🔘Chapter 220: You are really no fun at parties!
"Nasty! Nasty! How dare that boy openly flirt with those girls?!"
An old man in a tweedy suit paired with bauta cera mask said as he stared daggers at Wang Yuvin with clenched fist and gritted teeth.
"Relaxe! He seemed not flirting with the girls to me. It was more like the other way around."
The old man wearing a Zanni mask beside him replied in a calm voice.
"Open your eyes! He was acting so coy with the girls in that table! How shameless! Even philandering in front of his young niece!"
The old man said, his angry face hidden beneath the mask he wore.
"Enough of the nonsense bickering! Why can't you see that there was something about that lad that drew people to him? He is a good-looking young man with a nice physique and a welcoming nature."
The other old man said as he excitedly cut open a seafood stuffed roasted lobster with his hands.
"Are you telling me that he wasn't flirting? That the girls just came to him, when in fact he was the one who approached their table with a breath-taking smile?! Aren't we friends? Why are you on that boy's side?" The old man said as he now glared at the person sitting beside him.
"Friends? I do not have a dumb friend! Excuse you, the young lad is the master of tonight's feast. Of course, he had to entertain esteemed guests. Their hotel should leave a lasting good impression not a negative one! Ha! Are you really a lawyer, Chairman Kiang?!" The other old man snapped.
How can he savor and enjoy the taste of the delicious food in front of him if the person beside him kept on complaining to him?
"Y-you! Why did you yell out my last name like that! What if my enemies heard that and decided to kill me right here, right now!" Chairman Kiang low-key fixed the mask he wore.
Making sure that his face was safely hidden underneath.
"Stop overthinking! Also, you already hired elite bodyguards from HPA, right?"
Chairman Xu said before he indulged himself with the delicacy in his hands.
"I did not hire them for myself, I hired them for my granddaughter. But that stubborn child! She can always find ways to escape them. Now, my poor heart is even more restless than ever!" Chairman Kiang's voice was full of frustration.
"Okay. nom– chomp—nom—chomp."
Chairman Xu's response was short, seemingly not interested with the Chairman's senseless rants.
"You glutton! How can you turn a blind eye to your long-time friend? You dare ignore me just because of the lobster you are eating?!"
However, it seemed that Chairman Kiang would not let him off the hook after all.
'Gulp!' Chairman Xu was not in a hurry to eat.
However, he wanted to knock some senses to his old friend that he ate the lobster in a single gulp.
Wiping the sides of his mouth with a table napkin, he then said:
"Atty. Kiang Jiyo, let me remind you. I attended this party to taste sumptuous delicacies and to show support to a new found friend's business. I went here to enjoy not to hear you lambast the friend I am supporting based on your limited knowledge! No wonder your granddaughter did not attend! You are really no fun at the parties!"
"You! Don't you know that I am the life of every party I have been to?! Hmppp! Also, initially, my little Lei did not want anything to do with this party. But when she found out that the owner of this hotel was that boy and his family, she became overly excited! However, after the lunch we had in the Wang Villa, she suddenly showed great disinterest! Even destroying the expensive gown, she bought from your wife!" Chairman Kiang said as he angrily cut a fleshy pink strip of garnished roasted salmon.
"You assumed that Leilei's decision of not attending tonight's party was because Yuvin and her had a falling out?"
"Of course! Can there be another reason?" Chairman Kiang replied as he moved his mask some inches up, showing his mouth.
"You are such a negative person! No wonder bad luck is strongly attracted to you! Don't be like that. I do not think Yuvin is a bad guy. Didn't he save Lei from her demise last time? He was also there when your little granddaughter was forced by your ex son-in-law to get engaged with Dr. Yang's playboy son." Chairman Xu said truthfully.
"He did not even ask anything in return. What he was showing you and your granddaughter, then till now, was nothing but kindness. And this is how you chose to repay him? You should have given him the benefit of the doubt, my old friend. Everything could just be a major understanding."
Chairman Xu added before he took a guzzle from his sugar pop drink, seemingly ready to clear away the sizzling mouth-watering seafood dishes in front of them.
"Now that you said that, I just realized that I am being unreasonable. But I cannot be blamed either. I am just being overprotective of my precious granddaughter." Chairman Kiang said as he finally gave the strip of fish a taste.
His eyes then glowed with delight; the trout was overwhelmingly delicious.
"I understand. I was just once like you. I was super strict and protective of my daughter. Also, I did not approve of her boyfriend then, husband now at first. I always slander the poor guy in front of my daughter and of anyone. No wonder my son-in-law grew distant to me and seldom shows my two handsome grandsons to me and my wife." Chairman Xu said in a bitter voice.
"Aigo! What to do! I just love her too much that I don't want her to get hurt or feel pain."
"Stop belittling your granddaughter. Stop treating her like an imbecile who would always be dependent on you. She's a grown up now. And she grew up well thanks to your hard work. You should just let her steer the wheel of her life and adjust her sailings based on what she wants not based on yours. If she's hurt, ease her pain. If she falls down, help her up. Also, talk to her! For heaven's sake! Do not just assume things!" Chairman Xu replied.
He then filled his plate with mussels and mushrooms before putting a generous serving of creamy soup in his bowl.
"Hay! Shut it! Enough of our nonsense chitchat. Let us just indulge ourselves to the perfectly cooked meals in front of us!"
Chairman Kiang said before he stuffed some seafood drizzled in a special spicy sauce.
"Hahaha! Now we are talking!"
The two friends then finally enjoyed eating as they continue to sat before a splendid feast.
🔘Chapter 221: Walls And Ears
"Achoo!" Wang Yuvin's sudden sneeze arrived as an announcement, making Europa somehow worried about her uncle.
"Uncle, are you alright?"
Europa spoke with her eyes exhibiting a strong concern on her uncle's health, instantly soothing Wang Yuvin's mood.
"I am okay, sweetie." Wang Yuvin spoke with such a soft voice.
He then smiled sweetly, believing this simple act may have a profound effect on Europa's current mood.
"Are you sure, uncle? How about you take a rest for a while?"
Europa's sweet voice made Wang Yuvin felt as if he was being wrapped in a blanket of caring.
"It was nothing serious, sweetie. Maybe someone was bad-mouthing me."
"Bad-mouthing you, uncle? What exactly do you mean?" Curiosity flashed in the little girl's eyes.
"Hmm... It simply means that somebody is saying rude things about me."
"Oh, my! What a bad person! How can he say such rude things about you when you are the best uncle in the world!"
Europa hugged Wang Yuvin. It was as if her way of telling him that all will be okay.
"Hahaha! You really know how to flatter me. Well, people are always quick to judge. But that is okay. As long as your heart is pure and your conscience is clean, no need to mind other person's harsh remarks."
"Yes, uncle! You are right about that!" Europa said smiling ear to ear.
"Ah! Before we completely forget it, let's feed Misha now. Also, you can stay with her while I continue greeting guests."
Wang Yuvin said when he remembered Qin Rong's words when he approached him earlier.
"Yes, right! But I left her meal on the table with uncle Rong."
"It is okay. We can ask for a new one and have it delivered in our suite." Wang Yuvin replied as he carried Europa up in his arms.
He then wandered his eyes around, seemingly looking for the hotel's general manager.
After he successfully sited the personnel, he marched straight unto her location.
He was just some steps from his point of origin when the general manager noticed him and Europa approaching.
Instead of waiting for them to get to her, she walked towards them and met them halfway.
"Good evening, Master Wang. How can I be of assistance?"
The General Manager asked politely, even slightly bowing her head to Wang Yuvin and Europa.
"Me and my niece will be leaving the party for a short while. We will be heading to our suite to feed my niece's pet. So, I need you to do three things for me. First thing, I want that guy to bring the meal of my niece's pet to our suite."
Wang Yuvin said, low-key pointing at Rentao.
"Second, do not tell anyone where our suite is located. If somebody asks for me, just tell them that I went a trip to the comfort room. But never tell them that I went to our private suite.
"Lastly, if something bad happens, immediately report it to me. You know the direct number to my family's private suite, right?" Wang Yuvin finally said, his gaze firm and calm.
"Yes, Master. This subordinate understands and strictly obey your orders." The general manager replied promptly.
"That would be all. Thank you for your hard work."
"Thank you for your hard work!" Europa imitated Wang Yuvin's words.
The uncle and niece duo then continued to walk their way out of the banquet hall.
Meanwhile......
"Stop pestering me, Yang Kim! How many times do I have to tell you that there is no us! We are not even friends to begin with. So, stop forcing that fake-ass union to me!"
Kiang Leilei reached the breaking point of her patience when Yang Kim did not stop calling her despite her politely turning him down the first few times.
"Then let us fake it until everything becomes real! I will be a good husband to you, Lei."
Yang Kim seemed not fazed by Kiang Leilei's rejection.
"Listen, I am too young to get married. Also, I do not want to get married to you! Not now, not tomorrow, not even in the next life!" Kiang Leilei fired back at Yang Kim, hoping that her words can finally knock some sense to him.
"Why? Is it because of that filthy insect?! You do not even know who that shady guy is! Do you even know what type of family he came from? Open your eyes, Lei. I might be a playboy but I came from a reputable lineage and my family is from a clean background!"
"Would you please stop it already?! You are too full of yourself and your family. And that guy has nothing to do with our situation! Do not involve him! Anyway, I will hang up now! Stop calling me or I will file a restraining order against you!" Kiang Leilei immediately pressed the end call button.
She did not want to hear anymore bullsh*t from Yang Kim. She also was not in the mood to argue.
Ever since she overheard Wang Yuvin's phone conversation, she suddenly cannot think straight anymore.
'Nah. She doesn't know about us. And I don't have plans of revealing the real me just yet.'
These exact string of words Wang Yuvin uttered kept on replaying inside Kiang Leilei's head.
"What does he mean about that? The real him?"
Kiang Leilei murmured under her breath as she gently rubbed her temples, her mind wandering where it should not but her heart was trying its best to confine her thoughts to where they should roam.
She then climbed up the bed and buried her face in the soft satin pillows.
"Wang Yuvin is a nice guy! He holds his family close to his heart and respects his sister most of all. He is a gentleman and never took advantage of me."
Kiang Leilei spoke as she squashed her face into one of the pillows.
"And you are an idiot Kiang Leilei! Why did you have to give him the cold treatment! He did not do any wrong! Besides, weren't you the one who eavesdropped on his phone conversation? How shameless of you!"
Kiang Leilei scolded herself as she rolled back and forth on the bed.
"Stupid! You even destroyed your gown! How are you supposed to attend the masquerade ball now?!" Kiang Leilei halted herself from rolling and sat upright.
She then struck her head with a pillow.
"Oh, boy!" A wide smile suddenly carved in Kiang Leilei's lips.
She then moved out of the bed and grabbed her phone.
Staring at her phone, she then began to dial her grandfather's number.
As she waited for him to pick her call up, she decided to walked towards the balcony and breathe in some warm air.
"Oriental Europa sure had the nicest view of the city."
Kiang Leilei told herself as her gaze fell on the romantic view of the city night.
She almost forgot that she was trying to contact her grandfather if it wasn't for his voice finally answering her call.
"Dear! Sorry If I kept you waiting. I had to move out of the noisy banquet hall. Did you call because you miss your grandfather, already?" Chairman Kiang said as he stifled his giggling.
"Is Yuvin there, grams? Can you please tell him that I want to speak to him? I am occupying room 10 of the 20th floor of Oriental Europa."
Kiang Leilei said as she gently sank her teeth into her lower lip.
"Is that all, dear? Sure, I will go ahead and tell — Wait what?! What did you just say?! What are you doing here? And why are you telling me, your grandfather to send a wild beast directly into your room?! Huh! Kiang Leilei! You better stay there at room 10! I am going up to the 20th floor now to get you and take you home!"
Chairman Kiang hissed at Kiang Leilei, unaware that someone inside the cubicle was listening to his phone call, silently plotting danger to his dear granddaughter.
