--------+++++---------

Om made Ru go to bed at the usual timing while he decided to wait for Shivaay to come back home from his walk.

Om wasn't oblivious to Shivaay's changed behaviour. He noticed everything, from the way Shivaay kept glancing at the kitchen all the time to how Shivaay always seemed worried and lost in thought about something.

Om was worried about his elder brother. He knew he didn't had to worry about anything when he had an amazing older brother by his side...

But about his elder brother ? Who did he have to look up to ? No one.

Om knew what Shivaay must be going through. After all, Shivaay was just a kid.

Om sighed and switched the lights off. He got into the bed beside an already snoring Rudy and kissed the top of his forehead.

That's when Shivaay reached home and let out a frustrated sigh. He didn't see that Om was still awake. He assumed that OmRu were fast asleep as the lights were off.

What a fate Shivaay had got !

Abandoned by family at the age of 9, raised by a kind man but always felt like a burden on him, lost the kind man at the age of 16 and left to face the cruel world and raise his brothers all by himself with not a single elder by his side.

"Bhai, aap aa gaye ?" ("Brother, you're home ?")

Shivaay was startled by the sudden commotion. He looked at Om and his hand instinctively shot on the pocket in which the brown packet rested.

"A..arey O..Om, soye nahi tum abhi tak ?" ("H..hey O..Om, you didn't sleep yet ?") Shivaay stuttered and wiped his face nervously.

Om frowned at Shivaay's stuttering and jumped down the bed to turn the lights on. Once the room was perfectly lit up, he looked at Shivaay.

"Bhai, are you alright ?" Om asked with concern filled eyes.

"Y..yeah. I'm..I'm fine." Shivaay stammered yet again.

Om nodded half-heartedly cause he didn't wish to press the topic more.

"So jao, Om, Good night." ("Go to sleep, Om, Good night.") Shivaay feigned a smile, which Om knew was fake but still didn't pointed it out.

"Good night, Bhai." Om said without any expression.

Shivaay switched the lights off again and relieved a sigh. He quickly tip-toed towards the kitchen and dropped the brown packet back into the tinted container.

Shivaay then walked into the living room again and slid into his bed. He released all of his worries and fell into not-so-peaceful sleep.

Loud knocks on the door woke ShivOm with a jerk.

Shivaay sat up in his bed. His heart was racing 200 kmph speed.

"B..Bhai, iss waqt kon ho sakta hai ?" ("B..Brother, who can come at this ungodly hour ?") Om asked shakily.

Shivaay looked at the wall clock and his eyebrows shot up. It was 3 in the morning.

Before Shivaay could reply or calm his scared brother down, a loud knock again sounded on the door.

"Darwaza kholo ! Hum Mumbai police se hai." ("Open the door ! We're from Mumbai Police.")

A deep voice came through the door.

Shivaay's eyes widened and a shiver ran down his spine. He gulped and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"B..bhai ?" Om looked at Shivaay as his breathing peaked up.

"K..kuch nahi hai Om...It's ok...Sa..Sab thik hai." ("I..Its nothing Om...It's ok...Ev.. everything is alright.") Shivaay assured but fear was clearly visible in his voice.

"Darwaza kholo !" ("Open the door !")

The same deep voice said from the other side of the door.

Shivaay stood up and took trembling steps towards the door. He took a few deep breaths before opening the door.

As soon as Shivaay opened the door, police barged inside.

"Officer, yeh kya ho raha hai ?" ("What's happening, Officer ?") Shivaay asked with as much confidence as he could muster.

"Chalo, tum sab side mein khade ho jao. Hume talashi leni hai." ("Stand aside both of you. Let us search your home.") The police officer replied as his subordinates pushed past Shivaay and started searching the place.

"Lekin humari ghar ki talashi kyu ?" ("But why ?") Shivaay asked still somehow managing to keep his voice steady.

Om walked beside Shivaay while Ru was still soundly asleep.

"Kya sirf tum tino hi yaha rehte ho ?" ("Only you 3 live here ?") The officer asked.

"Ji haan." ("Yes.") Shivaay replied as he kept glancing at the constable who was looking in the kitchen.

"Naam kya hai tum logo ka ?" ("What are you guys names ?") Officer asked in a bored tone.

Shivaay didn't reply cause he was too busy in hoping that the police don't find the packet.

Om looked at Shivaay's disturbed face and decided to act responsibly. "Ji, yeh mera bada bhai hai, Shivaay Oberoi, mein hu Omkara Oberoi aur woh humara chota bhai Rudra Oberoi." ("Well, this is my big brother, Shivaay Oberoi, I'm Omkara Oberoi and that's our lil brother Rudra Oberoi.") He replied.

The officer nodded. "Apke parents kaha pe hai ?" ("Where are your parents ?")

"Nahi hai." ("We don't have any.") Om replied with a hard face.

"Nahi hai matlab ? Kahi ghar se bhag vagh ke toh nahi aaye ho na tum log ?" ("What do you mean ? You all haven't ran away from your home, have you ?") The officer asked as he eyed them suspiciously.

"Ji humari maa 7 saal pehle chali gayi aur humare baba kuch mahine pehle hi...gujar..gaye." ("Our mom left us 7 years ago and our baba passed...away...a few months back.") Om replied and looked away.

"Hmm." The officer nodded. He then turned to his subordinates. "Thik se dekho, ghar ka chappa chappa chhaan nikalo." ("Look carefully, search every corner of the house.")

"Aap log kya dhund rahe hai ? Aur aise kaise humare ghar mein ghus sakte hai aap, woh bhi raat ke 3 baje !?" ("What are you looking for ? And how can you just barge in our house, that too at 3 o'clock in the morning ?!") Shivaay asked angrily.

The officer looked at him. "Hum drugs dhund rahe hai. Tumhare jaise aj kal ke bacche yaha pe padhne aate hai aur paiso ki lalach mein drug trafficking ke chakkar mein phas jaate hai." ("We're looking for drugs. Boys like you come here for studies and get trapped in drug smuggling for money.") The officer replied in an authoritative tone.

"Pr hum waise nahi hai." ("But we're not like those.") Om defended. "Mera bhai kabhi galat kaam kar hi nahi sakta ! Woh iss duniya ka sabse sharif insaan hai." ("My brother cannot do anything wrong, ever ! He's the most gentle man in the world.")

Shivaay felt a pang of guilt hit his heart at the innocent trust Om showed at him. Om had a blind trust on Shivaay and Shivaay didn't wish to know what would happen if he fails to keep that blind trust of Om safe.

"Woh toh pata chal hi jayega." ("We'll find that out.") The officer mumbled. "Filal side mein khade raho aur hume apna kaam karne do." ("For now stay aside and let us do our work.")

ShivOm stood at one side and watched their home being wrecked by the police.

Shivaay's mind was frozen. He couldn't believe the situation.

What if he gets caught ?

What if he's sent to jail ?

What will happen to his brothers if he goes to jail ? They don't even have anyone to take care of them.

What will OmRu think of him if they found out that he was dealing in drugs ?

All these thoughts made Shivaay's mind go hazy and dull. He didn't know what to do or what to expect from the situation.

Suddenly he was able to see all his life being crumpled like a paper due to his one single mistake.

"Arey waha pe kuch nahi hai, bas masale hai." ("Hey there is nothing, just some species.") Shivaay yelled at the constable who was about to look into the tinted container which had the packet.

"Hume humara kaam karne do. Chup chap khade raho." ("Let us do our work. Shut up.") The constable replied and opened the container.

Shivaay's eyes welled up with tears.

The constable handed the brown packet to the officer.

The officer opened the packet and pulled out 3 small transparent bags of white powder. Officer opened one of those pockets and smelled it.

A nasty look appeared on the officer's face. "Dekho kitna doodh ka dhula hai tumhara bhai." ("See for yourself how innocent and gentleman is your brother.") He said to Omkara while he stared directly at Shivaay.

"Yeh drugs nahi ho sakte." ("These cannot be drugs.") Om mumbled in disbelief. "Yeh jarur kuch aur hoga...Baking soda, ya fir namak ?" ("This is definitely something else...maybe baking soda, or salt ?")

"Beta tum chhote ho, tum nahi samjhoge." ("Dear, you're a kid, you won't understand.") One of the constable said sadly.

"Apna naam kya bataya tha tumne ? Oberoi na ?" ("What was your name again ? Oberoi was it ?") The officer asked but neither of the brothers replied.

Om looked at Shivaay with tears streaming down his cheeks. On the other hand, Shivaay stared at the ground in shame. He couldn't meet Om's eyes.

"Oberoi ho na...Tumse aur umeed bhi kya ki jaa sakti hai ? Tum Oberois gaddar ke gaddar hi rahoge." ("You're an Oberoi...What else can we expect from you ? You Overoi's are traitors and you can do no good.") The officer said.

Om's gaze fell down at the floor as shame engulfed his heart. He believed that his family was a traitor.

"Aye !" Shivaay yelled angrily and jumped on the officer. He clutched the collar of the officer's shirt. "How dare you ! Mere parivaar ke baare mein ek aur galat shabd nahi verna..." ("How dare you ! Don't you dare to say anything wrong about my family or else...") Shivaay raised his fist and was about to punch the officer but Om's voice made him stop.

"Ruko bhai !" ("Stop Brother !") Om yelled, making Shivaay stop in mid air.

Two constables pulled Shivaay off of the officer and held him down.

"Kya yeh sach hai bhai ?" ("Is it true brother ?") Om asked as he stifled in a sob.

Shivaay looked at Om for not more than a second. In that one second, Shivaay saw disappointment and shame in Om's eyes for him.

Shivaay couldn't get himself to reply to Om's question.

"Bolo bhai !" ("Tell me, brother !") Om yelled in a cracking voice.

"Arey yeh kya bolega. Mein batata hu." ("What will he say, I'll tell you.") The officer glared at Shivaay. "Tumhara bhai drug dealer hai. Ek criminal." ("Your brother is a drug dealer. A criminal.")

Shivaay closed his eyes in agony.

"Le chalo issey." ("Take him.") The officer ordered the constables. "Mr Shivaay Oberoi, you're under arrest."

"Bhai ?" ("Brother ?") Ru's tender voice squeaked from the bed.

ShivOm's head snapped in his direction. Ru was sitting in the bed while rubbing his eyes sleepily.

Before anyone could say anything, Shivaay was dragged out of the house and forced into the police jeep. His hands were handcuffed.

Om held Ru close to him without saying anything.

Shivaay was then thrown into the jail in the police station. He sat in the cornor of the jail room and cried for the deeds he had committed.

Just then Om arrived there and looked at Shivaay through the bars.

"How could you, Shivaay ?"

Om's voice snapped Shivaay out of his thoughts. He looked at Om and saw nothing but pure hatred in Om's eyes for him.

Shivaay's pain only deepened when he registered that Om had called him 'Shivaay' and not 'Bhai'.

"Om." Shivaay whispered and rushed towards the bars. "I'm sorry." He whispered out.

"To hell with your sorry !" Om blasted off in anger. "Mujhe aapse yeh umeed nahi thi !" ("I didn't expect this from you !")

"Maa papa ne toh Oberois ka naam badnaam kar hi diya tha aur ab aap bhi ?!" ("Mom dad had already defamed Oberois and now you too ?!") Om asked as few tears escaped his eyes. "You proved that Overoi's are criminals. I'm ashamed to be an Oberoi." Om said and looked away.

"Nahi, Om. Aise mat bol...Mujhse galati ho gayi, I'm sorry." ("No, Om. Don't say that...I did a mistake, I'm sorry.") Shivaay cried.

"Nahi, galati toh mujhse hui hai." ("No, I did a mistake.") Om wiped his tears and looked straight into Shivaay's eyes. "Aur ab mein yeh galati sudharunga. Mein nahi chahta ki Rudy pr aapka saaya bhi gire. Mein Rudy ko lekar yaha se jaa raha hu. Bye Shivaay. Goodbye." ("And now I'll mend my mistake. I don't want you around Rudy anymore. I'm going away with Rudy. Bye Shivaay. Goodbye.")

With that said, Om turned around and marched out of the police station.

Shivaay watched the retracting figures of OmRu fade into the dark as he kept yelling for them to stop.

✴️

"Please mat jao." ("Don't go please.") Shivaay said and woke up from his nightmare. He sat up abruptly and took some deep breaths. "Sapna tha Shivaay. Woh bas sapna tha." ("It was dream, Shivaay. Just a dream.") He assured himself and wiped the tears which had escaped down his eyes.

He snapped his head around and relief crossed his heart when he saw his dear brothers sleeping peacefully in their bed.

He then looked at the clock and realised that it was already 15 past 7 in the morning.

Shivaay sighed and decided to wake up and get fresh.

That nightmare wouldn't have let him fall asleep anyway.

Hey bubblies !

First of all,  AashimaSehgal
I know this is not what you wanted me to write but I got another amazing plan for the later chapters and for that I need to keep Shivaay's illegal activities a secret from OmRu.
I hope I didn't disappoint you. 🤞💖

Ok back to the chapter...

Were you all scared when you read that Shivaay got arrested ? 😜

Or

Had you already guessed it was just a stupid nightmare ? 🤭

I'm sorry to scare you... *Smiles sheepishly*

I don't know why I did it...One day I woke up from sleep and told myself that this would be the plot for the next chapter...I'm so random and childish...🙈😂

Stay tuned ♥️

Until the next update,
Have a safe and great life 😇
