Our tale begins in the ancient forest, where the world has called on heroes to come to their aid, against the mad Oogie Boogie. They were the vampires (Sora, Kairi, Roxas), the mummy (Donald), the Frankenstein (Goofy), the werewolf (Riku), the doll (Xion), the witches (Naminé, Yang), the duchess (Blake), the angel (Weiss), the grimlin (Mickey), the summoner (Aqua), the whisp (Ventus), the demons (Arcturus, Ruby, Axel) and Dr. Darkenstein (Terra)
Only seventeen they were to defend the world. But, Oogie's minions rose when they sensed their presence. All their nightmares would become reality! For tonight was the night, of Oogie's Revenge.
The team found themselves in the woods and took a look at their appearance.
Sora: yes! I've missed being in this world!
Arcturus: (looks at his face) another world change. I love this!
Ruby: this is so cool! If I knew this was here, I would've celebrated my birthday here!
Arcturus: thanks for saying that. That gives me an idea for you.
Kairi: I've been wanting to come here since you guys told us about it.
Weiss: wait. If we look like this, what do the people look like?
Donald: you'll be in for a surprise.
Roxas: I'm just excited that we have cool looks. We didn't get these from the missions back in the Organization.
Axel: yeah! If I knew this happened, I would've asked for more missions.
Terra: (notices the doors) hey, what are those doors?
Sora: oh! Those are the holiday doors! They lead to cool worlds based on- (looks at the doors) something's wrong.
They look at the doors and to the vampire's surprise, they were different. They were blue with Oogie's shadow on them. The demon's gauntlet switches to his android scanning mode and process the information.
Arcturus: that's odd. There a special isomorphic magic from this.
Sora: iso what?
Terra: isomorphic. It's a term for certain items only working for certain people.
Arcturus: it's the same magic that Cronos uses in his Keyblades and gear so no one but him can use them and his powers, and why all of ours work for us. The question is, who's the only one who can use these doors?
Sora: (gestures the shadow) take a guess.
Donald: Oogie Boogie!
Goofy: but we stopped him again.
Riku: at this point, nothing stays down.
Kairi: so, what should we do?
Sora: there's a town not too far from here. Let's head over there and see if Jack knows about this.
Nodding in agreement, the group made their way out of the forest. As they walked, they noticed how the town was very Halloween themed, especially with the tombstones and the spiral hill. Soon, they arrived to the entrance to the town, where they found a scarecrow that said 'Welcome to Halloween Town.'
They entered the town where they see Heartless attacking. They also see a very tall skeleton in a suit, with a green slimy object on his right bony hand. It was Jack Skellington.
Sora: Jack!
Jack: (sees them) hello, Sora, Donald, and Goofy! Would you mind helping me defeat these villainous fiends?
Sora: (summons Keyblade) you got it!
They all get their weapons out and attacked the Heartless. They see that Jack's new weapon functioned like a whip before turning into a mace that crushed the enemies. After a few moments of fighting, they see something emerge; a door in the shape of a jack-o-lantern.
Jack: the Halloween door. But what's it doing here?
Sora: that's actually what we wanted to ask you, Jack. Someone messed with the holiday doors.
Jack: (eye sockets widen) what!? All of them?
Arcturus: someone stole the real ones, and replaced them with magical ones on one person can use.
Donald: we think it's Oogie.
???: right on that, maggots!
Everyone turns to the voice and they see Oogie Boogie's shadow appearing.
Oogie: well, well, well, if it isn't the old king, and his sidekicks.
Arcturus: I am no man's sidekick!
Jack: (glares) Oogie! What have you done?
Sora: and how did a bag of bugs like you get back?
Oogie: while you were off exploring, my Boogie Boys stitched me back, and thanks to the Heartless, I'm better than ever! And when my work's done, I'm taking over all the holidays, as the Seven Holidays King! And as desert, I get to get rid of Maleficent's annoying flies!
He laughs maniacally and soon the shadow fades away.
Riku: still a creep as always.
Jack: indeed- (looks at the group) oh! Forgive me, but I don't believe I got all your names?
Arcturus: I'm Arcturus. Arc for short.
Kairi: I'm Kairi.
Riku: Riku.
Roxas: Roxas.
Naminé: Naminé.
Xion: Xion.
Axel: name's Axel. Got it memorized?
Aqua: I'm Aqua.
Terra: Terra.
Ventus: I'm Ventus. Call me Ven.
Ruby: my name's Ruby.
Weiss: I'm Weiss.
Blake: Blake.
Yang: I'm Yang.
Mickey: and I'm Mickey.
Jack: a pleasure to meet you all. I'm Jack. Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King!
Ruby: Halloween has a ruler? That's awesome!
Arcturus: that is pretty cool.
Goofy: say Jack, what's going on?
Donald: how did Oogie get back?
Sora: and why is the town abandoned?
Jack: (sighs) I owe you all an explanation. You see, I haven't been back in town lately. After last Halloween, I wanted to try something new, and come up with something different for Halloween. So, I left town to get inspiration. But after I left, Lock, Shock, and Barrel sewed Oogie back together because they were board, and he tricked the town into making a dangerous Halloween.
Roxas: (grumbles) no good comes from those nitwits.
Jack: agreed. Anyways, I just came back today, and found the whole town filled with Heartless and booby traps. And with everything too dangerous, all the town citizens are in their homes for safety. But, Sally, Dr. Finklestein, and the Mayor are missing.
Sora: well, now that we're here, we can help get rid of those Heartless!
Mickey: yeah. If we work together, we can stop Oogie, and save the town.
Jack: (smiles) thank you, my friends. Still, though, we need to find the rest of the holiday doors. Oogie must've given them to specific places to keep us at bay.
Arcturus: hey Clara, can you find a way to isolate the signature of the doors?
Clara: I think so. If you allow me to scan the door, I should be able to find the other six.
Arc scans it briefly, and Clara was able to identify the magic. With the new info, they had split the team into three groups of six. Jack, Sora, Arcturus, Riku, Kairi, and Ruby were one, Donald, Mickey, Yang, Blake, Axel, and Aqua were in another, and Goofy, Roxas, Xion, Naminé, Weiss, and Ventus were the last.
Currently, the king had taken the vampires, the werewolf, and the demons down to the cemetery. The signal on two of the doors was nearby.
Jack: we should hurry. If Oogie wants revenge, he might even try going after Sandy Claws?
Sora: it's pronounced "Santa Claus," Jack.
Arc, Kairi, and Ruby: Santa Claus!?
Riku: yeah, I'm still not believing the fact that you met him.
Sora: just wait till we see him.
Ruby: (bright smile) we're gonna see Santa!? This is the best day ever!
Arcturus: I've always wanted to meet him! You can't tell cause of the mask, but I'm excited too!
Riku: guys, stop encouraging this.
Kairi: c'mon, Riku. We've seen people with magic, people coming back to life, time travel, hell, Arc even turned into a giant dragon. Why is Santa being real hard to believe?
Riku: because that was just a classic children's belief. I grew out of that when I was a kid. Do you guys really believe that someone rides a sleigh at night once a year to deliver presents?
All three: yes!
Sora: trust me, Riku. This'll be one of the best things ever!
Riku: I'll believe it when I see it.
Jack: come, now. We haven't have much time.
*TERRA*
With Dr. Darkenstein and his allies, they went to the pumpkin patch were Lock was leading Heartless to attack the Mayor.
Mayor: (nervous) now see here! By order of the mayor, I demand you stop this, and leave Halloween Town! (They don't listen) Jack! Please hurry back soon! I'm only an elective official, I can't handle this by myself!
Donald: (armed with staff) we'll handle this!
Lock: oh good! More people to hurt. Now things will get really fun!
Mickey: (summons Keyblade) get to safety, mayor. We'll handle this.
He leaves and Lock summons a big heartless boss, the Wavern, before running off. The mummy, grimlin, dutchess, demon, witch, summoner, and Darkenstein fought back against the monster, and soon defeated them. After that, they then received the 4th of July door. The mayor soon came back, and informed them that Oogie's captured the holiday leaders, and is holding them underneath the town. With their next mission, Darkenstein and his team hurried off to rescue them. Unaware of the dangers that await them.
*WEISS*
In Finklestein's tower, the vampire, Frankenstein, doll, witch, angel, and whisp were making their way up to the top of the tower. When they arrive to the top, they see Shock standing next to the doctor. They then notice a scarecrow like monster there.
Shock: you're not ruining our fun! Deal with this, doc!
They then see that his brain was swapped with a green one with red eyes. Shock escapes with the monster as a machine comes to life and the team fought it. After some fighting, they stopped the machine, and swapped his real brain back and destroyed the parasite. They also acquired the St. Patrick's Day door.
Weiss: (cringed) ew, that's gross!
Goofy: that's actually normal for him, Weiss.
Xion: no, that's gross.
Dr. Finkelstein: Goofy? What's going on?
Goofy: you were under mind control. But we freed you.
Dr. Finkelstein: no I remember. Those three insignificant miscreants! First the ruin my experiments, and now they've put the town in danger!
Roxas: leave them to us. Help the others by destabilizing any of the traps left.
Dr. Finkelstein: I will. But you have to hurry and find the Christmas door. Without it and the others, the holiday leaders can't return to their worlds.
Xion: we will. Out of curiosity, though, what was the scarecrow?
Dr. Finkelstein: an experiment Oogie Boogie tricked me into making. The scarecrow is an monster that was designed to release a special gas from it. This gas is a fear toxin that when exposed, it'll trigger hallucinations that will bring to life your deepest and darkest fears. To make it more realistic, the toxin also tampers with the body, and make it believe any attacks you feel are real.
Weiss: why would you make that!?
Dr. Finkelstein: as I said, I was tricked.
Ventus: when Jack said a dangerous Halloween, he was not joking.
Dr. Finkelstein: Jack's back?
Naminé: yep. We're working with him to find the doors and stop Oogie.
Dr. Finkelstein: then good luck.
*SORA*
The king, vampires, werewolf, and demons were racing through a maze created by Barrel. Thanks to the demon's speed, they charged through and arrived to the graveyard.
Sora: at least you live up to the name "speed demon."
Arcturus: that's probably why I look like this.
Barrel: you weren't supposed to get out!
Kairi: we're full of surprises. How about making it easier by giving us the door and we'll be on our way.
Barrel: how about I blow you guys up?
Ruby: (pulls out scythe) figured you'd say that.
Jack: prepare to scream!
They fought Barrel as he used Heartless to help fight. He also called down this giant spider to attack them, but they held their ground and fought them. Jack also showed them new tricks like changing his outfit. He had his Sandy Claws suit that increased his ice magic more and was able to throw snowballs. His second form was the Pumpkin King, where his fire was stronger and he had dark red and orange colored rags, and a jack o lantern for a head.
They fought for a while until they beat Barrel and the spider. Barrel retreated and the spider disintegrated, revealing the Valentines Day door. They also see Sally tied in a web. They freed her, and she immediately embraces Jack.
Sally: Jack!
Jack: Sally!
Sally: I knew you'd come back. (Looks to Sora) and thank you for return too, Sora.
Sora: you bet. Sally, do you know where the Christmas door is?
Sally: I'm not sure. I know Oogie gave it to two powerful Heartless. But you have to hurry. Oogie's in Christmas Town, and he plans to take over Christmas tomorrow.
Riku: we'll stop him.
Ruby: let's get that door, then. The sooner we do, the sooner we stop Oogie, and meet Santa!
*DONALD*
Darkenstein and his team arrived at the town hall where the leaders were trapped. They also received a message from their allies that they reclaimed two other doors, which meant there were only three more to claim.
Axel: all we have to do is just free the leaders?
Aqua: that's the idea. But we still need the other doors.
Blake: so what's Oogie have in store for us?
Her question was answered in the form of the shadow Oogie returning. They fought the shadow and the extra Heartless that spawned as well. After a few moments, the shadow was destroyed and they soon got the Thanksgiving door.
Yang: another one down.
Terra: let's rescue the leaders then meet up with the others.
Mickey: right!
Donald: hopefully, those little pranksters don't come back.
*GOOFY*
The team went to the sewer system, where they found the scarecrow down there. They were fighting him as best they could, but then some of them got hit with the fear gas, and they were experiencing their worst fears; Ventus becoming like Vanitas, Goofy loosing his son, Naminé being trapped and alone in the castle, Roxas having no connection to his humanity for his friends, Xion killing Roxas, Axel, and Riku dying to save her, and Weiss failing her teammates and the world suffering from her father.
But as Weiss was experiencing her fear, she suddenly remembers a certain training day she had with her instructors and Winter. When she was about eleven, she was practicing her combat that focused on her sight. She had trouble with this particular experience.
Young Weiss: (removes blindfold) this is pointless! Why put me in this task if I have no chance of winning?!
Winter: that is the point. There will come a time when you will loose one of your senses, or worse, when your enemies will trick your mind. If you seek to win the battle, you must learn to use your other senses to prevail.
The flashback ends, and Weiss then grabs a piece of cloth and wraps it around her eyes. She then blocks off everything and concentrates on her target. Her semblance then triggers, and she summons her Armored Gigas. The Knight then charges towards the scarecrow and with a few powerful strikes, the monster was destroyed, and the illusions broke.
Weiss: (removes blindfold) thank you, Winter.
Naminé: way to go, Weiss!
Goofy: hey look. It's the Easter door!
They then saw the door in the shape of a colorful egg floated down. They claimed the door, and contacted the others.
Xion: good news, guys, we got another door.
Clara: perfect! That puts us at six. Also, I'm pretty sure we have a lead on where the Christmas door is.
Ventus: really? Why's that?
*ARC*
The werewolf jumps past a large fireball. On their way to Spiral Hill, they were assaulted by two giant ice and fire heartless. They were similar to the ones the vampire fought in Agrabah, but they were more golem like. They launch projectiles that the others had to dodge their way around.
Xion: (hears the attacks) that sounds bad.
Clara: yeah, we're gonna have to call you back. In the meantime, meet up with the others and head to the forest to place the doors back.
She hangs up, and the demon resumes his race. The demons then combined their speed and created a storm of lighting and roses that helped contained them. The king then unleashed the soul robber as the vampires and werewolf combined a powerful thunder and water strike that help deal the attack. The battle lasted a few moments, but they prevailed, and from the monsters' corpses, the Christmas door floated down to them.
Jack: yes! We have all the holiday doors. Now, we need to hurry to Christmas Town.
Riku: but the path way though the cemetery's been destroyed. How are we getting through?
Jack: fear not. I've got just the thing. (Yells) Zero!
They hear barking, and they look to see a ghost dog with a small pumpkin for a nose.
Arcturus: you have a ghost dog?
Ruby: aww! He's so cute.
Kairi: yeah.
Sora: hey, Zero. How've you been, boy?
Zero: (barks)
Jack: Zero, we need your help. Can you help us find another path to the forest?
The dog then leads them to a broken part of the fence around the hill, and they pass through the area where Oogie's house was. As they walked, they arrived to the ancient forest where the rest of their allies were in the center of the woods. Once they meet up, the doors magically returned to their places and they restored to their original forms.
Ruby: they're all back! Now, we have to stop Oogie and save Santa.
Yang: wait, we're meeting Santa?
Arcturus: yeah, if we knew that all along, we would've come here sooner.
Sora: (excited) c'mon, let's go!
They open the door, and one by one, they hop down and fall through a light snow story and they arrive to the exit.
*CHRISTMAS TOWN*
On the other side, the heroes arrived on a snowy landscape. They've also gone through another change, and are now the Santas (Sora, Roxas), Mrs. Claus (Kairi, Ruby), the snowman/snow woman (Donald, Weiss), the reindeer (Goofy, Yang), the angels (Naminé, Xion, Aqua), the elves (Ventus, Axel, Mickey), the spirits (Terra, Blake), and the nutcrackers (Arcturus, Riku).
Arcturus: (looks at his form) I feel very formal in this. Like I'm ready to protect royalty.
Ruby: that's a good look for you.
Aqua: this world is full of surprises.
Sora: I know, right!?
They then heard screaming, and looked to see the town not too far with smoke coming up.
Jack: oh no! Sandy's in trouble. We have to hurry!
Agreeing, the team made their way to the town where they see the heartless attacking. Acting fast, they fought them and soon made their way through the town. Meanwhile, Oogie Boogie had gotten a hold of the sleigh and was planning to take it and ruin Christmas. Santa was tied up, but angry.
Santa: I'm warning you, Oogie Boogie! Release me at once and leave Christmas Town or-
Oogie: or what, old man? I'm taking over, and putting an end to all this "happy jolly" business. And this time, Jack and those stupid "heroes" won't stop me!
Sora: guess again, you bag of bugs!
Oogie: (turns and shocked to see them) you!? (Growls) how'd you get here!?
Terra: you're not very good at hiding the doors.
Roxas: not to mention, your henchmen aren't the smartest.
Riku soon looks to see sure enough, Santa Claus was there.
Riku: (eyes widen) he's real...?
Sora: (smug) see, I told you.
Kairi: don't be rude now, Sora.
Arcturus: nice! I wanna get a picture with him before we leave.
Ruby: ooo, we could make a Christmas card and everything!
Clara: that'd be quite the card.
Oogie: (angered) excuse me!? Quit ignoring me and blabbering about your meaningless lives!
Jack: (glares) this is your only warning, Oogie; surrender now and leave Christmas Town.
Oogie: not this time, old king. My plan's in the works, and I'm winning this time! If you'll excuse me, I'm heading out! Lock, Shock, Barrel! Get in here and deal with these maggots!
The annoying brats returned with Heartless and Oogie hops on the sleigh and takes off. The team fights the enemies for a bit, but soon prevails against them. They then free Santa.
Sora: are you okay, Santa?
Santa: I'm alright, Sora. But without that sleigh I can't deliver any presents. An entire year of preparations will be lost.
Mickey: we have to do something.
Ruby: (turns to Arc) can't you use Dragon King to get them around?
Arcturus: not without setting any of them on fire at super sonic speed.
Naminé: (notices something) look!
They then hear the sound of jingle bells, and look to see Sally riding Jack's only makeshift sleigh. Complete with his skeleton reindeer.
Jack: Sally!
Sally: Jack, we use this to catch Oogie.
Jack: good thinking, Sally. Now we can chase after him! C'mon, Sandy, Sora, Arc, let's go get him!
Arcturus: right!
Aqua: the rest of us will help repair the damage here and meet you back at Halloween Town.
With that, the four hopped on the sleigh and went after Oogie. The chase soon brought them into another part in between the holiday worlds that was like a junkyard, containing old garbage from each holiday. Once they were close enough, the demon (Arc and Sora are back in their Halloween costumes) changed into Emperor Form and shot Oogie of the sleigh and then he fires a grapnel to the sleigh and lands it.
Arcturus: I got it!
Clara: nice, Arc. And, you got to fly Santa's sleigh.
Arcturus: can cross that off my old bucket list.
The others catch up, and soon felt rumbling.
Sora: what's that!?
Santa: look!
They turn to see Oogie in the center of garbage, glowing in a dark aura as more bugs came and brought more rags. Oogie then grows into a giant version of him with holiday garbage merged with him, complete with a crown.
Oogie: you've stepped on my Boogie grove for the last time! I'm the seven holidays king!!!
Jack: you're king of nothing!
Sora: Santa, we'll deal with Oogie. You hurry and deliver those presents.
Santa: of course. Merry Christmas, Jack, Sora, and Arc.
Santa then gets back on his sleigh and heads off. The three then gather their items, and made their way down.
Arcturus: a king? All I see is a giant pile of garbage. It's no wonder your own holiday failed so terribly.
Oogie: you mock me!?
Sora: yep, he does.
Jack: let's do this!
(Cue Filthy Finale)
A/N: just add Arc and Sora as they dance and sing though this.
After using the limit, Oogie released his last roar as his bugs burned and his husk burned. The battle had won, and the two heroes received their new weapons.
Soul Smasher (Arc). Form change: slime whiplash (a whip with similar capabilities as Jack's Soul robber. Can grab enemies and when spinning fast enough, can create a shield)
Festive Nightmare (Sora). Form change: Santa's firearms (an arm cannon that fires ice so cold, it burns everything it touches)
Santa then came back and gives them a ride back to the town. The others see them and hurry and hugs them.
Kairi: you guys did it!
Ruby: (to Arc) you can dance and sing? Why didn't you tell me that? You're so good.
Arcturus: I never really had the time to show. I took a lot of classes back home.
Ruby: what about the presents?
Santa: don't worry, Ruby. All of them have been delivered in time.
Jack: (guiltily) I'm so sorry, Mr. Claws. Forgive me for causing you trouble again.
Santa: no Jack, this time I owe you my gratitude. Thank you for saving my life. (Looks at the others) and thank you all for saving Christmas. You're all on the nice list.
They cheered and just enjoyed the snowfall while they were conversating. Arc, Ruby, and a few others got a picture with Santa, and before leaving, Santa gave them all presents. Soon they were getting ready to head off to their next world, when Jack took Sora aside for a bit.
Jack: do you suppose your journey will ever end?
Sora: I'm not sure, anymore. I figured as long as the Keyblade is with me, I'll always have to keep fighting. But it's funny; every time I go to a new place, my eyes are opened up to a larger world.
Jack: me too, Sora. But, I think I've had enough of adventures for a while. Word of advice, don't be afraid to tell her how you feel.
Sora: huh?
Jack: (gestures to Kairi) you never know when something will happen to them. Arc has that special connection with Ruby, and the others seem to have that special someone, too.
Sora thinks about it for a bit, and smiles in thanks. With final goodbyes, they left off to the next world.
Author's note: I love this world.
If I had the power, I would gladly trade Frozen for this any day. I never played this game, but it definitely holds a lot of potential where Square could take it and adapt it to the KH universe.
Combat moment with Weiss. This was an original idea I had with Roxas temporarily loosing his sight and the others suffering their fears. But, I recently gave him a lot in Bendy, so I decided to give that part to someone else. Plus, Weiss needs more moments like this.
For reading the story, if you've ever played or seen Overwatch, this was done in the style of Junkenstien's Revenge (one of my only favorites). And hence why this chapter's so long.
The next few chapters will be long, too. Cause I wanna finish this story so I can focus on DVNT.
The blades are based off of Sora first Halloween Keyblades, but with some changes to match up with the mechanics of the game.
