Farrah's POV
"Do you need any help with that?"
I turned to face Jackson, who pointed to the line of streamers I was tasked to hang on the stair rails, "No. I'll be fine."
Even after the happiness of the birth of Steph's baby, I was still a bit hesitant in the way I presented myself in front of Jackson. I forgave him for the things he said, but I wasn't yet ready to try again, and he didn't need to get the wrong idea.
"Hey, Deej, hurry up. It's banner time." Steve called as he admired the decorations Ramona, Max, Jackson, and I had helped him set up
Dj rushed into the room, eager to see the set up and prepare for the banner reveal, "Do not unfurl a banner without me. You know the house rules."
"Believe me, we know. No banner till you see Dj Tanner." Max stated, repeating the oddly common phrase of the household
"See? Everything's better when it rhymes." She smiled, "Now remember, everyone, the baby came early. Stephanie and Jimmy have not had a chance to pick out the name yet, so let's not make them feel self conscious."
Steve released the banner that held a welcome to the baby who would be named later. Jackson turned to face everyone with an expression of slight confusion, "Welcome home, baby-to-be-named-later?"
"Cute name. Might be hard for a Starbucks barista to spell, though." I joked, laughing at my own sense of humor
"Yeah, I kinda wish you'd given your speech before I went to the printers'." Ramona sheepishly responded, messing with her hair
"The last thing we want to do is make them feel pressured. But they better have it by 6:30 tonight before the baby-naming party." Dj groaned
"There's gonna be a lot of people in the house. Legally, if three more people move in, we have to register as a commune." Ramona said
I continued hanging the streamers, hanging over the railing to do so. Quickly, I realized my mistake when I ended half bent over the railing, threatening to smack the second floor.
"Now, I know I rejected your help a minute ago, but could someone help me before all the blood rushes to my head?" I asked, gaining the attention of everyone in the room
Jackson jogged up the stairs with a small smile on his face, as Steve began to freak out underneath me.
"If you fall, I'll catch you. I may not be a super strong man, but you're like the size of an American girl doll so I think I'll manage." Steve cried
"Good to know, but if Jackson would hurry I'd say we're all good." I smiled
"You're in no place to give attitude, Missy." Jackson joked, gently pulling me back over the railing before taking the streamers and pinning it in the final spot
"Thank you for helping me before Dj and Steve had a heart attack." I smiled, laughing at the two adults reaction
"I'd say it's more saving than helping, but agree to disagree." Jackson smirked, lightly pushing me down the stairs so I couldn't further danger myself on the second floor
"Okay, I think I've got everything done. The nursery is all set. I've got my color-coded schedule for eating, sleeping, and pooping, and no one has died." Dj said, gently patting me on the top of the head
"Have you filled out the baby's college applications yet?" Steve joked
Dj frowned, "No. That's why I need a name. Look, I just want everything to be perfect and as easy as possible for Steph."
"Someone's coming." Ramona called, as the sound of car tires rolled up the driveway
We all moved close to the door, ready to cheer when Steph and the new baby entered the house.
"Not to loudly. We don't want to wake the baby." Dj commented
"Don't wake the baby, Huh?" Jackson stated in a weird voice, earning concerned glances from everyone in the room
"Uncle Jesse. Pretty good impression." I sarcastically replied
"You could actually tell what that was?" Ramona asked
"Spend enough time with him, and there's not many of his impression that you won't know." I sighed, readying myself for the door to open
The door opened and we all quietly cheered, before realizing it was just Danny. Our cheers turned into groans, earning a look from the older man.
"That's not a baby. It's just Grandpa." Jackson groaned, "What a bummer."
"Really? You all realize you live here rent-free, right?" Danny asked, looking around at the house residents in the room
We began cheering louder, before the kids separated to continue setting up decorations in preparation for the party.
"Grandpa. This is all vodka, cigars, and neck pillows." Jackson commented, looking in Danny's shopping bag
"Sounds like a party to me." I joked, earning a glare from Dj, "My bad. Not the time."
"I just left the airport duty-free shop and took everything." Danny started, "I got a whole trunk load of Eternity by Calvin Klein."
"I hear a car" Dj called, getting everyone's attention
"Everyone hide." Jackson shouted, throwing out his arms
"It's not a surprise party." Ramona said
I picked up Tommy, placing him on my hip before we all made our way to gather around the door. The door opened, and we began cheering, once again, for who we thought was Steph and the baby.
Turned out to just be Kimmy and Fernando, resulting in another round of slightly disappointed faces.
"Hola, Tanneritos." Kimmy greeted with a large smile on her face, still in the dress she wore to Hamilton
I took Tommy to where Jackson and Ramona stood working on balloons. We were interrupted but Kimmy body slamming herself down the living room steps.
"Tommy. Normal people don't do that." I whispered to the small toddler in my arms, earning a laugh from him and Jackson
A third horn was heard from outside the house, giving Steve the chance to finally speak up, "That must be them. We're running out of people."
We moved to gather around the door for the third time, finally cheering for the correct group of people when Steph and Jimmy walked in with a bundled up baby.
"Everyone look. I have a baby. And they even let me bring her home." Steph joked
"I know, and they didn't even make us take a test or anything, and I studied." Jimmy replies in a much more serious tone
We stood around as Steph introduced the newborn to Danny and everyone else.
"No name, huh? Do you hippies at least have a wedding date?" Max asked
Jimmy nervously laughed, placing a hand over Max's mouth to silence him from any further questions.
"That would mean I proposed. I wouldn't do that without Grandpa Danny's permission. That's insanity." Jimmy covered up
The baby began to cry and Dj made her way to where the newborn sat in Danny's arm, "Oh, you've had enough time. Steph, remind me to show you how to swaddle her properly."
"Ouch." I commented, patting Steph's arm comfortingly
"I'm here for the baby. Give me the child." A random woman stated, making her way into the house, across the room, and into the kitchen after snatching the baby
"Did she just get kidnapped?" Jackson whispered to me
"Don't know, but at least we can describe her to the police." I sighed, peeking into the kitchen
___________
Dj gave the four older kids the task of finding the baby naming gown for the party, tonight.
After failing to find the gown anywhere, it was consecutively decided that we would ask Danny, seeing as he knew the house better than anyone
"Grandpa, do you know where we keep the family's baby-naming gown?" Jackson asked, leading us into the living room where Danny sat with Jimmy
"Yeah, I'd try the attic." He replied, earning shocked expressions from the four of us
"We have an attic?" Max asked
"Trust me, we have an attic. Just keep heading up the stairs until you hit the roof." Danny said
"The stairs are a bit dangerous for you." Ramona joked, giving me a small smile as we made it up into the attic
"Oh, shut up." I laughed, taking in the small attic space
"Hmm. We do have an attic. Grandpa has not completely lost it." Jackson smiled, while everyone else searched through boxes
"I found it. Aha." Max cried
"The baby-naming gown?" I asked, moving to the box he was at
"No. An 8-track from the band a-ha." Max responded, holding up the old recording
Jackson moved to another box where an odd orange stuffed animal sat. He admired it for a moment, before picking it up, "What's this old thing?"
"Old thing? You're holding a piece of cherished family history." Max cried, removing the toy from his older brother's arms, "This is Rigby. Aunt Michelle's beloved stuffed rhino."
"How'd you know that?" Ramona asked
"We have eight years of carefully curated home movies. It's almost like a TV show." Max recalled
"Sure seemed like it when we binged all of them that one weekend. Felt like an eight-year long hug." I remembered, thinking back the the late night weekend Max had forced me to watch them with him
"You know, for a family that prides itself on being normal, we have a lot of crazy stuff up here. I mean, a Fred Flintstone outfit? Some portrait of Fernando." Jackson said, looking around the room
"Whatever this thing is." He continued by picking up the spray guard 2001
"That's Uncle Jesse's invention. The spray guard 2001. You guys really have to watch these home movie." Max commented
I walked closer to the rack of old clothes, and browsed through the selection. I stopped on a covered outfit, and curiously opened it to reveal a short black dress.
"Max, look! It's your mom's old prom dress." I smiled, turning it to show the the young boy
"Things gets pretty crazy towards to end." He smiled, pointing to the dress, "Aunt Michelle got amnesia."
"You know what else is crazy? Someday, that kid downstairs is gonna be up here, pawing through our junk and making fun of how weird we are." Ramona realized
"We're not weird." Max insisted, before bending down to pick something up, "Oh, look. It's my King Jaguarito mask from my Mexican wrestling days."
We ignored the young boy and continued our search for the family gown.
"Found it." I called, bringing up a small onesie
"I remember Tommy wearing that." Max commented, gently touching the fabric
"Yeah, I remember you wearing that." Jackson told Max before continuing, "Apparently, I wore it, too."
"I was born in the back of a rental car, so my baby-naming gown was a floor mat." Ramona smiled
"I was too fat of a baby for something like this. If anything, my baby-naming gown was any kind of solid food a baby could eat." I laughed
____________
Everyone gathered in the living room later that night for the name reveal party of Steph and Jimmy's newborn.
I sat in an armchair, teaching Tommy jokes to tell his Grandpa Danny later, "Now, when they respond with 'Interrupting cow who?' what do you say?"
"Moo!" The young boy cried, making me smile
"Nailed it." I smiled, before pointing to Jackson, "Do it on big brother, okay?"
"Jackson." Tommy lightly called
"What's up bud? Is Farrah annoying you?" He asked, squatting by the small chair
"Knock, knock." The small boy repeated
"Who's ther..." Jackson started, before Tommy interrupted him by loudly mooing in his face
"Hilarious, kid." I laughed
"Very original, Tommy." Jackson sassed, embarrassed he hadn't recognized the old joke before taking a seat on the armrest of our chair
"Okay, everybody." Steph called, bringing to attention of the room to her, Jimmy, and the baby
"All right, I'd like to take a moment, if I could, to make this all about me." Danny interrupted, "It was my great-great-grand-cousin Hekekiah who said..."
We all groaned, refusing to hear the story that would surely drone on for an eternity.
"Okay, fine. I'm gonna need everybody's neck pillows back." Danny called
"Well, thank you all for being here. Everyone in this room holds a special place in our hearts. But none more so than the person we've named this baby after." Steph began
"Baby Ramona, baby Ramona, baby Ramona." Ramona quietly chanted, crossing her fingers
"You know, to be honest, I had no idea what this baby's name was gonna be 28 minutes ago. But then I realized. There's been one constant in my life. Somebody who loved me no matter what. And...every day, through his example, he showed me what it means to be a parent. So I'd like to introduce you to our daughter Danielle." Steph finished, revealing the baby named after her father
"It is about me. Thank you some much, honey." Danny smiled, giving Steph a loving kiss on the forehead
"Well, it's not just about you, Dad. You're not the only person in this room that I've looked up to my entire life. Our baby's middle name will be Jo. So...if someone someday wants to call her D.J... there'd be no better honor." Steph smiled
Dj, crying, took the baby into her arms. Steph smiled at her before revealing that she wasn't yet finished with all the surprises.
"Finally... there is one person here who... although not born into the family is as much a part of it as all of you are, and without whom... this truly would not have been possible. So our baby's godmother is Kimmy Gibbler." Steph revealed, finally done with all her surprises
"Ramona, Farrah. Whisper she-wolf howl on three." Dj called
I gently handed Tommy to Jackson, before making my way to the small group of women.
"One, two, three." DJ counted, before we all made hand ears and gave a tiny howl
"Give me Tommy back." I smiled, holding my hands out to Jackson after the group had dispersed
"I think he likes it better with me. Don't you, Tommy?" Jackson smirked, looking at the small boy in his arms
"No." Tommy replied, squirming his way into my grip
"Success." I cheered, earning a playful flick from Jackson as we made our way to the family gathered in the kitchen.
