Date: November 6th, 6016.
Time: 9: 56 AM.
Our chapter starts in Speed's mind. He opens his eyes to find himself in a beautiful place called the Zen Garden.
Around him, were a collection of white stone paths, grass, trees, large gardens, plants, flowers, and a small lake with bridges over it, and a island in the middle of a pillar.
Speed was holding a bouquet of roses on his right paw, to give it to someone he knew.
In the distance from Speed, was a strange blue rock. That had a paw shaped interface attached to it. Speed approaches the blue rock and examines it. He lend out his left paw and touches it.
Suddenly, a burst of strange data got into his mind and he jumps back and felt a little startled by it. He then calmed down, and his LED turned to yellow to blue.
He then focuses his mind and touches the rock again, and he didn't feel startled this time. Letting go of the rock, Speed decided to check out the graveyard.
The graveyard was a place where, if Speed dies or if someone relative to him also dies.
They go here and they get put in as a gravestone. After walking around the stone pathway, he makes it to the graveyard, to see two graves, laying on some grass.
On the left of him, was a picture of a Jolteon, and on the writing on the Jolteon's gravestone.
Writes that his name was Jin, and he was the father of Speed. And the other gravestone right next to him, was a Umbreon.
Who was named ralph, and was the uncle of Speed. Both of their gravestones, had a location to where they are in the real world.
Speed wanted to visit their graves in the real world, but he wasn't allowed to go anywhere, unless if the Pokémon, who were controlling him, allowed him to.
Speed then picks two roses from the bouquet and puts them their both of their gravestones.
Software Instability ^
Speed then left the graveyard and crossed the bridge, leading to the middle of the pillar. Standing in the middle of the pillar, was a female Flareon who was tending and watering roses from a garden.
She had blue eyes, and had a shiny body part on her right leg. She was wearing a white rob, with a blue sleeve on the left of her arm. Speed then approaches her.
Speed: Hello, Mrs. Mollie.
Mollie: (Turns to Speed) Speed... It's good to see you.
She notices the bouquet of roses that Speed's had, on his paw.
Mollie: Are those for me?
Speed: Yes, Mrs. Mollie, I wanted to give this to you, for taking care of me for all this time.
Mollie: Well, thank you Speed. I really appreciate it.
She then takes the bouquet of roses and puts it in her little garden
Mollie: I want to Congratulate you, Speed... Finding that Outsider was far from easy, and the way you interrogated him was very clever. You've been remarkably efficient, Speed.
Speed: (Smiles) Thank you Mrs. Mollie.
Mollie: We asked the Sunny Town Rescuer Base to transfer the Outsider to us for further study. It may teach us something about how he became a Deviant... The interrogation seemed challenging... What did you think of the Outsider?
Speed: It showed sighs of PTSD after getting abused by it's owner, and I think that's why he became a deviant.
Mollie: This... Lieutenant Lazuli has been assigned to be with you on the Deviancy case... What do you make of her?
Speed: I think she's a little irritable, but I still think she's a good detective in heart, but doesn't show it. She's a intriguing Glaceon.
Mollie: (Turns to Speed) Unfortunately, we have no choice but to work with her... What do you think is the best approach?
Speed: I will try to establish a friendly relationship. If I can get her to trust me, it would be helpful for the investigation. It might even change her attitude a little and we might even become friends.
Mollie didn't seemed to like Speed's answer. But didn't show it. She then changes the subject.
Mollie: *Looks at Speed* More and more Outsiders shows sighs of deviancy, if they break free of their programing, they will cause chaos again.
She then gets close to Speed
Mollie: You're the most advanced Outsider, Sunny Town has ever seen. If anyone can figure out what's happening with the Outsiders, it's you.
Speed: You can count on me, Mrs. Mollie.
Mollie: And also, be carful. In a event that you may die one day, we'll have to upload your memories into a new Speed. However, every time you get replaced, some data will be lost and we'll be unable to recover.
She then starts to leave but stops and looks at Speed.
Mollie: One more thing. *Looks at Speed* Don't let that Glaceon ruin the investigation, she will only be in the way.
Speed: I understand...
She then leaves and Speed closes his eyes and comes back to the real world.
*On the Sunny Town Rescuer Base*
Speed enters the rescuer base station to try to find Lazuli, to go on his next mission with her. He then goes to a receptionist and gets greeted by a Outside Gardevoir.
Gardevoir: Hello, what can I do for you today?
Speed: I'm here to see Lieutenant Lazuli.
Gardevoir: Do you have authorization?
Speed nodded and used his LED to connect data to her LED.
Gardevoir: Lieutenant Lazuli hasn't arrived yet, but you can wait for her at her desk.
Speed: (Nodded) Thanks.
She then unlocks the small gate and allows Speed inside. Speed enters the base and he starts looking for Lazuli's desk.
In the base, Rescuers and detectives were either talking to each other, interrogating Pokémon, eating, and working at their desk.
While the Outsiders were just waiting, until someone calls them to do something. While walking, Speed stops and sees a Lucario, who had bandages on his body. Sitting on a chair, while talking to a female Blaziken.
Blaziken: Alright sir, what's seems to be the problem?
Lucario: My Outside Flareon, attack me until I was unconscious, and he took my daughter away from me...
Blaziken: (Rights on her notes) Alright, what's your name?
Lucario: My name is Jason.
Blaziken: Alright Jason, do you know your daughter and your Outsiders name? And also their ages as well.
Jason: My daughter name is Sunshine, and she's 3 years old. And that evil Flareon is named Solar Flare, and he's 15 years old.
The Blaziken continues to write on her notes.
Blaziken: Do you remember what they both look like? And what they were wearing?
Jason: My daughter is a Eevee, and she has brown eyes. And she was wearing a brown jacket, blue pants, brown shoes, and had a red bow on her left ear. And the Flareon has blue eyes, and he was wearing a WR 600 outfit. And...
Blaziken: What's wrong, sir?
Jason: ... He turned into a Berserker...
The Blaziken stops writing on her notes and looks at him with a surprised face.
Jason: I tried to protect my daughter, but he was to strong, and stroke me in the heart.
He then grabs his heart.
Blaziken: Alright sir, I'm gonna get as much rescuers and detectives to look through the neighborhood, to try to find your daughter.
Jason: R-really?
Blaziken: That's right, we're gonna hunt him down and save your daughter. Now go home and we will look through the neighborhood of the Raven dale district. We'll take it from here.
Jason nodded and left the base. Speed didn't know why, but he felt like he heard that name before. And when the Blaziken said that they'll hunt the Flareon down, made him felt angry for some reason.
Speed shakes his head and goes to the middle of the base, to find multiple desks of names. Speed then walks to Cream's desk, and she notices him.
Cream: You still here? I thought you were going back to Sunny Town tower?
Speed: I'm just been extended. Me and lieutenant are going to try to figure out what's happening with the Outsiders recently.
Cream: *Smiles* Lazuli's gonna be overjoyed to see you...
Speed: What do you mean?
Cream: Nothing, anyway you were right about the Outside Kabutop... He's been quiet and standing beside the cell all night.
Speed: Interesting... Well, do you know where lieutenant Lazuli's desk is?
Chris: Oh yeah, it's the desk that has a lot of books on it.
Speed: Thanks.
He then looks around, to find a stack of books in a desk. He looks at the name tag and finds her desk. But, he doesn't see her anywhere. Speed then ask Cream if he knew where she was.
Speed: Excuse me Cream. (She turns to him) Do you know when Lieutenant Lazuli usually arrives?
Cream: I saw Lazuli here a few minutes ago, and if you want to know. She's sometimes very late or early when she comes to work. it depends, but right now, she's here.
Speed nodded and looks at Lazuli's desk. Speed wanted to learn more about her "partner". So, he scans her books to find most of them were romance, and one of them got Speed
s attention.
He picks up the book and looks at the title. To see that it was called "How to kiss".
Speed seemed confused about her "partners" interest, but he didn't question it.
He then puts the book back and scans her chair to find dog hairs of a Yamper. He then scans her desk to find a lapis flower, a coffee mug, and finds a article about Lazuli joining a Red ice task force years ago.
It writes that Lazuli arrested multiple Pokémon who were selling Red Ice. She became the youngest detective and rescuer on the team. And was known as a good detective and rescuer.
Speed then stops scanning and finds Lazuli's iPod and a pair of headphones, connecting to it. He picks it up and places it close to his ear, and plays it to hear a pop music .
He scans it and find that the music he was listening to, was called "It's Not Like, I Like You!".
Speed didn't understand what this feeling was, but he started to enjoy the song. He started humming and shaking his head left and right before putting the iPod, back on the table.
He then hears someone walking closer to him.
He turns around and sees Lazuli, walking to her desk while looking down. When she got close, Speed greets her.
Speed: (Smiles) It's good to see you again lieutenant.
Lazuli: Speed? What are you doing here, I thought that your assignment was done...
Before Speed could respond, they heard a Sylveon called out to Lazuli
Sylveon: Lazuli, in my office.
Speed quickly identified the Sylveon as Stella, the captain of the rescuer base. Lazuli then goes to her office, and Speed follows behind her.
When they both got inside the office, Speed closes the door and Stella and Lazuli sit in a chair. While Speed stood up and listen to their briefing.
Stella: I've got multiple cases involving Outsiders everyday. Civilian Pokémon losing their Outsiders and all that other stuff... But now, we're getting reports of assaults and even homicides, like that guy last night... This isn't just Sunny town's problem anymore. It's now a criminal investigation and we've gonna deal with it before it gets out of hand. I want you and Speed to investigate these cases and see if there's any link.
Lazuli: But, why me? I know I used to be a good detective back in the day, but I'm not that Pokémon anymore. And who's gonna work with me?
Stella: That would be him.
Stella then gestures to Speed, and Lazuli looks at Speed than at Stella. She then points at Speed without looking at him.
Lazuli: Him? Stella, you know I'm not good with working with other Pokémon. Especially Outsiders
Stella: I understand that you don't want to do this investigation with someone, especially a Outsider. But I know you can figure this out. Most of our rescuer, and detectives don't want to work with a Outsider, because their anxious and afraid that the Outsider working with them. Might break out of their software and start attacking them. You are a good detective, and I would like you to be who you once were a few years ago. Plus, this Outside Jolteon is a prototype detective Outsider. With the help of him, we will be able to locate what's going on with the Outsiders, and stop it once in for all.
Lazuli: I don't know-
Stella: Please Lazuli, I don't want you to feel down every time you work here. If you give this Outsider a chance to work with you, I promise you. You won't regret it.
Lazuli thought about it for a moment, until deciding.
Lazuli: *Sighs* Okay fine. I'll take your word for it. But if it doesn't go well, I'll quit my job.
She then gets up off her chair and walks to the door. When she grabbed the door handle, she looks at Speed.
Lazuli: Hey Speed.
He turns to her.
Lazuli: Meet me on my desk when you're ready to go.
Speed: *Nodded* Alright lieutenant.
She leaves Stella's office and goes back to her desk. Speed then was about to walk out of the room as well, but stops when Stella spoke up.
Stella: Hey Speed.
Speed: (Turns to her) Yes Captain?
Stella: I know that I'm not supposed to tell a Outsider this but, Lazuli has not been doing well for the past few years now. She doesn't go to work most of the time, and she's not doing her job very well, like she used to. She also wanted to quit her job yesterday. But she told me she changed her mind. And I think I know why, it's because of you.
Speed: (Points at himself) Me, why?
Stella: I'm not sure myself but, when you showed up. She started doing her job really well yesterday and she's been really open to you. That really rare to see, coming from Lazuli. Since she's only open to me and her friends and that's about it. She really has a interest in you, and maybe you can leave the past behind her and become the Lazuli that we all know and love. So, can you do that for me? And make her what she used to be?
Speed: (Smiles) Okay captain, I'll try.
She then smiled at him. Speed then left her office. Before he goes to Lazuli's desk. He wanted to check on Blade, to see if he was alright from last night. He then went to the cells.
He finds him in a glass wall cell. And he was looking down at the ground, while having a emotionless face. Speed then walks up to him. Blade hears Speed walking up to his cell and he looks at him.
Blade: They're going to disassemble me...
Speed didn't know why but, he felt sympathy for him.
Speed: I'm sorry, I never wanted this to happened... But there's nothing I can do.
Software Instability ^
Sometime later, Lazuli wanted to check on Speed, to see that he was talking to the Outside Kabutop. She then walks a little closer to them without being noticed by them.
Speed then remember what Blade said to him yesterday.
Speed: Remember you told me about "The truth is inside". And the sculpture you made... What do they fully mean?
Blade: I'm going to die...
Before Speed could do anything, Blade started banging his head on the glass wall. Lazuli was shocked by this and without hesitation, runs to his cell and opens it.
They both got inside his cell, and Blade collapse on the ground. They then both comforted Blade, and calmed him down.
Lazuli: Hey, hey it's okay. Don't bang your head like that, if you kept it up, you could of died.
Blade: ...
Lazuli: Look, I'll talk to my boss to see if they will allow you to live. So please stay calm and don't bang your head on the wall again, okay?
Blade: I don't know what to say... Thank you...
Lazuli: *Smiles* You don't have to say anything. It's just the right thing to do.
Blade got up slowly off the ground, and laid down on a bed, that was in the cell. Speed and Lazuli then got out of the cell, and locked it.
Speed: Why did you help him?
Lazuli: Why did you sympathize with him?
Speed: Wait, you heard our conversation?
Lazuli: Of course I... You know what, never mind. I'll be going back to my desk.
Speed: Alright lieutenant.
Speed then walks away from the cells and goes into the break room. When he was there, Speed saw Spike talking to a Gothitelle. Spike then notices Speed.
Spike: Well, Would you look at that... This is Lazuli's new partner in crime. A Outside Jolteon!
He then claps his hands in a sarcastic tone.
Spike: Congratulation on interrogating your kind, I'm very impressed!
Speed got a little mad by this, but didn't show it.
Spike: Hey! Are you her reading buddy? You gonna bring her to work when she's to depressed to even be here?
Spike then laughs at his sentence. Speed wanted to punch him in the face, but his program didn't allow him to hurt a Civilian Pokémon. Speed then calms down and greets the two of them.
Speed: Hello, detective Spike. My name is Speed.
Spike then walks up to Speed.
Spike: So why are you back here, "Speed".
He says while waving his paws sarcastically.
Speed: I'm here because my producer's wanted me to help out with the Deviancy case. And to figure out why Outsiders are acting on their own again.
Spike: Oh yeah, I'm sure your gonna be a big help alright. *chuckles* A Outside Pokémon, going against his own kind. Now that's funny... You think Outsiders are gonna start a war again?.. Is that it?
Speed was about to say something, but Spike cut him off.
Spike: Hey "prototype", bring me a coffee.
Speed doesn't do anything.
Spike: Get a move on!
Speed: I'm sorry, but I only take orders from lieutenant Lazuli. And it will be nice if you ask properly and politely.
Spike then chuckled and looks back at the Gothitelle, before throwing a punch at Speed's stomach. But Speed surprisingly, caught his fist before it made contact.
Speed: I know that you want to take you're anger on Outsiders, but if you do that. You will have to pay for there damages. And I suggest that you don't do that.
Speed then let's go of his fist.
Spike: Why you mother-
Before Spike could do anything, the Gothitelle grabbed him by the shoulder.
Gothitelle: That's enough Spike, let's just go.
Spike was surprised by this, but quickly glares at Speed and points at him.
Spike: If you're little girlfriend didn't intervened and got in my way, I would have messed you up for disobeying a Civilian Pokémon. And if your in my way again, you won't get off so easy.
Spike and the Gothitelle then left the break room. And for a brief moment, Speed's LED turns to red.
He then calms down and was about to leave the room, until he heard a voice coming from the TV in the breaking room.
He Looks at the TV, to see a male Flareon, who was named Terry Cinder. Talking about Speed.
Terry: The Pokémon who are working from the Sunny Town tower, have provided the rescuers and detectives, with a prototype detective Outside Jolteon. The same one who had went to several missions and saved a little Eevee girl and a Outside Hydreigon, Who had taken her as a hostage. People around the world were surprised by how a Outsider was able to save both of them. People posted videos about the hostage situation and some Pokémon actually called him a hero. There are some mixed opinions about if he should work with the rescuers or not. But one things for certain. This Outsider have changed some Pokémon's minds on either or not Outsiders are actually good. I'm Terry Cinder, and this is, KNC.
With that, the TV cuts to another panel. Speed didn't know why, but he felt happy hearing other Civilian Pokémon actually want him to help, with the investigation.
He then left the break room and went to Lazuli. He sees her looking nervous, while sitting in her chair. He then approaches her.
Speed: I get the feeling that my presence causes you discomfort lieutenant, I'm sorry your feeling that way.
She doesn't say anything, but just looks away from him.
Speed: But, *Smiles* I'd like you to know that I'm really happy to be working with you. And I'm sure we'll be great partners together.
Lazuli blushes by what Speed said to her, but still doesn't look at him.
Speed: Is there a desk, that I can use?
Lazuli: (Points at a desk right next to her) Nobody's using this one.
Speed thanks her and goes to the desk and sits on a chair. Speed wanted to learn more about his "partner in crime", so he ask her some questions.
Speed: You have a dog, right?
Lazuli: How do you know that?
Speed: The dog hairs on your chair.
She looks at her desk and picks up a piece of dog hair of a Yamper.
Speed: I like dog Pokémon. What's your dogs name?
Lazuli: What's it to you?
Speed looks down at his table
Lazuli: ... *Sigh* Wattson. (Speed looks at her) His name is Wattson.
Speed: Do you listen to pop music, like the song called "It's Not Like, I Like You"?
Lazuli was surprised by what she heard and looks at him.
Speed: I really like that music. It's... Full of energy.
Lazuli: (Raises a eyebrow) You like listening to music?
Speed: Well, I don't really listen to music as much. But I really enjoyed that song, I thought it was catchy.
Lazuli was really surprised to hear this. She smiles and looks at her terminal.
Speed: ... Lieutenant.
Lazuli: What is it?
Speed: Back at the prison cells, why did you went quiet when I told you, "you heard our conversation?".
Lazuli then looks away from Speed while blushing.
Lazuli: W-well, I just wanted to see why you went to Blade's cell. That's all.
Speed: Oh, ok?.. Have you known Captain Stella for long?
Lazuli: Yeah, I met her when I first became a rescuer. After what happened to me, she always wanted me to be " who I was before". It annoys me sometimes but, I know she's trying her best to make me feel better. She's a good captain.
She turns to look at Stella's office and looks back at her terminal.
Speed: Lieutenant, can I ask you one more question?
Lazuli: Sure, as long as the question doesn't make me mad.
Speed: Well, why are you reading romance stories all of a sudden?
Lazuli starts blushing when he said that.
Speed: When we first met, I scanned you're stack of books to find that there were no romance stories what's so ever. So what made you want to read romance stories?
Lazuli: Well, um. I wanted to read something else than just read the same genres I always been reading. that's all hehe. (She says while laughing nervously)
Speed: Oh, I see.
Speed then decided to ask her other questions later, and focus on his work.
Speed: If you have any files on Deviants, I'd like to take a look at them.
Lazuli: Oh um, sure. Just connect the terminal on your desk and you will see how many Deviant cases there are.
Speed thanked her and connects with the terminal. It shows that there were 243 cases, involving Outside Pokémon.
He finds a article, of a Umbreon named Black, who was Alex's son. Who was a famous rescuer and artist.
He was shot by mistake because the rescuers thought that he killed Alex and Frost, his older son. They also shot him because they thought he looked like a Outsider, with Shiny parts on his body and also his LED.
Another one shows a article, of a Outside Gengar named Gus, who was a PJ500 (Which means a domestic assistant or household worker).
The Outside Gengar was working in a university lecturer, who was teaching Civilian Pokémon. But some drunken students violently attacked him, and he somehow managed to escape.
The students wasn't charged for attacking a Outsider, but for drinking in a early age.
And the last article was about a Lucario named Jason. Who was attacked by a berserk Pokémon, who was a Flareon named Solar Flare.
It also writes that The Outside Flareon assaulted Jason, and took his three year old daughter away, who was named Sunshine.
The Outside Flareon, had just got repaired a few days ago and after he returned. He attacked his owner.
Speed remembered Jason was talking about the Outside Flareon. Speed didn't know why, but the Flareon looked familiar to him and also his name.
Suddenly, he started to get multiple flashbacks of some kind.
*In Speed's mind*
The screen shows a treehouse that had three eggs inside, while in some type of fluff. One of the eggs started to hatch open. It then cuts to another scene, of a Eevee finding dead bodies of a Jolteon, Umbreon, and a Rhydon, laying on the ground.
It then also show another flash back, of the same Eevee, that hatched. Getting chased by rescuers. And finally, it shows a male and a female Eevee, eating on a table, while another Eevee is holding a door handle.
Eevee 1: Alright guys, I'm going out to look for more food.
The other male Eevee then spoke.
Eevee 2: Big bro, please be carful.
Eevee: You don't have to worry, I'll be fine. And you two take care of yourselves when I'm gone.
The two Eevee's then yelled out "We will!" at the same time. The other Eevee then chuckled a little.
Eevee 1: Alright, I'm going out now, take care.
Eevee 2: Big bro, stay safe!
Suddenly, Speed heard Lazuli yelled out.
Lazuli: Speed!
Speed then comes back to reality and starts shaking a bit by what he saw. Lazuli then started to get worried about him
Lazuli: You alright Speed? You were looking at that article of a Flareon, and you were just suddenly started shaking .
Speed didn't know what he saw. But he didn't tell Lazuli about it. He then lied to her.
Speed: Y-yeah... I'm alright. It just took me awhile to scan every article of this terminal. And by how much information it had, it must have messed up with my scanning.
Lazuli: Oh, that makes sense.
Speed: Yeah, anyway. There are 243 files on Outsiders. The first dates where back in nine months ago. It all started in Sunny town... And it quickly spread across the islands... I heard a briefing about a WR 600 Flareon, was reported to have assaulted a Lucario, named Jason last night. And took his daughter away from him. That could be a good starting point for our investigation.
Lazuli: Alright then, what are we waiting for. Let's get going.
Speed nodded in agreement and the duo then made their way out of the rescue station, to start their next mission.
