Ricky loves Nini, it's a known fact. Well not to her, but to everyone else. And Ricky's finally ready to tell her.
He decides that the best way to tell her would be to take her to a nice restaurant for their one year anniversary, and tell her his true feelings.
It was 6pm when Ricky went to Nini's house to pick her up for their date. He was wearing a button up, nice dress pants and his black vans, because what other shoes would he wear.
Ricky walked up to the house and knocked on the door. When Nini answered the door Ricky was speechless. She was wearing a black romper with lace sleeves, and black heels.
"You look absolutely stunning" he said "how did I get so lucky." Nini blushed and said, "I'm the lucky one" and leaned in for a kiss.
They then got into Ricky's car and drove to the restaurant. As he drove Ricky was thinking about his plan about how he's going to tell her. But what Ricky didn't know was that Nini had some news to tell him as well.
When they got to the restaurant, Ricky told the host his name for his reservation and he led them to their table.
They ordered their drinks and their food, and waited for it to arrive. "I have something to tell you later," Ricky said out of the blue. "Me too," Nini said.
Their food got there soon after, and they enjoyed the rest of their dinner together while eating and talking.
When they got back to Nini's house, Nini pulled him onto the porch swing in front of her house so she could talk to him.
"I have to tell you something," Nini said with a very serious face. "Mama D got a promotion" "That's great" Ricky said. "Not as great as you think. She's also getting transferred to the Iowa branch" she said breaking her eye contact with him and looking at her lap. "Oh" Ricky said, his shock showing on his face. Tears almost appearing in his eyes, and Ricky never cries, so you know that what Nini said hit him hard.
"So what are we gonna do," Ricky asked. "Are you gonna break up with me" Nini asked, still not looking at him. "No, no, no," Ricky said, turning her head, "I'm not breaking up with you, I lo- really care about you" he said, pulling her into his arms.
"Didn't you have something to tell me" she asked, cuddling into his chest. "I'll tell you later," he said, hugging her closer.
They ignored that night for the next two weeks. They pretended Nini wasn't leaving, and just continued how they usually were, while also trying to spend every second of every day together.
Ricky stood outside her house on the day she was leaving. "You can't go, I love you so much, I can't live without you, please just stay here, or bring me with you. I need you" he said hugging her and crying. Yes, Ricky Bowen was crying. "You know I can't do that," she said, crying as well.
"I know but I thought I should ask" he said, hugging her titter, not wanting to let go. "Nini, time to go," Mama C shouted.
"I'll miss you" Ricky said, pulling back but interlacing their hands. "I'll miss you more," she said, squeezing his hand. "Facetime me when you get to your new house" he said, wiping away her tears. "I will, and everyday after day after" she said, giving him one more hug, before she walked to the car.
She waved to him as her car drove away.
A month after Nini moved she received a package in the mail. It was from Ricky. When she opened it up she found two items, a handwritten note and ring.
Nini smiled as she read the note, and then turned her attention to the ring. Her smile got wider when she looked at it. She slid the ring onto her ring finger and then just stared at it for awhile, admiring its beauty. This boy really did love her, and loved him.
