-Kaila's POV-

...10 Years Later...

I'm now fourteen. It's the 1st of January, 2011. In case you didn't know, it's my birthday today.

It's also been 10 years since Dad died. Since he was taken away from me by two evil men. Yes, they found his muderers. They were put away for 25 years each, but that's not enough for me, mum or Carl.

It took nearly a year for mum to start again. She's learnt that when someone important dies, you'll never forget them. But they would have wanted you to live your life, and still have fun. So, although she still cries sometimes, she knows that Dad would've wanted her to carry on with her life, and not waste time grieving over him. Besides, you only live once.

She's working again and going out with her friends. She's had a few boyfriends, but none has ever gotten to her like Dad did. She says that she'll just find another man to look after us and secure us, but she's not ready for a new boyfriend, or even husband yet.

Carl was nearly the same as mum, but he realised what Dad would have wanted sooner. If he wasn't here, then Mum probably would have never got better.

He is now a famous rugby player. He was just playing for his secondary school, but then an ex-rugby player came to watch a game and talked to him about being a proper player, in a real team. A few days later, a rugby manager came and took him out of school for the day and was talking to him about becoming a player in his team. They drew up a fair contract and Carl signed.

He came home and told me and Mum, and we were absolutely over the moon.

'If your father was here, he would be so proud,' Mum gushed with a gleam in her eye. Then we all went in for a family hug.

So now Carl is famous, and a total hottie. I've gotta admit it, even though he's my brother. He's always got girls after him, but he doesn't really go for them. He says he wants to find the right person for him, and those girls were only after him because he's rich and famous.

Well, he's got a point.

Lots of people have said that I'm the one whose changed the most. Umm, yeah, whatever!

They're like, 'Well, your mum is near enough the same, just grieving a bit for Lennie, your dad. Carl takes after your mum. Then you, well,'

'Well, what?' I'd encourage.

'Well, you've changed A LOT,' they'd say.

'What do you mean, "I've changed a lot"?

'When you were young, you were always happy. But ever since your- I mean ever since what happened, you've become, like, angry, or something. It's like you see everything as evil.'

'Maybe it is,' I'd mumble.

And that was how it went quite a lot. Seriously though, WHATEVER.

I have a great life. My brother's famous, I have the bestest friend in the world, I'm THE most popular girl in school, even though I'm only in year 9, boys are always asking me out AND I get the best results in tests. Apart from maths. But I still get higher than most people in my maths class.

Anyway, it's my 14th birthday party today and my new BF, Jay, is coming over, along with lots of other friends of mine for my party that I'm throwing. It's gonna be AMAZING!

We've got the best food, best drinks, a huge jacuzzi and... Guess who's gonna be performing in my gigantic back garden?

TINIE TEMPAH!!!!!! WOOHOO! I'm so excited!

And another thing, some of my friends are staying for a huge back-garden-tent-sleepover. That's gonna be AWESOME!!!

'Kaila, Mollie's here!' Mum shouted up the stairs.

Ah, Mollie. My best friend since nursery. She has always been there for me, even when we were four years old and my dad died, she was there to help me get through it and comfort me. She was a real true friend. We'd never had an argument, and I don't think we ever will.

I ran downstairs and gave Mollie a great big hug.

'Happy birthday!' she screeched happily and gave me a big, wrapped up present and a card.

'Aww thanks, babes! You're amazing!' I had a huge smile on my face, and so did she.

Mollie had come over early to help with party decorations. She's sooo gonna be an interior designer when she's older. Or party designer. Or ANY designer to be honest!

We put up loads of banners, posters and balloons with the help of Gigantic Carl (he's now 6 foot 4", with a six-pack) and Mum.

An hour later, guests started ariving. Jay arrived first. He was 6ft, an inch taller than me. He had chocolate coloured hair, brown eyes, and a toothy smile. He was kinda muscly, with a 4-pack. The only thing that was a let down was that I was smarter than him. MUCH smarter. We've been together for nearly a month. He kissed me on the lips and hugged me round my waist with one hand. With the other, he held a small, wrapped box. 'Here you go, beautiful,' he gave me his toothy smile and handed it to me.

I returned with my dazzling smile. 'Thanks, Jay! I'll just go put it in the living room.' He followed me. When I was about to walk back out, he gave me another hug, and kissed me on the lips again. This kiss lasted longer, and was very interesting. It was the longest kiss I'd ever had with a boy, and I've kissed a lot of boys. It was starting to get more heated, when Carl interrupted with a rude, 'Ehh em'. We separated quickly, but Jay still had an arm wrapped around my waist. Carl eyed it irritatingly, while Jay kept his toothy grin in place. 'Some more of your friends are arriving, Kaila.'

'Oh, OK. Thanks Carl,' I said. As we walked out, I saw Carl give Jay a dirty look. He was so protective, but I loved him for it.

Lots more people had started arriving. I greeted them, welcomed them in and graciously accepted their presents and thanks for inviting them.

When everyone had arrived, the first thing we did was tell everyone what was happening.

The girls and boys were gonna be separated. The girls were gonna go to my special dressing room, and we were all going to do our make-up, nails and hair. They were already dressed in party outfits. The boys were gonna watch a movie while we were all getting ready, and then a surprise was in store for all of them. The only people who knew what was going to happen was Mum, Carl, Mollie, Jay and me. We were all going out to a five-star restaurant.

Yes, it was gonna be expensive, but we can afford it.

As the girls went into my dressing room, and the boys travelled down to the basement cinema, I quickly ran into my room. I went to the little drawer by my bed. I pulled out the little photo I kept of my dad which was hidden under my school books. I found it in the attic, where Mum put all of Dad's stuff after he died. Nobody knew I kept it here. Not even Mum, but I think I might tell Mollie. After all, she IS my best friend.

Anyway, I pulled out the photo and looked at my dad. I smiled, and touched his cheek with my finger. 'I love you,' I whispered. Then I smiled again, put the photo away and walked out of my room, feeling a bit more energetic. I closed the door securely and headed to my dressing room, which was right above my bedroom.

Overall, our house had 5 floors. There was the basement, which had the mini-cinema (with a popcorn AND candyfloss machine) and a mini-spa. Then the ground floor, which had the gigantic living room joined with the kitchen, which led out into the field-like back garden. Above that was all of our bedrooms. Each had a balcony, looking out over the beautiful landscape, and each had a marble en-suite bathroom. There was also a luxurious guest bedroom, which also had a balcony and en-suite. The next floor had the game room, and all of our specially designed dressing rooms, and finally there was the attic. The biggest room of all that held memorial site for Lennie. When it was his birthday, we would all go up there for a private celebration. It wasn't a particularly happy time, but we felt we needed to do it to remember him.

I got in the elevator that went right through the middle of our mansion and went to level 4. I could've taken the stairs, but I felt like using the elevator for once. When I got out, I went to the dressing room where all the girls were either getting their hair, make-up or nails done by some professionals that we'd hired.

As I walked through, I got lots of 'This is amazing!'s and 'I LOVE this party!'s and 'Oh my God, this is the best party EVER!'s from my friends. Mollie was having her hair done so I went over and set next to her, where Jennie, my personal hairdresser, started styling my long blonde, poker straight hair.

'Everyone is so excited. I think you're officially the most amazing person ever!' Mollie squealed and giggled.

I laughed aswell. 'I just hope they have a good time, that's all. I want this to be a party that nobody forgets!'

'Well, if this is what you're doing for your fourteenth, what the HELL are you gonna do for your sixteenth, eighteenth and twenty-first?' she exclaimed.

I pursed my lips thoughtfully. 'Hmm, I don't know. But I'll think of something!' I promised.

We both laughed aloud.

Mum put on some music. Even though she was born in the seventies, she has got a good, modern taste in music!

The make-overs took half an hour more than expected, but it was worth it. Everyone looked sensational. My hair was curled, my make-up natural and not at all over-the-top and my nails were manicured to perfection.

We had to take a few trips with the elevator, as it couldn't hold everyone (there was about 30 girls here, and about 20 boys, maybe more. Then there was me, Carl and Mum too, so there was over 50 of us at my party). But eventually, we all got to the basement. Some girls looked embarrassed because the boys hadn't seen us yet, and others, including me, looked forward to the boys setting eyes on us.

When we flounced in, they all turned their heads and a lot of 'Wow's, 'Woah's, and wolf-whistles broke out. I had to admit, we were all stunning. Jay came over to me and whispered in my ear, 'You look gorgeous,' while I giggled in delight.

Mum then announced that the limos were outside waiting to take us to the restaurant. We all cheered and charged up the stairs. Outside, there was 5 limos outside, which seated just over 10 people in each one. There was one that was purple with a banner across it saying, 'Birthday Girl Alert!' That was obviously for me.

I had arranged which limo everyone was to go in. I felt nice for once so I out together friends and couples. In my limo, there was:

-Me

-Jay

-Mollie

-Mum

-Carl

-Jake (yes, I had invited Carl's best friend since forever, and famous-teammate)

-Cindy (Carl's girlfriend)

-Isabelle (Jake's girlfriend)

-Jennie (my hairdresser)

-And Matt and Rob

Yes, that is eleven people, but Mum sat in the front sit with the driver.

I had invited Matt and Rob. I had to. They had been the ones that were always there for us after Lennie's death. They had moved in for the first year and helped us until Mum got back on her feet. They were always over our house, and they were the best uncles ever, even though they weren't actually our uncles.

Right now, Matt and Jennie were flirting with each other. Awww, bless 'em! So were Carl and Cindy, and Jake and Isabelle. Jay was flirting with me too, which I totally appreciated.

The limo was stocked with champagne for the adults and Coca-Cola for us young kiddies. I was a bit peeved at first, but then Carl let us all have a small glass of champagne. Which was OK. I guess.

My favourite music was playing, which made me even more happier. I was into R&B. You know, like Tinie Tempah, Rihanna, Will.I.Am, The Black Eyed Peas, Cheryl Cole, Jessie J, etc.

Eventually, we got to the restaurant. It was so elegant! I've gotta admit, I'm not elegant at all, but it was still great. The food was delicious, and so was the non-alcoholic cocktails that we were given. For dessert, we had a choice from chocolate fudge cake, strawberry cheesecake, Brownie a la Mode, trifle, banana split and fruit cake. I, of course, went for chocolate fudge cake. It was 'devine' as my mum so extravagantly put it. Mollie had the same, as we both adore chocolate fudge cake. The most popular dessert, though, was the strawberry cheesecake. I had to admit, it looked delicious. But I was happy with my chocolate fudge cake.

On our way back in the limo, Jay and I spoke privately. He was still flirting, naturally. He kissed me on my cheek and said that this was officially the best party ever.

'You haven't even seen the best bit yet!' I said.

Another surprise for everyone - nobody knew that Tinie Tempah was gonna be performing. And, again, the only people who did know was my mum, Carl, Mollie and me.

Mum mentioned on our way out of the restaurant that Tinie Tempah was setting up his mini-stage in our back garden right now, and that by the time we got back, he'd be ready to perform. I nearly screamed with excited, but I held it back and just gave Mum a huge smile.

Just like Mum said, Tinie Tempah was ready to perform the second we got back. When everyone seen him, they all cheered. The girls screeched with excitement, and the boys 'Woo'd happily.

'Oh my God, I love Tinie Tempah!' One girl screeched.

As Tinie Tempah started his singing and dancing routine, everyone else started their dancing routine too. The couples danced together, and the singles danced with their friends. Mid-way through, Tinie stopped.

'Are you having a good time, everyone?' he shouted.

'Yeah!!!' Everyone screamed in reply.

'I'd just like to say a very happy birthday to an amazing, beautiful young lady. Everyone give it up for Kaila!'

As everyone cheered, I climbed onto the stage with the help of Tinie. He gave me a hug, which I was VERY pleased about, and handed me a present.

'Oh my gosh, thank you so much! You didn't have to do that!' I exclaimed.

'Well, I did. I hope you like it,' he winked at me and turned back to the energetic audience, still with his arm around my shoulders. 'This is just a song specially for Kaila.' Then as I climbed back off the stage into the arms of Jay, Tinie started singing 'Miami 2 Ibiza'. I loved that song, and immediately started dancing with Jay.

I was very oftenly told that I was a great dancer, so, if course, I had to show off my skills. But really, I didn't need people to tell me that I was a good dancer, because I KNEW I was.

After a few more of his amazing songs, Tinie Tempah said again a huge happy birthday to me, a big thanks for everyone who came and a 'I hope you enjoyed it' which of course everyone did, then said goodbye and started packing everything up.

This has been an absolutely amazing day, and there was still the sleepover yet!

The people who were staying was Mollie (obviously), Cindy, Isabelle, and a few more of my close friends. Jake was also staying the night. That might seem a little weird, because he was Carl's friend, but he was staying in the guest room.

The sleepover was the funniest thing ever. And the best sleepover in the history of sleepovers. We watched a few scary movies in the mini-cinema with bowls of popcorn, that had to keep being topped-up. Ali, one of my close friends, fell asleep quite early. She had a habit of doing that. But we made the best out of it, by squirting squirty cream on her lips, and drawing a monobrow, moustache and bright red spots on her face. Don't worry, we used washable ink. But she wouldn't mind anyway - she took everything as a joke. She was the class clown.

Another girl, Helen, got so scared watching the movies that she had to leg it to the basement bathroom and throw up. After that, we stopped watching the horrors, and watched Mum's saucy romance movies that I'd found earlier that day. We laughed aloud at all the dirty sex scenes, and when Carl stomped down to see what the fuss was about, along with Jake, we all hurried to turn off the movie, which was currently showing a man and woman in deep, saucy session.

We tried to stifle our giggles, but we couldn't help letting them slip out.

Unfortunately, Carl and Jake caught sight of what we were watching before we could turn it off. After confiscating the DVDs, they went back upstairs, along with Cindy and Isabelle. We all knew what they were gonna get up to, but seriously. They're adults, they're in love, they can have sex if they want! It's not dirty anyway, it's natural.

So, after all the DVDs were gone, we needed something else to do. We went out into the back garden, set up the ginormous tent and then I decided on Dares.

First, I dared Mollie to stand outside Carl's room and record what he and Cindy were saying. Or rather what they were doing. She came back down a few minutes later with her phone and started playing the recording.

Oh. My. God. What Carl and Cindy was doing was HILARIOUS. They weren't having sex. They weren't even kissing, or flirting. Instead they were discussing the economical climate. What a pair of weirdos!

Mollie went and dared me back to go and record Jake and Isabella. I went up and was about to record when I heard some dirty remarks. I tiptoed back to the tent and said, 'You don't wanna hear THAT,' to which we all broke into stitches.

We all exchanged funny, disgusting and serious dares, all which were done. This lasted until about six in the morning, when we collapsed into an exhausted sleep.

It had been the best, longest and funniest day ever!

**OK, I know Kaila sounds really spoilt and everything, but that's how it's supposed to be!! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I had so much fun writing it! Remember to vote and comment! Peace out people!
