Chapter 2

A week had passed and I can truthfully say that we have fully resumed the whole stress of school completely.

On the good side, football practice has started for the VC's cup so..yay.

After class, I headed to sports complex and watched a friendly match between my faculty and Engineering. I arrived at the bleachers just when the final whistle rang. Imagine my frustration. Like I speed walked down here for nothing. I sat down for a while when I saw I was sweating and I had enough time to go back home.

Five minutes later, I decided to leave when I felt how weird it is to just sit alone.  My phone rang as I walked and I fished it out and found Daniel's name on the screen. An automatic smile lit my face. I haven't talked to him since I last called him.

"Hello. Daniel. Oomph" Internally face palming, I realized that I had crashed into someone yet again. Looking up, I saw the same handsome stranger from last week.

WHAT THE 'ELL?

"Hey,Tara, just stay where you are." I heard Daniel say on the phone and hang up.

"It's you again." I said in realization.

He chuckled. "You seem to like running into me."

My eyes widened. "Whaaaattt, nooo. I just, I was just..."

"Relax, I saw you and wanted to talk to you"

"Oh."

"That day Omotara, I meant to collect -" I felt a tap on my shoulder and saw Daniel.

"Danieeeeeellllll!!!!!" I launched into a hug. "No wonder you called me" Then I smelt him and quickly released myself from the hug and giving him a punch on his shoulder. "God Daniel, why did you let me hug you? You stink."

"And let you pass up my awesomeness, maybe next time." I rolled my eyes at that. "What's up Ayo, you know her?"

"Yeah, we just met." He smiled but it didn't quite reach his eyes.

It was then I realized that they were both wearing the same jersey. "You guys know each other." I said. It was more of a statement.

"Yeah, we're course mates."

Oh, small world.

I saw Daniel Looking behind me and he finally turned to face me.

"Ayo, the coach is calling us. Tara, wait for me o. I'll soon be done."

Ayo sent me a smile as they both walked back into the locker room.

Shrugging, I found a platform to sit and got out my phone to do anything productive.

By productive, I mean word cookie. It was quite a while that I sat here. I was frustrated and I looked at the sky. I hate being stuck on a level and having to use my coins.

"Omotara" Someone said and tapped my shoulder. It was Ayo.

"Hey, where's Daniel?" I said looking behind him.

"He's still doing something."

"Hmm, okay."

"I need to go home now but I was wondering if we could talk another time. Can I get your number?" He had on a nervous smile and scratched the back of his head.

I beamed. "Sure".

Seems he already had his phone out and I frowned at that. I called my number out anyway. He saved it and quickly flashed me. "You can call me if you want. See you again. Tara." He waved and started walking away just when Daniel came out.

"You have joined bad gang." He said, stretching out his hands to help me stand up.

"What? me? No o. what did I do?"

"see you again.... Tara" He mimicked with a weird look on his face.

I shook my head at him. "That was your friend."

"Please. We aren't friends. We move in two different circles but we happen to be course mates in the same football team."

"Why? He seems nice."

He ran his hands across his face in a frustrated manner. "We just aren't friends. I was only civil with him because of you and because there is no tangible reason for me to be uncivil."

I nodded deciding to drop it. We had already reached the gate of sports complex.

"So, when did you resume?" I asked.

"On Saturday"

I was baffled. "You're already playing football? I have a feeling you even resumed so you could play this match. What is wrong with you? You want me to tell your mom?" I asked with a fake confident look trying to seem like I'm really going to do it.

He rolled his eyes. "You want me to tell your mom you are giving your number to every random guy that asks?"

Touché

"I only give them so I don't seem like a bitch and I block them right after."

"That's cruel though. Are you gonna block Ayo's number?"

"No. he's nice" And handsome.

"Bleh, how did you even meet that guy?"

I put two of my fingers up to his face in doctorly manner.

"I'm sensing a lot of inner hate with this guy."

He laughed. "Please, I don't hate him. He's just not my friend."

I shrugged. We had finally gotten to the main gate and he helped me cross that stupid wide road.

"Till later Tara." He said waving and I waved back.

"You sound just like him." I said as I entered the bus heading to my area. He made a barf face and finally turned to leave. I still had a smile on my face until the conductor stretched out his hand towards me for money.

My place is a 15 minute walk from school but I just really hate walking home alone so I take a bus on most days.

I quickly stopped to buy bolley at the bus stop. My roommate was home as I saw the door opened but I was not prepared for what I walked into.

"Oh my baby eyeballs!! I'm too young for this"

"Tara!! You're too dramatic" She said standing up from her boyfriend's lap.

True, they were just kissing.

What's his name again? Raphael..not much of an Angel if you ask me.

He groaned. "You're still here?"

"Of course I'm still here. We rented this place together"

"Tara. Please, can you guys not start this? Please, not today and not this semester." I glared at him and sighed in defeat. I don't just dislike him or anything, I absolutely hate him.

Okay, hate is a strong word..

It's just we are course mates and we didn't start off on the right foot or something or he was being his normal obnoxious self. He was loud in class. He moved with a bunch of other tall intimidating boys with the marlian kind of look.

At first when everyone was still new and dandy, we talked but when he came too close, there were just playful insults that seem to come far too often than not. For example..

'Wetin be this wey you dey wear? Under this hot weather? hoodie' Then he laughs and his other friends laugh too. It's not my fault. It was really cold that morning. After a while, I started throwing insults of my own and it became a real feud and we just became this two people that groaned whenever we sighted each other.

Imagine his and my shock when we realized that we would be connected in more ways than just in class.

I sighed and just dropped my bag, took out my phone, headphone, my precious bolley, a cold Pepsi from the mini fridge and I went out to the balcony.

What a day.
