I ringed the doorbell from the house that Diane told me was hers. It was a pretty decent house in a good neighbourhood.
A young girl, maybe around 17 years old opened the door with a angry look on her face. "You here for my mom?"
"Yes i am." I put my hand forward to introduce myself but she rolled her eyes and stepped away from the door.
I put my hand back down and followed her inside.
I sat down on the couch while the girl stood in the doorway leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed. She definitely looked like the type of kid you would walk a big circle around on the street because you're afraid they might attack you. She had long black hair that she had put in a loose ponytail, she had a nose piercing and was wearing big ripped mom jeans with a black crop top and a flannel over it.
"So, uhm what's your name?" I asked hesitantly.
She moved closer to me and looked me sternly in my eyes."What are you're intentions with my mother?"
I felt myself getting sweaty and let out a nervous laugh. "What do you mean?"
"Do you plan on taking her on a second date or are you just trying to get into her pants?"
Damm this girl really wasn't one to joke around with. "All my intentions with your mom are good and honest. I truly think your mom is a wonderful person, i would really like to get to know her better and of course her family."
She looked me up and down one more time and then put her hand forward.
I shook it.
"Becky Underwood" She said shaking my hand. I also introduced myself but she didn't let go of my hand. She tightened her grip and pulled my closer towards her.
"If you even lay one unwanted hand on her or even think about breaking her heart i will personally make sure you'll regret doing that." She whispered in my ear.
She let go of my hand and stepped away from me. Just as she was leaving the room she turned back around "Oh and one more thing. Don't forget to use protection." She said with a big smile.
I definitely wanted to say something back but when i opened my mouth Diane come downstairs. "I'm ready! Sorry for the wait, i lost track of time."
I got up and gave her big smile, "You look stunning."
We both got into to the car i finally let myself relax, i let that kid walk all over me. Diane noticed my hesitation in starting the car and asked "Is there something wrong?"
"No everything is fine." I started up the car and backed out of the driveway.
"Becky said something, didn't she?" Diane asked me.
"Yeah, she kinda interrogated me about what my intentions were and such."
"I'm sorry if she made you feel uncomfortable. It's has been a difficult year for her and me, bringing a strange man into house must have been hard for her. I'm sure that if you get know her you'll see how nice she can be." She explained with a soft voice and layed her hand on my knee.
I placed my hand on hers. "You're right. I can't wait to get to know you better and your family."
Becky
My freedom didn't last long, 15 minutes after Ashton and my mom had left my brother was dropped off by his mother's friend. He came home excited and still full of energy.
"Where's mama?" He yelled at me as soon as he entered the house.
"On a date with her new friend."
He shrugged and went to sit on the couch. I turned the tv on for him and went back into the kitchen to finish making dinner. I didn't really expected Jack to care about the fact that my mother was on a date with a guy, he was only 6. I didn't really cook anything special just potatoes with some veggies and a meatball.
I put the plate infront of Jack and without saying thank you or anything else he grabbed it and started eating. I sighed, i had given up to try and teach Jack manners. Everytime i corrected his behaviour he would just yell at me that i am not his mom. Which was a fair point, i was his sister not his mother but i took more care of him then my mother had ever done.
I grabbed my own plate and joined him on the couch. He was watching animal planet, he was obsessed with animals and wanted to run his own Zoo when he grew up. I might be mean but shattering somebody else's dreams wasn't something i did. I always supported him even though he didn't care about me.
I was kinda getting bored of watching animal planet. I grabbed my phone and saw that it was almost 9 o'clock. Without a warning i turned the tv off and got up.
"It's time for bed"
He rolled himself up in a ball on the couch. "No it's not. I'm not tired yet."
I picked him up and trew him over my shoulder. I wasn't having this argument with him.
"Let me go! Let me go" he screamed out.
I ignored him, i put him down as soon as i entered his room. "You finished with your little tantrum?" I asked him, standing in front of him with my hands in my side.
He stuck his tongue out at my and walked angry to the bathroom. I sat down on his bed waiting for him to finish getting ready. After 10 minutes he stomped into the room still looking rather angry. I ignored his face and tucked him into to bed.
"Do you want me to read you a bedtime story?" I asked once he was settled in bed.
"No, i want mommy." He said pouting.
"Well she's not going to be home until late in the night so do you want me to read you a story or not."
He shook his head.
I kissed his forhead and said "Goodnight".
He didn't say anything back. I carefully closed the door behind me and walked downstairs to clean up the mess. This wasn't the first time that Jack had asked for mother when she wasn't there, it was heartbreaking. I knew my mom loved us very much and she was one of the kindest people I knew but i just wished that she would spent some more time with us.
I was finally finished with cleaning everything up. I jumped on the couch, laying down with my phone in my hands. My best friend Maddy was calling me. She had been my best friend since i can remember, she was one of the craziest person on earth. We did everything together. I picked the phone up.
"Hey, what's up." I said enthusiastic.
"Nothing much I'm just chilling in my room. What about you? I heard that you got into a pretty nasty fight?"
"Nah it wasn't that bad, i only took one punch to the face."
"And the other guy?" She asked.
"I don't know but gave him a few good punches in the face. I'm pretty sure he had to get stitches."
"Damm Becky, you need to be more careful i don't want you getting expelled. Than I'll be all alone in that shitty school."
"Don't worry, it wasn't on school property so they can't do anything except give me a lecture about my behaviour."
"Lucky you. What did your mom say?"
I started to hear noises from upstairs meaning my brother was awake, i ignored them. "She wants me to talk to a shrink again and I'm grounded for 2 weeks."
"Oh that's not that bad. You got away good."
I now heard a tumbling noice followed by a loud bang. Not long after that i heard my brother crying, the idot had probably falling down the stairs.
"Hey I'm gonna have to call you back. My brother just fell down the stairs." I said to Maddy, not waiting for her reply i hang up.
I walked towards the stairs and immediately went into panic mode. My brother had fallen down the stairs hitting his head in the process. Blood was streaming down his face ouf of a big cut on his forhead. I quickly tied my flannel around his wound and held pressure on it with one hand, with the other hand i called a ambulance. There was no way that i was driving to the hospital myself with his bleeding head.
He was starting to cry even louder."It hurts!" He cried out.
"I know it does, but it will all be over soon. Help is on his way."
Why did have to happen today? First the fight at school and now this shit, my mom was going to kill me.
