Dj's Amazing 40th Birthday Race

7.3K 170 221
By chatchatding

Farrah's POV

Steve decided it was a good idea to create a birthday version of "The Amazing Race" for Dj's 40th, somehow roping Ramona and I into it.

It really only took a bribe of free homemade ice cream sandwiches to get me on board. Steve promised he'd teach me to make them and, honestly, I needed a little bit of parental attention...even if he wasn't my real father.

Steve positioned Ramona and I in the kitchen to help out with the first clue of the race.

The women were first to reach us, putting them ahead of the boys.

"You ladies need to get a clue." Ramona said

"Ramona, that's no way to speak to your elders." Kimmy scolded, "And DJ is super elderly now."

"No. She meant the clue is in the box." I laughed, patting the black box

Dj quickly rushed to open the clue, "It says we need to create a team name."

"Oh, well, that's easy. The She-Wolf Pack." Steph smiled, before the three women howled

"And just like you, DJ, that never gets old." Kimmy smiled

"You're digging a hole, Kimmy." I joked, noticing DJ's offended expression

"Before you guys run out, you might want to read the back." Ramona suggested

"The name of the next challenge is Here Comes the Ride." Dj read aloud

"Here comes the ride? Come on, could Steve be any more obvious about proposing?" Steph excitedly asked

"Guys, it's just the name of the next challenge. Steve is not proposing. The three of us need to take a tandem bike to the place where I'm the boss." Dj shooed off, before continuing to read

The women began to argue about the different places DJ tends to act bossy, before I decided to cut them off, "The vet clinic. Now hurry, I can literally smell testosterone getting closer."

As soon as the women ran out, I was proven right when the men's team came tearing through.

"Gentlemen, you are the second team to arrive." Ramona smiled

The cheered before Ramona could finish her sentence, "of two."

"The clue awaits." I continued once they realized they were behind

"We need to choose a team name." Fernando read, "I suggest team Fernando."

"Nah, that doesn't work for me." Matt disagreed

Fernando nodded, "You're right. Too long. Just Fernando."

"That's great. Let's go." Jimmy nodded, really being the only sensible one

"Hold up. We should have a name that represents us all." Matt suggested

"I suggest Team We Love Farrah. Truthful and obviously represents you all." I smiled

The three men continued to argue, before Ramona got tired of all their arguing, "Vet Clinic!"

"It's been too long since Jackson's messed something up? Think we should go check on them?" I suggested

"Probably a good idea." Ramona agreed, "But I really don't wanna."

"If they die before DJ's surprise, we're gonna be blamed and not get any cake. That's not happening." I said, quickly making my way up the stairs

_____________

I busted through Jackson's door, to find the three boys in a circle chewing gum.

"What's going on here?" Ramona asked, as I grabbed a piece from Jackson's hand

"Is this mint?" I asked

"Nope. Bubblegum." He replied, popping the bubble he'd made

"Ew. Why in the world would you pick the worst kind." I gagged, throwing it at the back of Ramona's hair, earning a glare from the girl

"Steve wants us to start getting ready for your mom's big surprise." Ramona said, continuing her earlier statement

"Hold on. We're teaching Tommy important life skills." Jackson insisted

"We're teaching him how to blow his first bubble." Max smiled

"What? You can't give Tommy gum. He's way too young." Ramona gasped

"You guys really couldn't have picked a better flavor?" I repeated before noticing Ramona's sour expression, "I mean...bad. Tommy can't have gum."

"It's not like we're teaching him how to smoke." Jackson argued, "On the news, I saw a toddler in Thailand who smokes three packs a day and has his own militia."

"I find that hard to believe. I mean, the fact that you actually have watch the news." Max joked

"You really do keep getting better at this." I laughed, patting the boy on the head

"Yes, Max, we all know you have Lester Holt bedsheets." Ramona sighed

Max smirked, lifting up his pillow with a picture of a man, "I have the whole Meet the Press collection."

"You are all nuts. But, Tommy, I need you to spit out the gum." Ramona begged the small toddler

Tommy harshly blew, and a wad of gum made its way into Max's hair.

The three of us shared a horrified expression, and I lifted the toddler in my arms, hoping to save him from death when Max realized his hair was ruined.

"What are you guys looking at?" Max asked, turning to face us

"Nothing." Ramona lied

"Nothing? Can't you see that big wad of gum in his hair?" Jackson asked

"Jackson, you idiot. Run for it, Tommy." I scolded, before running after the sprinting toddler

____________

The three of us decided it was a good idea to put Max's hair in ice, attempting to remove the mistake.

I'd already saved Tommy from Max's wrath, but I don't know if anything could fix the poor boy's hair

"Okay, that's five minutes. The gum should be frozen by now." Ramona announced

Max slowly removed his head from the big bowl of ice, "My skull is numb. This must be how you feel all the time."

Jackson glared at him, "You're right. He does make it hard to want to help him."

"Let's see." Ramona said, before grabbing at the gum, which didn't budge

"Okay, this is not working. What else you got?" Max asked

"Cut it." I shrugged, earning a horrified expression from Max

"Are you insane? Ruin this master piece? What if I told you to cut your hair." He argued

"I'd cut Jackson's." I smirked

"That makes no sense." Jackson argued

"I know. I just think you'd look funny bald." I smiled to myself

"I read somewhere that you can cover the gum with peanut butter." Ramona suggested

"This says use baking soda" Jackson added

We quickly tried both methods...which both resulted horribly. The gum was still in his hair, as well as anything else we'd used to try and get it out

"Neither of the worked, not even at the same time." Ramona sighed

"Do any of you have access to a porcupine carcass?" Jackson asked, pointing to his phone

"No, you are not putting roadkill it my hair." Max snapped

"It kinda looks like we already did." I said, looking at the mess in the side of his head

Steve walked in, interrupting our situation, "Okay, we gotta get ready for your mom's birthday surprise. What?"

Steve eyes widened at the sight of Max's hair, and we all sighed in defeat.

___________

Steve finally solved our problem by using Max's costume, for DJ's surprise, to cover his hair.

The five of us, plus Cosmo, lined up behind a curtain waiting for our cue from Steve.

"I present you...Your Kids on the Block!" Steve yelled

The curtain dropped, revealing our group decked out in tacky 90's outfits, ready to perform our routine

The song started, and we all began to dance...even if it didn't look all too great.

We finished, leaving the women to talk amping at themselves, while I attempted to catch my breath

"That was literally a minute long dance. What in the world is wrong with me." I gasped

"Cause the only exercise you do is teaching Tommy to run from his problems." Jackson joked

"Excuse you. I'm preparing that boy for the real world. He's gotta be able to beat you AND out run you when I can't." I argued, picking up the small boy

"You already can't outrun me." He continued to disagree

"No. But I have minions who can." I smiled, shaking the small boy, making him laugh, "Plus Cosmo."

"And me." Max added

"Yeah. Who do you think he gets all his roasts from? The master." I smirked, high-fiving Max

____________

YES. I've been gone forever. I know. I'll be completely honest, I had no motivation to keep writing. BUT this story has taken me years and I'm really excited to finish it. Also very excited for the future chapter a the end.

IMPORTANT. Who do you guys think should play the grown up versions of the cast? Really need suggestions
