Chapter 17

Emilie's POV

Once again, I had to show up to that small shop and try the spell.

It's so stupid that I couldn't have done the spell earlier, but better late than never, I guess. I just hope it works. Owen is MINE, ONLY MINE. His skank of a mate (wherever, and whoever she is) can't have him. Fate is wrong. We are meant for each other. There is no argument about it.

Chloe. was being a weirdo and decided to bail on going to get the spell done for Henry. I guess she's not sure if she really loves him or not. Maybe she really wants to find her mate. Ugh, we'be grown so apart...

At the shop, I waited a couple minutes until that Georgina lady showed up. She was wearing some sort of pink gypsey dress that was horrible. thankfully, this time she was wearing sandals instead of those chunky boots from last time. he hair was pulled tightly into a bun. All in all, she looked like a freak. "Hello, darling," She said with that weird accent.

"Hey. Let's get this spell over with, shall we?" I said impatiently. I walked ahead of her to the same room we were in last time. Once she sat down, I took out the only hard copy of Owen's photo that I had. I slid it over the table to her. "That's Owen," I said.

"My, my. Quite a... how you say? Hotie? He looks like a charmer." She smiled. "Tell me about him."

"Well, where do I start?" I crossed my legs. "He and I went out for almost two years. Yep, a really long time. One day he just...dumped me. I was devastated. He and I were supposed to be together, like, forever y'know?"

"Okay. Tell me, what he's like?"

"Oh, him? He's, um, six feet and two inches tall. Tall. He's ripped. Crazy muscles. Tan skin and green eyes that will burn into your soul. He's the nicest person I've ever met. He cares. He listens. He's mine," I answered deviously.

"He sounds sweet. He could attract anyone," She said.

My temper flared. "Exactly why we need to do this spell! Now get this over with! Please."

"Okay. Has he been with anyone else since your relationship ended?"

"Nope. His Friends are my friends, too," I said after she gave me a look for answering so confidently. I neglected to tell her that he kissed Girl of Death, but she doesn't count. He probably felt bad for her, that's why he kissed her. She definitely will never kiss anyone anywhere near his hotness again. Ew, I can't believe he kissed her though. Maybe he was drunk. I know she was drunk. Ugh, little slut.

"I'm going to have you sign a waiver. It's to deal with all the terms and conditions. If you're under eighteen, then you have to have your parents sign it, too. Are you eighteen?"

"Yeah, yeah," I lied easily. I pulled out a fake I.D.

"Great. Now sign here... here... and here." She pointed. Then once that was over with, she brought out a big book from the bookshelf behind her. "I'm going to do a magic spell called, 'Enchanted'. Enchanted spells are done when someone really loves another person, but the person they love doesn't know. I have to warn you, the Enchanted spell must only be used for the purpose of love. Jealousy can only cause problems. This spell will not make the other person that you love, stop loving him. If he loves her back, then he will have to decide between the two of you. Almost always, the spell only works when there is no third party involved... You're sure there's nobody else?"

"No."

"Great. Let us begin..."

My heart pounded in my chest with the knowledge that Owen would kiss me once again. "Okay. Let's do this."

Owen's POV

Fight.

"I want you all to know your enemy's limits. How trained is he? Never let them know how trained you are. Make yourself look weak. Then pound! Chris care to come and show the group how to switch from defense mode to offense mode?" Dad was the trainer for today's Target Practice class. The name of the class is self explanatory. We train to meet the target excel made for us. I, obviously, would have to train harder to be as good at fighting as planned. Great.

"Sure," Chris said casually. He walked up to the front with my dad. They got into their fighting positions. Chris waited for a couple seconds, with his arms in defending position, then he threw himself out of nowhere at my dad. My dad could easily catch him with his Alpha speed, but for the sake of the class, he let himself get tackled. Chris has dad pinned to the ground. "Violá," Chris said.

After class was dismissed, I went up to my room. Halfway there, I noticed a lot of giggling coming from the living room. "What's going on here?" I asked. I thought it was a bunch of girls, but it was Chloe, Emilie, Asia, and Hannah. "Oh, sorry. i thought you were someone else..."

"It's okay," Emilie said. I couldn't help but notice her really short shorts. And her chest is barely covered with that tank top. "Sorry to bother you, Owy."

Owy was Emilie's nickname for me.

"Umm...." My eyes could not leave her chest. "That's okay...." She's so fucking hot--- wait, what? No, Ivy. She's my mate!

"Did you need something else, Owy?" Emilie asked. I vaguely felt myself shaking my head. "Hey, you look really good in those jeans. Are they new?"

I looked down at myself. They're old jeans. "You think I look good?"

"Of course. You always look good," She said with a wink. My heart fluttered. Shit, why am I feeling this way? What is happening to me? "You, okay?"

"Yeah, sure," I answered. Everyone was looking at me with a weird expression. Are they- do they feel the tension, too? Is this just me?

"Do you want to talk? Your room?" She asked. I nodded almost too eagerly. I had to turn away from the girls while we walked. I had a growing problem.... if you know what I mean. As we walked into the room, Emilie grabbed my arm. I shivered from her touch and smiled. This is how I fell in love with her.

We walked to my bed where she layed down. "Owen, you know that I still like you, right?" She asked.

"You do?"

"Of course. Owen, I still love you. I don't even know why we broke up. Do you remember why we broke up?" She motioned for me to sit beside her. My feet moved before my brain could process what was happening. She had me in a trance. "Owen, do you remember?"

"I-I do. You were being mean to Ivy... You were being mean to her! Don't act so innocent," I said angrily. She looked panicked for a moment before masking her emotions.

"But you like me, Owen. I'm right here...." She smiled.

"Yes, you are here," I said. and barely covered, at that.

"So..." She sat up and hugged me out of nowhere. I missed her hugs, I decided. "I miss you, Owen. Stay with me for a while. Please?"

I looked at her body then her eyes. She looked so sad and lonely that I couldn't help but want to be here for her. "Fine."

Ivy's POV

"Maybe we could go to the park tomorrow," Mallory said. he was finally being released from the hospital this afternoon and I was so excited. He won't be able to do much, but at least we can to the park. "Too bad I have go to the rehabilitation center once a week."

"Yeah," I said. "Let's go the park tomorrow." I watched him fiddle with his cast. "See you tomorrow then," I said. I got up and kissed his cheek lightly. Ever since the whole drama with Owen, I've been feeling more and more tired. It's weird because I can't seem to go to sleep without him invading my thoughts, and then I can never get him to leave my thoughts. I spend hours just thinking about him. It's crazy, really.

That night was no different than the rest, I was lying restlessly on my bed thinking about how Owen's lips tasted on mine. I should have savored the moment. I should have mentally saved it in my mind as Favorite, or something. That moment in his room when he kissed must have been the greatest moment in my life, single-handedly.

Now, I'm alone (sorta). This sucks. Why can't I just be normal? Why can't I----- What? What am I feeling. Ugh. Pain. Chest pains! The acid was being poured onto my chest. I gasped trying to get oxygen into my lungs that were being squeezed shut. I tried to walk to my door, but my legs were blocks cemented into the ground. I screamed until I couldn't breathe anymore. That's when my vision started going black. I blinked rapidly, but it only confused me from the dark and the light. The acid cool for a second before burning hotter and hotter by the second. Soon, it all stopped. All that was left of me was a pained heart and ragged breaths.

"Ivy? Ivy!" A male voice filled my ears, bringing me back to reality. "Why are you lying on the ground like that?"

"Josh?" I asked before I opened my eyes. I saw him standing at my doorway with his arms crossed over his chest. It's light. Didn't I just go to sleep? "What time is it?"

"Eight o' clock. Why?" He said. I looked at the window and saw the light pouring inside. I squinted. What? I was lying in front of my bed with my head towards the door.

"No reason," I lied. "Did you hear anything weird last night?"

"No, Ivy are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I lied again. "You're sure you didn't hear anything?"

"Nope. Nothing. Did you?"

"Nope," I lied for the third time.

"Great. Mallory want to talk to you. He's downstairs," he said already walking away.

"Mallory? He's here? Right now? Really?" I raced downstairs and found Mallory in the living room. he was in a wheelchair. I hugged him. "Mallory! Why are you here so early?" He said that his mom had to go to work and she couldn't be late. "That's fine. I'm going to go change. See you in a bit."

~~~
At the park, we went around the trail a couple times, with Mallory begging me not to push him around because he didn't want me to get tired. I stopped listening to him after a while. "Ivy," He said when we went inside the park office to get water. "You look sick. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. I didn't get much sleep last night. I...I'm fine, really."
"Okay, sure..." He said uncomfortably. He was quiet before he spoke again. "You've been losing weight lately."
I blushed even though I knew it was true. I don't know why or how I began to lose so much but I know it's not healthy. I try eating all the time, but I get repulsed at the sight of food easily. Especially the sight of piles of food. Ew. "I am not," I lied. "These tight clothes make me look skinnier. Anyway, what do you want to do now?"
"I'm not sure....Hey, isn't your brother at the skate park, over by the bleachers? Let's go there. If I can't skate, then watching other people skate will be my consolation. You okay with that?"
"That's fine with me, Mallory," I said sweetly. I began wheeling him over to the skate park when a familiar person caught my attention. No, not him. Not now. Owen, why? I slowed my pace and took deep breaths. "How about we go somewhere else?" I asked. Mallory gave me a weird look, not understanding why I was flipping out. He followed my gaze to Owen's direction. He narrowed his eyes.
"No, let's go there. Let's prove to that jerk that you do love me," He said angrily.
"What? What are you talking about?" I couldn't help the panic in my voice.
"He told me a couple days ago, in the hospital when he visited,  that you didn't like me. Which is crazy, right? You told me minutes before he got there that you did. He doesn't know what he's talking about, does he? Ivy? Does he?" A nervous look spread over his face, making him look so innocent. It broke my heart.
"He has no idea what he's talking about," I said quietly. I looked over at Owen again and saw him cast a look my way? Did he see me? Oh my God, my hair is so messed up today! Calm down, Ivy. Look cool. I began walking again, and the closer I got, I began thinking more and more about Mallory said. Owen told him that I didn't love him? If he told him that, then who do I love? Nobody....Owen? Do I love Owen? Maybe. Do I love Mallory? I definitely love him.
As a friend.
Do I love him more than that? Yes, I do. Wait--- I love Owen? No, I can't. But still...
"Hey, Ivy!" A voice brought me back to reality. Matt was standing in front me with a big smile on his face. "Oh, Ivy, what... Damn, look at how skinny you've gotten. Oh man, ARE YOU TURNING ANOREXIC? Bulimic? Jesus, someone get her a jumbo bacon cheese burger with chilly cheese fries and a large soda. I'm paying. Seriously, someone go buy that food. Oh, and don't forget the ice cream sundae as a dessert. Geez, someone, please hurry. This girl is starving."
I turned away from everyone because they were all staring at me.  Not only was Matthew and Owen here, but also Josh and Rocky. Oh, and Mallory. Great. Why am I always surrounded by guys? "I'm not hungry, Matt," I said, quietly. I noted how Owen avoided my gaze.
"What? Of course you are. Anyone your size would be be starving right now," He said angrily. I guess he cares about me more than I thought. "Josh, are you not feeding her at home?"
Josh was surprised. "I didn't even notice. But now that I think about it, Ivy, you really are getting too small. I'll go get that food."
Once he left, all I was left with was the guys and their never-ending stares. I cleared my throat in an attempt to make things less awkward. "So.." I tried to start a conversation, but somehow my sentence stopped after my first word. I fumbled with my hands to try and make myself  less nervous in front of Owen. I could tell he was watching me in his peripheral vision. I didn't like it.
"Promise me you'll eat more when Josh and I leave to college," Matt said as he took a seat next to me o the bleachers. I glanced at him briefly before nodding. I looked at Mallory and smiled at him. He didn't see me because he was glaring at Owen. I followed my smile with a pursed lips.
"Owen, you're wrong about you said in the hospital," Mallory said suddenly. I clamped my hands on my knees. I really don't want any problems. "Ivy, please tell him what he said is completely stupid."
I looked at Owen then Mallory, and Mallory and Owen. I swallowed audibly. Matt seemed really uncomfortable, being in a situation he couldn't really understand. "Um..." Owen shot a defiant look. He thought he was right, apparently. "Um..." Mallory looked at me with a hurt look because of how long I was taking to answer. "Of course I love Mallory."
Once Josh came back with the food, I had to agree, I was starving. Fortunately, Josh had the good sense of getting everyone else food, too. I was so hungry, I didn't wait for everyone else to start. I went right for the burger. I munched on it happily and noticed Owen staring at me with an amused look. I felt the mixture of excitement and annoyance. I was eating my dessert, when a familiar voice screeched Owen's name. My blood ran cold once I knew who it was. Emilie. No, why right now?!?
"Owen, baby, why are you wasting your time here? Come spend some quality time with me!" She whined. I looked away from Owen in sadness when she kissed him. So, he really had been playing with my heart when he told me he liked me. He went straight back to her. I clutched my heart in pain, similar to the pain I felt last night. similar, but this pain was more intense. I groaned loudly, drawing Emilie's attention on me. "Ugh, Girl of Death? What are you doing here? Stay away from my man... Oh, and you're eating that super fattening ice cream? Fattie."
I looked at her briefly then at Owen who was giving me an apologetic look.
Apologetic? Ha, what are you thinking? That look isn't apologetic, my wolf said darkly, but I could sense the hurt.
I swallowed the last of the ice cream that was in my mouth and took off in a md run, suddenly too aware of everyone's gaze. I've had too much.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Owen's POV

"Ivy!" I tried calling after her, but it was no use. She was too far away. "Damn it, Em, can't you be nice to her for a freaking second?"

"Yeah, Emilie, she's not fucking fat. She's a bag of bones. You're such a bitch," Matt said angrily.

Immediately I felt anger swell within me. Nobody has the right to talk to my mate like that. Nobody. "Don't talk to her like that!" I yelled.

"Don't tell me you're defending Emilie. She just fucking insulted the nicest person that has walked on this earth. Don't fucking tell what Emilie just did, was right," He bit out. I was surprised that Matt cared so much, but then I was surprised that I didn't care as much as him. She is my mate, after all.

I raced after Ivy, faster than I've ever run in human form. Emilie shouted behind me to let her go, she wasn't worth it, she said. I got angrier by the second. I finally found Ivy behind the building of bathrooms, sitting and crying. I stared at her for a second. My every being was cement ed to the ground with remorse weighing me down. She doesn't deserve this pain. Not my sweet little mate. "Go away," She cried once she saw me. I felt myself move closer to her and wrap my arms around her. "I said go away!"

She pushed me away from her. I stood up, not knowing what to do. what I did want to do is stay beside her and comfort her.

After a couple seconds passed, I saw Matt come up beside me and give me the coldest glare I've ever seen. "I thought you had more common sense, Owen. You had the chance to get with Ivy and you blew it. Now you're with Emilie and Ivy is left all alone... except for Mallory. C'mon, man, get your head out of your ass."

That night, I found myself sitting in my dad's office. The Council member were having a meeting about my little mate situation.

Two mates?

It's impossible...
