TWENTY| THE VIRGIN GARY

━━━━━━━★☾★☾★☾━━━━━━━

5 YEARS LATER;
LOCATION: TEMPORAL ZONE

JOHN CONSTANTINE WAS A PAIN IN THE ASS. That's something that hadn't change within the past five years. Five years ago, John Constantine was able to put an end to the rising darkness alongside Olivia and his friends: Zed and Chas. It didn't take the warlock long to figure out that the angel Manny wasn't who he said he was. He had in fact fallen, using all of them as pawns. Olivia unfortunately didn't know too much about the fallen angel. Due to her fathers fears of losing her to this unexpected foe, she was kept in the dark during their last few battles. All she knew was that Manny wanted John to teach Zed and Olivia how to use their abilities, to build them up to their full potential, then swoop in and somehow get them to join him.

A month after, the team had split up for the better, but they very much still kept in touch. Chas finally went home to his daughter, and fixed his once broken family. Zed uses her gifts to help others. She goes wherever her visions lead her, but she had never been in more control of her psychic abilities than she is now. And Olivia and John? Well, they moved to New Orleans at an attempt to be a normal family. Well, as normal as they could be. Their brand new life, however, it had worked for a while. They lived in a decent apartment minutes away from the French Quarter. John found jobs here and there within the community. Not surprisingly, many people came to him for his magical abilities and they paid well. John had even fell in love.

Desmond had been welcomed into their small and slightly broken family with open arms. He even eventually moved in with them. He had helped Olivia learn how to drive, and allowed her to use his car when she took the drivers test. Her, John, and Desmond would spend every night cooking dinner together. They continued her mother's old tradition of family movie night every Friday. He went to her high school graduation. He was there when she received her acceptance letter from the art school she dreamed of attending since she was ten. He danced stupidly in the living room with her and John when they read she had gotten in.

They were happy. Until Desmond broke John's heart. Olivia didn't know much about what happened, which left her more confused. All John told her was that Desmond decided that he was too much. That they were too much. He didn't want to be a part of their family anymore. And from their everything went downhill. Her father was heartbroken and he decided that New Orleans couldn't be home for him anymore. He moved back to New York with Olivia's permission while she stayed back in New Orleans. What was she supposed to say? No? He was miserable, and she was no longer a little girl anymore. But at least he had payed off the apartment for a year. They talk on the phone every night, and they planned on visiting one another when she was on break.

Which brought Olivia back to her previous statement that her father was a pain. She was greeted with a message burning a literal hole in her jacket pocket. Why couldn't John just text her like a normal person? The note read she was to follow one of the nails from the coffin of St. Padua and it would lead her to the jumpship of the Waverider. The jumpship was apparently programmed by Gideon to take her back to the time ship where he was waiting for her. After finding the nail he had somehow manage to slip into her handbag, she did as she was told.

"Holy shit." Olivia muttered in awe as she wandered the halls of the Waverider. Her fingers skimmed the walls of the ship as she navigated her way through.

"Your father is just down the hall, Miss Edwards." The A.I., Gideon, told her.

Olivia shook her head slightly. This was all still new for her. She had never stepped foot in time ship before. She knew of the Legends and what they did for living, however, she never met any of them except for Sara. Oh! She also met Ava and Gary back when they came to her father for help to, yet again, save Sara Lance. Apparently she had bonded with a death totem? Whatever the hell that was.

"This is King Solomon's original grimoire. The oldest magical textbook in existence." She heard her father's voice get louder the closer she reached them. "Now, if there's a spell to quell our equine friend, it'll be in here."

"Well, not to pressure you, but the entire fate of the sexual revolution is in the balance here." Captain Lance said with her arms folded across her chest.

John sighed. "It is my favorite revolution."

Olivia smirked as she entered the parlour room. "Of course it is." She jested earning the attention of the two blondes gathered around the table. They both simultaneously smiled at Olivia's presence.

"Hey, kid!" Sara beamed.

"Captain Lance." She greeted her with a mock salute, which only humored Sara. She then turned to her father. She shoved her hand through her coat pocket. Her pointer finger slipped through the burnt hole. "You owe me a new coat."

John's mouth parted in response when Gideon spoke through the intercom. "I will gladly fix your coat, Miss Edwards."

"Oh! Uh, thank you..." Olivia replied shyly.

"You're very welcome."

Constantine smirked. "There."

"Send a text like a normal person next time." Olivia teased, although, she was still quite serious. Gideon wasn't always going to be around to fix her clothes.

"Yeah, yeah." John mumbled before he pulled her into a tight and much needed embrace. He hadn't seen her in months. Not since Desmond left.

"John!" A chirpy Ray Palmer broke up their short hug. "Welcome aboard."

John smiled smugly before his attention shifted back on the grimoire. "Hey, Ray big man!"

Ray's sight then landed on the younger blonde who had been hugging the warlock mere minutes ago. Curiosity getting the best of him, Ray asked, "Who's this? A witness? Another fellow hero?-" His eyes grew wide at a thought. "A new friend?"

Olivia's eyebrows scrunched together. "What? No. I'm Olivia." She stared at the team's confused faces. Olivia rolled her eyes.

Sara chucked to herself before stepping out from behind the table. "Guys, meet John's daughter, Olivia." It was almost laughable to see the look of complete and utter shock on their faces. Olivia had to bite down on the inside of her cheek to withhold from laughing.

"Constantine has a kid...?" Nate Heywood said slowly as if he was still processing.

Zari Tomaz clasped Nate on his shoulder. "No, it actually makes sense when you think about it."

It was now that Olivia had been able to fully take in their appearance, leaving her a tad disgusted. They were covered in what look like glittery goo. "What the hell happened to you guys?"

John snorted. "Glad to see you're all back from the land of milk and honey.

"I'm still a little fuzzy on how exactly we were-"

"Roofied by a horse." Mick Rory interjected.

"The beast sprays a powerful mind-altering hallucinogen to disarm its prey." John explained as he flipped through the book. He then stopped on a specific page. "Ah! 'How to Expel a Magical Creature from the Mortal Realm'. Now the ingredients for this spell aren't so easy to come by." He looked to the team with his hands stuffed in his pockets. "Don't suppose any of you lot have the saliva from a nine-fingered man, now do you?"

Olivia looked to him with narrowed eyes. "What? That's oddly specific. What makes you think they have that?"

Ray peered down at his hands before he raised them for all to see. "You could chop off one of my pinkies."

"Is-is he serious?" She asked Sara in disbelief.

"Deadly." A new voice entered the room. Olivia looked to the new face who had just joined them, and her breath almost caught in her throat. He was young. Most likely her age or a little older. Either way, it was clear he was the youngest of the team. He had fair skin, short, light brown hair, with chocolate brown eyes to match. He wore a grey sweatshirt with black sweatpants and black air forces. "But it's not that big of a deal, really. Gideon could grow it back."

"Oh..." Olivia replied slowly. She couldn't help but be a bit mesmerized by his beauty. She found him to be good looking in an average, everyday sense than otherworldly. She couldn't really explain it, but she found that far more attractive than the beauty you'd see in the movies or magazines.

"No, Noah-" Nate interrupted him before he could get another word in. "You're uncle's not going to be the giving tree. Now, as every Deadhead knows, Jerry Garcia was missing most of his middle finger on his right hand from a wood chopping accident."

"Cool, so how do we get his salvia?" Zari asked, earning a smirk from the historian.

Noah shook his head. "No, this is stupid. Just let me cut off my finger and then have Gideon grow it back. It'll be faster then coming up with a plot to-"

"No, Noah! Don't ruin my one shot at meeting Jerry Garcia!" He whined almost childlike. He turned to Sara swiftly. "I got an idea! You relay the rest of the ingredients through the coms. Come on, team."

"Ooh!" Ray cheered as he ran out the room with Mick following reluctantly.

Noah sighed. "I guess we're off."

"Sorry, buddy." Sara called out as she watched his retreating figure.

"We need the protection stone of a powerful shaman. And the lock of a doomed woman." John informed Sara as she repeated it back to the boys. "And for our final ingredient-" the smile vanished from his face as he peered down at the open page.

"What is it?" Olivia asked her father nervously.

"Quis virginem..."

"What?" Questioned Captain Lance.

"A virgin." He clarified, and Olivia laughed.

"Yeah, good luck with that."

Zari spoke into her com. "Apparently virgins are like catnip to unicorns, and we need one to volunteer."

Olivia smiled slowly. "Hold on, the big bad creature is a unicorn? Please, tell me you're joking."

Sara sighed. "I wish I could."

"So what do we do?"

A smirk then took over the warlock's face. He leaned over the table they gathered around. "Oh, come to think of it I do know one virgin."

Sara shook her head defiantly. "No. Absolutely not. We're not using Gary as bait. He'll just go and tell Ava. He's not an option."

John growled to himself. "Well, I don't think we have any other options. Now, if you have one then we'll gladly take your suggestion."

"Uh...." Sara looked around the room momentarily before her sight landed on Liv. "What about Olivia?"

Olivia snorted. "Yeah, I can't help you with this one." She chuckled but turned it into a fake cough when she saw her father's glare. "Uh, let's go with Gary! Remember, Gary?" She added in hopes the attention would be taken off her.

"No, not a chance."

━━━━━━━★☾★☾★☾━━━━━━━

"This feels wrong." Said a shirtless Gary Green. His sight jumped from the legends to the Constantine's. Olivia couldn't help but feel bad for the bureau agent. He was really sweet to her when she met him a few months back, but it seemed like everyone viewed him as a joke. He was just an energetic, sweet, dorky, and at times naïve man. But she always felt he meant well.

"Well don't worry, we'll be watching from a short distance, and you'll be fine." Said Ray with his usual boy-scout attitude.

"What am I supposed to do with the pomegranate?" He asked as he studied the fruit at hand.

"Oh, the unicorns, they can't get enough of them, mate." John lied straight through his teeth fueling Olivia's guilt.

"Yeah that, and human hearts." Mumbled Zari to Noah.

Gary studied the team carefully. "So, the pomegranate is the bait?"

"Yeah, we wouldn't put an interim member of our team in jeopardy, right guys?" Said Sara and the team reluctantly nodded. It was a good thing yet sad how gullible poor Gary was, because if it was anyone else they wouldn't have believed a word. The team was terrible at masking the truth. Olivia noticed they were always painfully awkward.

A wide grin took up all of Gary's face. "I'm an interim legend?" They all nodded awkwardly once again.

"Uh, one more question, are you sure that I'm virgin because that one thing we did-" Gary asked as he rubbed the pomegranate.

"Positive, mate."

"Wow." Olivia couldn't fight back her smirk.

Sara clasped her hands together as she turned to face her team. "Alright, everyone get into your positions. Ray and Zari hang back on the right, while John, Olivia, Noah, and I take the left."

Olivia followed her father and captain Lance. She knelt down on one side of her father behind a bush. Sara knelt down on the other side of John while Noah sat beside the youngest blonde. "We're going to hell. I thought I'd just let you all know." Olivia told them with a frown as she watched poor Gary.

John shrugged. "I've known that for years. However, I think I might've just got me upgraded to a suite with a nice view." John flashed her a grin, and she elbowed him gently in his side.

"Maybe we should've just told him." Noah said as he looked at Gary with a slight frown. Olivia could make out the guilt in his brown eyes.

"Oh, right, and he would've been onboard with the possibility that he could be eaten?" Sara replied sarcastically.

He glanced back at Constantine momentarily. A small grin working its way to his face. "Well, he seems to like John so..." Liv laughed at the look of complete and utter disbelief on her father's face.

"Hey, kid...we don't speak of that." Said John in disgust, and Noah raised his hands in mock surrender.

"Yoo-hoo! Mr. unicorn!" Gary practically yodeled. Olivia and Noah simultaneously bit down on the inside of their cheek so they wouldn't laugh aloud. "Come get this nice, juicy, red pomegranate."

Sara grinned as she nudged John's side playfully. "Admit it, this is fun working with a team." John was currently occupied with reviewing the spell in the now opened grimoire.

"Well, if ol' Gary gets eaten alive, it only goes to prove my point: People who care about us die." John said quite cynically.

"What was that?" Gary asked when he heard his name due to John not even trying to keep his voice down.

"Nothing." Replied Noah with a shy smile.

"You're golden, carry on, yeah?" Constantine shouted back at the bureau agent. "Oh, hold it up. Up a bit. More." John quickly demonstrated for him to copy. "That's the money."

"Here it comes." Noah whispered-shouted as he saw the unicorn slowly come into view.

"Come on, pretty pony. Come on. Come on. Enjoy your snack." Gary called out innocently.

Olivia stared at what she used to believe to be a mythical creature in awe. "This is...this is ridiculous. I'm not gonna lie." She turned to John. "When I came home to visit you, I didn't expect to travel back in time to Woodstock to vanquish a unicorn. This is ridiculously funny, don't you agree?"

John chuckled. "I can now put this on my qualifications."

Olivia nodded eagerly. "Which means you can now charge more for your services." She held her hand out for him to high-five, which he enthusiastically obliged.

Sara shook her head. "Seriously? We need to be ready to make sure Gary doesn't die or Ava will kill me. She really hates the paperwork that comes with the unexpected deaths of employees."

"Yeah, we have a problem. I think Gary just figured out he's the bait." Noah interrupted with wide eyes. His sight was trained on the creature with blood dripping from its mouth.

"Oh no, that's not pomegranate juice, is it?" Gary had begun to panic. "Guys?"

Sara gritted her teeth together. "John, whatever you're gonna do, do it now."

"All right, here goes." Said John before he downed the ingredients from the bowl.

"I don't wanna die a virgin."

"This is crazy." Olivia muttered as she peeked through the spaces in between her fingers when she attempted to cover her face. "This is such a train wreck. I wanna look away but I can't."

"Seriously you're meditating right now?" Sara gaped when she noticed John with his eyes closed peacefully. She glanced back at Gary to find him face to face with the not-so-gentle creature. "John, hurry!"

A glowing rune appeared on the warlock's forehead as he chanted an incantation. The beast's true form presented itself as flames tainted its one pure white coat leaving it dark as coal. Its practically just flesh and bone. "Holy shit!" Noah cried. "This is...this is disgusting. I don't think I'll ever see unicorns the same again."

"Come on, John." Sara begged nervously.

"Dad!"

John's eyes snapped open burning a golden hue. A glowing shield of sorts appeared from his hands as he quickly maneuvered to stand directly behind the horse. With every emphasis on every word in his incantation, it pushed the shield outward until it was a portal. Olivia watched with intrigue as the beast was slowly being pulled toward the portal. That was until it latched onto Gary's arm. The blonde gasped loudly as she not only seen the horrific incident, but heard the Unicom chomp down on Gary's wrist.

"Help! Help!"

Noah looked to his captain. "Sara, we gotta help him!"

The three of them swiftly ran to the agents side and began to tug him back. Soon after, Zari and Ray joined in on this unfortunate game of tug-a-war. When the unicorn wouldn't budge, Olivia quickly reached for the blade she noticed in the waistband of Sara's pants that twinkled in the sunlight. With immense force, she threw the blade into the unicorns neck causing it to release Gary's arm and go straight into the portal.

"Well, that was....something...." Noah said while he tried to catch his breath.

Before anyone could respond to the youngest Palmer, the unicorn popped back out of the portal to bite Gary right in his chest. Olivia yelped as she fell startled onto the ground. But thankfully the unicorn was swallowed up by the portal before it shut completely. "You okay?" Asked Zari as she helped the blonde back on her feet.

"Yeah, thanks." She replied breathlessly as she dusted the dirt off her jeans. Two strands of her hair had managed to fell out of her messy ponytail in the midst of the chaos.

"Gary, are you okay?" Sara asked.

"Just a scratch."

"Where'd the unicorn go?" Asked Ray.

"Sent that bastard straight to hell, didn't I?" John bragged with a smirk as he walked over toward them. "Yup, folks, that is some Grade A magic right there."

"How do you manage to not fall over with that big head of yours?" Olivia asked him with a smirk, and he rolled his eyes at her remark.

"Maybe the bureau will up our ratings. People do love the supernatural." Ray thought aloud. Noah gently patted his uncle on the back as if to let him know that-despite the others ignoring him-he was paying attention.

"Oh, my god. Are you sure you're okay?" Olivia asked the agent when she noticed the crimson dripping from his covered wound.

"Gary, you're like really bleeding." Added the captain.

Gary decided to peek at his wound. "Ah! The unicorn bite my nipple off!"

"Hey, maybe Gideon can make you a new one." Zari suggested.

John swatted the air. "Forget it, mate." He then clasped his hand on the agents shoulder. "Come on, it's a badge of honor. You see, my soul is heading straight to hell, but your nipple it just got there first, that's all."

"Is that supposed to make him feel better?" Noah asked with raised brows.

"It's like we're two birds of the same dark feather." Gary replied love stricken.

John shook off his uneasiness created from Gary's uncomfortably intense gaze. "Yeah, yeah, that's right, mate. Come on, let's grab a beer. All right?" Olivia watched in disbelief as John lead Gary toward the time ship. She was still a bit puzzled about today's turn of events. She couldn't even begin to accurately sum up how she felt.

"What the hell just happened?"
