Four days went by. Florence and Clair rarely talked, and it drove Florence nearly insane. She managed to keep herself calm by sifting through his drafts. She wondered how Clair and Cathryn were holding up. Just fine she supposed with a frown. The days were dreary without his company, and just when she'd been excited about visitors. It rained for the majority of the days, forcing the occupants of the home indoors, all except for Jacob, who was tramping out in the puddles nearly each day. Cathryn watched him with a sheer fascination from her window.
Clair busied himself with writing. He'd sit down each day, and put pen to paper, his fountain pen swirling along the parchment. Florence mingled with his thoughts, often making him sit back and contemplate her. He felt drawn to her, but not like he had with Cathryn. Sighing, he brushed it off and continued writing.
Meals over the span of the four days didn't provide to be much more interesting either. She'd watch drearily as Cathryn stole glances at Clair from across the table. Of course the conversation at the table was lively, except she hadn't gotten to speak directly with Clair which was upsetting. Finally after four days of solitary confinement, she was oddly deprived of Clair's presence.
