They both entered the same doorway which led to a room that had a main hall vibe, there were two sets of stairs that led up and in the middle of both of them, was a bed of red flowers.
There was something shining in the middle of the flowers, it looked very important. They walked toward it until Toriel went up the stairs and left him with his curiosity about the shining object.
Y/n touched it and was blasted with a feeling that he had never felt before, it was a sensation that made him feel powerful. Then his SOUL flouted in front of him once more and displayed a message saying,
(*The shadow of the ruins looms above, filling you with Determination*)
Then it displayed something that looked like a Save screen. He pressed Save and it closed out and made his SOUL disappear. He then heard Toriel say,
Toriel: ¨My child? What is bothering you?¨
Y/n shook his head and with a smile, he said, ¨Oh, I was just admiring the beautiful red flowers.¨ She smiled and said,
Toriel: ¨Alright, but I need you to stay with me through the Ruins, it's a very dangerous place for a human.¨
Y/n agreed and followed her up the stairs and into the doorway that sat at the top of the stairs. Once they both entered the room, Toriel turned to face him and said,
Toriel: ¨Welcome to your new home, innocent one. Allow me to educate you in the operation of the Ruins.¨
Toriel then pressed down only four of the pressure plates and flipped a switch that was on the other side of the room, which then opened a part of the wall and allowed access to the next room.
Toriel looked towards Y/n and said,
Toriel: ¨The Ruins are full of puzzles. Please adjust yourself to the sight of them.¨
He nodded and followed Toriel to the next room, which was way longer than the previous one. Toriel pointed to the end of the room and said,
Toriel: ¨To make progress here, you will need to trigger several switches. Don't worry because I have labeled the ones that you will need to flip.¨
She then walked down the hall while Y/n followed and flipped all the necessary switches until the last switch was flipped which lowered spikes that were blocking the exit of the room.
Toriel smiled and said,
Toriel: ¨Splendid! I am proud of you, young one. Let us move to the next room.¨
After saying this, she turned around and went onto the next room with Y/n following right behind her. The next room had only a...test dummy standing on the other side of the room.
Toriel looked at him and said,
Toriel: ¨As a human living in the Underground, a monster may attack you. You will need to be prepared for this situation.¨
Y/n didn't really want to fight any monsters, he just wanted to go home. Then he thought to himself,
Y/n: ('What home? I don't have one. Maybe I should just live here, I mean Toriel is nice enough and is motherly to me, so maybe I can just stay here.')
Toriel: ¨But worry not, my child, the process is very simple. When you encounter a monster, you will enter a Fight. While you are in a Fight, try to strike up a friendly conversation and stall for time, I will come to resolve the conflict. Now go on practice talking to the dummy.¨
Y/n walked over to the dummy and the Fight began. His SOUL floated in front of him and displayed a message saying,
'You have encountered the Dummy'
Underneath of his SOUL were the options, 'Fight, Act, Item, and Mercy.'
He then picked 'Act' and the options, 'Check' and 'Talk' were shown. He then tried to talk to the Dummy, but it stayed completely silent. ...
Y/n: ('I guess it's not much for conversations. But, Toriel seems to be happy with me.')
*Toriel ended the Fight.*
Toriel: ¨Ah, very good! You are very good.¨
She then turned around and exited through the next doorway and left him behind again. Y/n looked away from the exit and looked toward the dummy again. He shook his head,
Y/n: ¨*Sigh* Man, what have I gotten myself into? I mean, I know that I have nothing but the orphanage on the surface to go to, and I Really don't want to go back there, but I don't know if it is a good idea to live in the underground that is full of monsters that want me dead for unknown reasons... hmm, what to do?¨
He then decided that it was time to go to the next room, so he turned away from the Dummy and entered the next room.
Once Toriel saw Y/n enter the room, she had a worried expression on her face,
Toriel: ¨Are you ok, my child? You were in that room for a while.¨
He then smiled at her and said,
Y/n: ¨Everythings fine, Toriel.¨
She continued to look worryingly at him for a few seconds until she smiled,
Toriel: ¨Well, there is another puzzle in this room... I wonder if you can solve this one?¨
Y/n then smiled at her and said,
Y/n: ¨Another puzzle? Don't worry, I 'Goat' this, Toriel.¨
She got caught off guard by the pun and laughed. After a few moments of her laughing at the pun, she regained her composure and said,
Toriel: ¨*Ahem*, sorry about that, my child. I just like hearing puns, in fact, I like to crack a few puns myself.¨
Y/n smiled knowing that his pun was funny. The only other person that thought his jokes were funny was one of the caretakers in the orphanage, Mrs. Johnson.
She always liked jokes, so whenever he saw her looking down, he would tell her a couple of jokes, and she would be happy for the rest of the day... Or at least that's what he wants to believe.
Toriel then began to walk toward the other puzzle, and Y/n followed her after snapping back to reality. The next puzzle was a large spike maze that led to the next room.
Toriel: ¨This is the puzzle, but... Here, take my hand for a moment.¨
Y/n then saw Toriel offering her hand to him to hold for navigating through the spike maze. He then held her hand.
Y/n: ¨Well, talk about getting to the 'point.'¨
He then saw Toriel trying her best to stifle a laugh as they walked through the spiked maze. Once they had finished walking through the maze, Toriel let go of his hand, and said,
Toriel: ¨The puzzles seem a little too dangerous for now.¨
Then they both went to the next room. It was a very long hallway that had vines coming down the walls, and further down the path, was a single large marble pillar that looked the most out of place. Then Toriel turned towards him.
Toriel: ¨You have done excellently thus far, my child. However... I have a difficult request to ask of you. I would like you to walk to the end of the room by yourself.¨
Y/n: ¨Wait, what?¨
Toriel: ¨Please, forgive me for this."
Exclaimed Toriel before she turned around, ran down the hall and hid behind the marble pillar at the end. He then thought to himself as he walked down the hall,
Y/n: ('What does she take me for? An Infant?! I mean, I did come from an orphanage, but she doesn't know that. But even so, she doesn't have to treat me like I'm an idiot. ... Well, maybe she thinks that she is just being nice... yeah, that has to be it. She's just being a very kind person to a kid that she had just met. Alright Toriel, I ́ll play along.')
Once he had finished that thought, he had reached the pillar at the end of the hallway, then Toriel came out from behind the pillar.
Toriel: ¨Greetings, my child. Do not worry, I did not leave you. I was merely behind this pillar the whole time.¨
Y/n looked at her with a straight face and said,
Y/n: ¨I know, I saw you hide behind it.¨
Toriel then dismissed his comment.
Toriel: ¨Any way, there was an important reason for this exercise. It was to test your independence. I must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while. But please remain here. It's dangerous to explore by yourself.¨
(*Something about that sentence reminded you of a game that you have played on the surface... But you don't recall the title*)
Toriel then thought for a moment and then said,
Toriel: ¨Ah, I have an idea, I will give you a Cell Phone. If you have a need for anything, just call.¨
Toriel then reached into the pocket of her dress that was almost invisible at first glance and produced a Cell Phone and gave it to him then said with a smile,
Toriel: ¨Be good, alright?¨
She then turned around and left him alone with his thoughts. Y/n stared blankly at the Cell Phone and only one question came to mind.
Y/n: ¨What kind of dress has pockets... or is it a robe? It doesn't matter.¨
He looked at the Cell Phone once more.
Y/n: ¨Hmm... I wonder if this even works, I mean she wouldn't just give me a phone that didn't work... right?¨
Y/n then turned it on and he pressed 'Contacts' and saw that only the name 'Toriel' was shown. He then decided to call her to say hello.
So he pressed her contact and his SOUL floated in front of him once again, and displayed an option screen with four choices to choose from, 'Say Hello', 'Ask about herself', 'Call her 'Mom', and 'Flirt with her'.
Y/n then pressed, 'Say Hello' and the Cell Phone began ringing. After the first ring, Toriel picked up.
Toriel: ¨This is Toriel.¨
Y/n: "Yo man, what-sup?"
Toriel: ¨You only wanted to say hello...? Well then. Hello! I hope that suffices. Hee hee.¨
Then she hung up, he got curious about the other choices and called her again, but this time, he picked 'Ask about herself' and on the first ring, she picked up once again.
Toriel: ¨This is Toriel.¨
He then said that he wanted to know more about her, and she said,
Toriel: ¨You want to know more about me? Well, I am afraid there is not much to say. I am just a silly little lady that worries too much!¨
*Click...*
She hung up and Y/n called again, and as he was about to pick, 'Call her 'Mom', a weird frog creature with a smaller black creature underneath of it hopped into the hall that he was in and looked at him.
Y/n and the frog-like creature stared at each other for a few minutes and then he pressed the , 'Call her 'Mom' option and she picked up.
Toriel: ¨This is Toriel."
Y/n: "Ay Yo Ma!! There's a stray frog here!! I Don't Want It To Start A Fight With Me!!"
The frog-like creature tilts its head to the side as he said this.
Toriel: ¨Huh? Did you just call me... 'Mom'? Hmm... I suppose that's ok. Would that make you happy?"
Y/n then interrupted Toriel and followed up with,
Y/n: "Didn't You Hear Me!? I Said There's A Fucking Stray Frog Here!! It Looks Like My Grandma The Fucking Thing!!"
Toriel didn't listen to him as she was in her own little world and continued.
Toriel: "...To call me... 'Mother?' Then you can call me whatever you like!¨
Y/n: "Aye! Get The Fuck Out Of Here!! I Don't Even Know If That's A Freaking Frog! Blink Mother Fucker!!"
He yelled at the frog-like creature. Then the creature hopped closer to Y/n and on the other sided the line, Toriel heard him scream,
Y/n (over the phone): "Aahh-"
*Click...*
Toriel had closed the phone and ended the call, still being in her own world.

After the mini battle with the creature that was now known as froggits, it hopped away with a blush across its face, seeming content with the compliments that were given to it.
The frog hit was now gone from the room and Y/n had just caught his breath, then he thought back to when you called Toriel 'Mom'.
(*You don't know why, but you have the sneaky suspicion that she enjoyed being called mom a little too much.*)
Then Y/n hesitated for a moment before pressing call again and choosing the option to flirt with her. After the first ring, she picked up and he told his corniest pickup line.
Y/n: "There's something wrong with my Cell Phone. It doesn't have your number in it."
After that was said, Toriel responded,
Toriel: "But... don't you already have my phone number, my child?"
Y/n: "What? No, Toriel, that was a pickup line. I was flirting with you.
An awkward pause was given between them as Y/n smacked himself in the head for even picking the option. Then When Toriel spoke, he could hear her confusion.
Toriel: ¨... Huh??? Oh, heh... heh, Ha ha ha. How adorable... I could pinch your cheek! You can certainly find better than an old woman like me.¨
*Click...*
Then he began to feel ballsy and chose the same option. After she picked up on the first ring, he told her another corny pickup line about her sitting on a pile of sugar, though he didn't really know what it meant, he only heard the security guard tell it every time one of his caretakers would pass by the front desk.
Toriel: ¨Oh dear, are you serious... ? And after you said you want to call me 'mother... ' You sure are an... 'interesting' child.¨
*Click...*
Y/n then felt something within himself, that made him feel regret for his choices. But, he shook that feeling off as best as he could and said,
Y/n: ¨... Why did I do that? I need to leave this room.¨
So, he tucked the Cell Phone into his pocket and walked to the next room. Once he entered the next room, the phone began to ring, it was Toriel. He picked up and she said,
Toriel: ¨You have not left the room, have you? There are a few puzzles ahead that I have yet to explain. It would be dangerous to try to solve them by yourself. Be good, alright?¨
*Click...
Y/n: ¨Wait, how the hell did she know?!¨
After a few minutes of debating on what to do next, Y/n decided to press forward. He then saw another Savepoint that was just across from him. He went to it and the message said,
(*Playfully crinkling through the leaves fills you with Determination.*)
He saved and continued onward. He went to the next room and the Cell Phone rang again, he picked up and she said,
Toriel: ¨Hello? This is Toriel. For no reason in particular... Which do you prefer? Cinnamon or Butterscotch?¨
He was given two more choices, and he picked Cinnamon.
Toriel: ¨Oh, I see. Thank you very much!¨
*Click...*
He was then about to continue until the Cell Phone rang again, he picked it up and heard Toriel say,
Toriel: ¨You do not dislike Butterscotch, do you? I know what you're preference is, but... would you turn up your nose if you found it on your plate?¨
Y/n: ¨No, I don't really mind which one I find on my plate, I mean they are only flavors in the end.¨
Toriel: ¨Right, right, I understand. Thank you for being patient, by the way."
*Click...*
This made Y/n smile as he continued to press onward with Determination. He solved many puzzles and used the skills that Toriel taught him in every single encounter.
He then entered a room with only a block of cheese on a table and another Savepoint. Y/n walked over to the cheese, interacted with it and a message popped up saying,
(*This cheese has been here for quite a long time. It's stuck to the table...*)
He turned away from the cheese and walked towards the Savepoint, the message said,
(*Knowing the mouse might one day leave its hole and get the cheese... It fills you with Determination.*)
He saved and continued to pass the cheese and exited to the next room, where he found a ghost lying down on red flowers, he would have left him be, but he was in the way of him progressing any further.
So Y/n walked up to the ghost and said,
Y/n: ¨Excuse me, ghost, but can you move out of the way? You are blocking my path.¨
But in response, all he heard was,
???: ¨zzzzzzzzzzzzz' (is he gone yet?) 'zzzzzzzzzz... ¨
(*This ghost keeps saying 'z' out loud repeatedly, they're pretending to sleep.*)
Then a message popped up that said,
(*Move it with force?*)
He was given two more options, 'Yes' and 'No'. He didn't really see any other way to get the ghost to move, so he pressed yes and entered a Fight with them.
His SOUL floated in front of him and hit the 'Act' button and a message said,
(¨Napstablook - ATK 10 DEF 10, This monster doesn't have a sense of humor... ¨)
The message disappeared and Napstablook said in a saddening tone,
Napstablook: (¨oh, i'm really funny.¨)
After saying this, tears began to come out of their eyes and began falling toward his SOUL. He dodged every single tear and another message popped up saying,
(*Napstablook is wishing they weren't here.*)
Y/n wanted to help them, so he went to Act and had four options to choose from, 'Check', 'Flirt', 'Threat', and 'Cheer'.
He chose to Flirt with them and their response was even more saddening than the last,
Napstablook: (¨I'd just weigh you down.¨)
He then prepared himself for another attack from Napstablook, but nothing happened except a text saying,
("Really not feeling up to it right now. Sorry.")
(*The faint odor of ectoplasm permeates the vicinity.*)
It was now Y/ns turn, he reselected, 'Act' and this time, he picked the option to cheer them on.
Y/n: (¨I believe in you!¨)
He told Napstablook, they then chuckled to themself,
Y/n: ('Good, that's progress, progress is always good.')
Now it was Napstablook's turn again. After Y/n dodged all of the tears again, it was his turn once more.
("Napstablook looks just a little bit better.")
He chose to cheer them on once more with a little joke,
Y/n: (¨Come on let us not fight, I know you don't want to either Napstablook, I mean I can practically 'see right through you.'¨)
Napstablook chuckled once more and they did their turn, the tears were less frequent now. He dodged all of Napstablook's tears and now it was his turn again.
("Cheering seems to have improved Napstablook's mood again.")
Y/n chose to cheer for them again.
("Napstablook wants to show you something...")
Napstablook: (¨Let me try...¨)
Tears came out of Napstablook's eyes and began forming something on their head.
Napstablook: (¨I call it 'Dapper Blook' do you like it?¨)
Once it was finished, Y/n saw that it was a top hat.
("Napstablook eagerly awaits your response.")
He smiled at them and chose to cheer for them one last time.
Y/n: (¨Loving the look, Napstablook. It really suits you.¨)
Napstablook then smiled.
Napstablook: (¨Oh gee... ¨)
*Napstablook has ended the Fight.*
Then Napstablook spoke while still lying on the ground and said,
Napstablook: ¨I usually come to the Ruins because there's nobody around... but today I met somebody nice... oh, I'm rambling again, i'll get out of your way.¨
Although they said that they were rambling, Y/n wanted to talk with them for a little longer. But he had to continue anyway.
He then saw that there was a fork in the road, up ahead he saw a room with something inside of it, and in the other direction, he saw another froggit which kind of frightened him a little bit.
So he walked into the room that was up ahead and saw a couple spiderwebs sitting in two corners of the room and a lone sign in the middle of the room. He walked to the sign which said,
(*Spider Bake Sale! All proceeds go to real spiders.*)
He had no idea what that meant, but he then proceeded to walk over to one of the webs that sat in the corner of the room and drop 7 coins onto the web.
Once he did, a little spider crawled down the web and grabbed the 7 coins one by one until there were no more coins on the web. Then a few more spiders climbed onto the web with a strangely decorated donut on their backs.
The top part of the donut was frosted in pink frosting and had little spider decorations on it, which actually made him smile for how adorable it made the donut look.
Y/n grabbed it off their backs and put it in his pocket because he wasn't hungry at the moment and surprisingly, it didn't crumble or break into pieces.
He then saw one of the little spiders waving one of its six legs at him to thank him for his purchase on the web and then it walked off to a place that was out of sight.
He walked out of the room with a smile on his face and walked past the red flowers and went up and through the other path, which brought him to another hallway with three froggits standing on the side of the path.
Y/n: ('I really just want to sleep now, where is Toriel?')
He walked down the hallway while also learning some important information from the last frog about Sparing monsters after their name turning yellow.
Right before he was about to get to the next room, the phone rang, he took it out and on the screen it said 'Toriel' He answered the phone and Toriel said,
Toriel: ¨Hello? I just realized that it has been a while since I have cleaned up. I was not expecting any company so soon. There are probably a lot of things lying here and there. You can pick them up if you'd like, but don't carry too much. Someday you might see something you really like.¨
*Click...*
(*The fact that things would be lying around the Ruins, worried you a little. But the thought of finding new things filled you with Determination.*)
Y/n continued through the doorway and found himself in another hallway, but it was way different from the others, there were many holes in the floor that looked big enough for him to fall through one.
He saw a sign near the entrance that said,
(*There is only one lever.*)
He then figured that the lever would be in one of the holes in the floor, so he walked to the hole that was on the bottom left of the hallway and looked down before jumping down and landing on a large bed of red flowers.
When he got up, he then saw a red ribbon that looked a little faded on the floor, he picked it up and checked the stats on it, and it said,
(*Faded Ribbon - Armor, Def-3, 'If you're cuter, monsters won't hit you as hard.'*)
He severely doubted it with every fiber of his being, but it was the first item he picked up that helped with defense...somehow. So he equipped it and put it around his wrist.
Once he put it on, he felt something else, something that made him feel more...calm and collected than he was before.
(*You begin to feel your Patience grow ever more as you see a shining glint of light come off the Faded Ribbon.*)
The glow of the light was becoming a little bright, so Y/n squinted his eyes and shielded them with his other hand. Then right after, the light began to be less bright, Y/n removed his hand and saw that the light was actually a light shade of blue.
It felt relaxing to look at the light as it then began to circle around the Faded Ribbon. Then he heard something out of the blue, (¨Giggle¨), it was the playful giggle of a little girl.
The giggling continued as the light spun faster around the Faded Ribbon, the light began to glow bright again as it spun. It almost seemed like it was having fun, then with one last bright shine of its own light, it dissipated into the ribbon.
To his surprise, the Faded Ribbon had turned from red, to light blue and it looked brand new now too. Y/n then had his eye caught by a word that was found on one of the loops of the Ribbon, it said, ¨Patience¨. Then a thought suddenly popped into his head,
Y/n: ('Did anything else other than the color of the ribbon change?')
So, in order to find out, he pulled up the menu, selected his inventory which then showed what he had equipped and what was in his inventory. He then saw that the ribbon's name had been changed from, 'Faded Ribbon' to 'Patience Ribbon.'
Y/n: ¨What the heck is a 'Patience Ribbon'? Did any of it's states change?¨
He then selected the ribbon and checked the ribbon, it said,
(*Patience Ribbon'- Armor, Def- 8, 'Giggle, Patience is a virtue.'*)
Y/n: ¨Hmm...that's strange, it's like I found a completely different ribbon. The name, the Defense and the message had changed. Very strange indeed. Although, I did meet a depressed ghost, a talking flower with a face, and a goat lady ever since I first fell down here... why do I get the feeling that I will meet many weirder monsters?¨
Then he heard the playful giggling again, (¨Giggle¨), and then it was gone again, leaving him with his thoughts and questions.
(*You once again feel like you're being followed, but this time, the feeling has doubled.*)
Y/n brushed the feeling aside as best as he could, and exited the hole to inspect the others. Once he had gotten out of the hole, he walked over to the hole next to it, looked down into it and saw Napstablook lying on the ground.
He smiled, got on his knees, looked down the hole and said,
Y/n: ¨Hi, Napstablook! Why are you in this hole?¨
Napstablook then spoke with a louder tone than usual.
Napstablook: ¨I fell down a hole... Now I can't get up... ¨
Y/n then chuckled to himself and said,
Y/n: ¨Napstablook, you're a ghost, they can't fall or get stuck because they can float.¨
Napstablook was silent for a few moments and then said,
Napstablook: ¨oh yeah, you're right.¨
They then floated out of the hole and disappeared into thin air. Y/n then stood up and walked over to the hole that was right across from that hole, fell down and saw a lever. He flipped it and heard a loud *Clunk* in the distance. He climbed out and went to the next room.

After he had solved that puzzle, he went to the next room, which opened up to a wide open area.
Y/n: ¨Finally!¨
Yelled Y/n as relief filled his mind. But then he saw two paths up ahead and he got curious as he walked into another wide open area, it was a cliff side with a view of a house in the distance.
It was surrounded by other buildings as well, but then a thought came to mind as he continued to look at them.
Y/n: ¨What are these buildings made out of? They almost look like bricks, but we are underground so how did they get bricks?¨
Then at the corner of his eye, he spotted a toy knife laying on the ground, even though it was plastic, it looked really dangerous, so he picked up the Toy Knife and put it in his inventory.
He exited the room and walked down the hallway that opened up to another long hall, but this hallway had a huge leafless tree with black bark in front of the entrance. Y/n was just about to walk around the tree, when he heard Toriel's voice around it.
Toriel: ¨Oh dear, that took longer than I thought it would.¨
She walked around the tree with her Cell Phone to her ear and spotted Y/n standing at the entrance of the hall. She ran towards him and with a worried expression.
Toriel: ¨How did you get here, my child? Are you hurt?¨
Y/n shook his head no and explained to her how he got here. When he was done explaining, Toriel sighed a breath of relief.
Toriel: ¨I should not have left you alone for so long. It was irresponsible of me to surprise you with that. *Sigh*, oh well, I guess I can't hide it any longer. Come with me, my child.¨
She then walked the other way and Y/n followed after her to a small house with two large beds of red flowers. One of the flower beds had another Savepoint, so he walked up to it, interacted with it and the message said,
(*Seeing such a cute, tidy house in the Ruins gives you Determination.*)
He then saved and with a smile on his face, he walked into the door and entered the house.
HOOOOOO MY GOODNESS!!! 5033 words!! My God!! Well, that's not that much for me. I'm going to go work on Chapter 3 now! Ciao!
