
"you don't need to be so hard on yourself. i've seen the way tsuki looks at you, and he's never said a single bad thing about you! that has to mean something, don't you think?" she asked again as she tried raising my spirits.
i didn't respond, instead looking up at the white sky above me. snowflakes softly started to fall from the sky, some melting away in my (h/c) hair.
yachi took my silence as a hint to end the conversation, and we both walked silently home. once i reached my street, i gave yachi a quick hug and told her i'd see her later. we went our separate ways, and i continued to enjoy the softly falling snow while thinking about the sleepover tonight.
i had never slept in the same room as a boy, or for that matter four boys, and one being my crush. i realized i hadn't talked to tsuki after school today, but decided not to stress over it as i was going to be spending the night with him tonight.
wait. spending the night? i was going to a sleepover with my crush! only just realizing how serious the situation was, i ran home, went to my room and begin to pack my bag.
while i was deciding between two different pajama tops, my phone buzzed from my desk. grabbing my phone, my heart jumped at the notification.
tsukishima: hey y/n. are you going to yachi's tonight?
(me): yes! you are too right?
i gripped my phone tightly, waiting for his response. a minute later-
tsukishima: yeah. me and yams are heading over soon. see you there.
(me): see you soon :)
i put my phone back on my desk and squealed, jumping in excitement. the conversation was only less than five minutes, but my crush texted me, and asked if he was going to see me!
i quickly packed the rest of my necessities in my overnight bag. after showering, drying my hair, and brushing my teeth, i was finally ready to head to yachi's. i said goodbye to my family, and began the short walk to the train station.
- at yachi's -
yachi opened the door, grabbing my hand and pulling me inside. she gave me a pair of slippers to wear as i slid my shoes off.
"y/n! you're finally here!" i heard hinata yell, which earned him a smack on the head from kageyama.
"boke! don't yell at her, she just got here!" kageyama grumpily said to hinata.
i waved to the boys, laughing at their bickering, and followed yachi to her room. her house was not too big nor too large, and her room was a decent size with decorations that suited her personality.
i left my bag in her room and we both walked into the living room, where kageyama, hinata, yamaguchi, and tsukishima were all already sitting.
"hi y/n" yamaguchi said to me with a small smile.
"hey." tsukishima said, and i greeted them back, blushing when i made eye contact with tsuki.
"so, what's the plan?" hinata asked, jumping up and down excitedly.
"well i was thinking we could make some cookies, watch a movie and play a game before bed?" yachi said, sounding nervous.
"do you have milk for the cookies?" kageyama asked almost immediately.
hinata and i laughed, and yachi nodded her head.
"good" he mumbled.
we all followed yachi to her kitchen, where we began gathering and mixing the ingredients for the cookies.
hinata and kageyama were in charge of getting the ingredients, yachi in charge of measurements, yams in charge of placing them on the cookie sheet, and tsuki and i were in charge of mixing.
when it was time for tsuki and i to mix the two bowls full of ingredients, kageyama accidentally bumped into him, causing some of the batter to splash onto his cheek and glasses.
i laughed at the sight, but then stopped when i saw the glare tsuki was sending towards kageyama.
"haha tsuki! you have batter on your face!" hinata yelled loudly, laughing obnoxiously.
"here let me help," i turned tsuki towards me and used my thumb to wipe the batter off of his cheeks. his cheeks dusted pink, before he turned away muttering a small 'thanks'. he then left to the bathroom to clean his glasses.
"y/n.. was that grump blushing?" kageyama asked me.
"w-what?" i asked, embarrassed that i had stuttered at the mention of my crush.
"i saw it too kageyama. when you wiped his cheek he blushed." yams stated.
"maybe he likes you y/n!" hinata yelled rather loudly.
"l-likes me? i don't think that's true.." i looked down into the bowl, sadly mixing the batter.
"but y/n, haven't you seen the way he looks at you?" yachi continued on the subject.
"ya! he totally stares at you when you aren't looking!"
"it's true. i've seen it."
"you make him blush y/n!"
"i don't know how you haven't noticed, but i'm fairly certain tsuki does like you.." yamaguchi said to me.
while all my friends had talked about tsuki and his crush on me, none of us had noticed him standing in the hallway, listening to our conversation.
we all stopped when we heard the front door open and close.
'tsuki' i thought and immediately knew what had happened, and ran out the door following him.
"tsuki! wait for me!" i yelled, barefoot in the building chasing after him with flour on the apron i was wearing.
i saw tsuki continue walking, my legs not being able to catch up to his long strides.
"I LIKE YOU TSUKISHIMA KEI!" i yelled suddenly.
he stopped in his tracks, not turning around. i took this opportunity to catch up to him. i stood behind him, panting slightly.
"d-do you mean that?" he asked quietly, with his back still turned to me.
"i-yes. i've liked you since last year tsuki.." i looked down and stared at my hands, too embarrassed to meet his eyes.
he turned around and before i knew what was happening, his arms were wrapped around me. i stood still for a few moments, and as he was about to pull away i hugged him back tightly, breathing in his comforting scent.
"i didn't know you felt that way about me y/n.. i like you too. a lot." he mumbled.
i smiled and pulled away from the hug, getting on my tippy toes, softly cupping his face with my hands, and placing a gentle kiss against his lips.
he kissed me back, sweetly, before we both pulled away.
"let's go back with our friends tsuki." i said with a small smile. he smiled back and nodded, making heat rush to my cheeks.
we walked back to yachi's hand in hand, and spent the rest of the night having fun together and with our friends. only a few days later, tsuki asked me to be his girlfriend, to which i happily said yes.
