Snow was falling. Children were laughing. Families were spending time together.
The year was coming to an end, but before that came around, that special holiday was coming around to bring smiles to everyone's faces.
This also happened to be the time you were going to spend your first Christmas with you boyfriend, Dobengal.
The two of you met after the Grand Magic Games.
You joined the guild after Sting became its new master and Sting approved of having a mage who could create illusions among his "family".
It was rather rough being around them at first, but you adjusted after spending time with the mysterious ninja of Sabertooth.
He was a man no one really knew about, but was well respected.
Because of how lost you were, Dobengal helped you out which led to your friendship.
It was nice having Dobengal as your friend.
He never forced you to do anything and always made sure you were okay with everything.
It was rather cute to see him watch over you like that.
In fact, he increased these actions after you told him your past.
To you, it wasn't bad, but to him, Dobengal found it horrible for a child to go through that.
As a child, you didn't have a choice in anything since you were the youngest out of five. Most of the choices were made by your older siblings, so choosing your favorite meal or what vacation you would have was never done by you.
Since then, Dobengal always made sure you had a choice.
Pretty soon, you took note of the boy's shy nature around you.
He would ask you questions in a shy manner as if he was bothering you even if you weren't doing anything.
It was cute.
A month after his shyness, Donbengal had finally asked you out after Sabertooth had their Thanksgiving together. You agreed, but instantly asked if you were okay with him being your boyfriend.
Really, Dobengal was too kind despite his mysterious shield.
Reaching the front door, you knocked on the door with a smile.
The door opened revealing Dobengal wearing a red sweater and some tan slacks. He had gotten all dressed up for you.
You stood there with red cheeks, a red nose, a long sleeved, green dress, white tights, and black snow boots.
"M-Merry Christmas, Doben!"
He blushed at his nickname.
Dobengal smiled.
"Come on in. I'm sure you're freezing."
You walked in seeing the Christmas tree decorated in lights and little ornaments, some with photos of the two of you together.
"Want some hot chocolate?"
"Yes please."
He went into the kitchen as you took off your boots and parked yourself by the fireplace.
You pulled out the gift from your purse with a smile.
The fireplace warmed up your feet as you admired the tree your boyfriend decorated.
Dobengal set down the hot chocolate to cuddle right behind you.
"I'm happy you agreed to spend Christmas with me."
You let out a giggle.
"Why wouldn't I? I mean, you worked so hard on the tree."
Your boyfriend let out a small grunt.
This usually meant he was blushing which only brought a smile to your face.
"So, is that for me? (First Name), I'm happy enough to spend Christmas with you. You didn't have to get me anything."
"But I wanted to. You've taken very good care of me and I'm hoping I can return the favor."
Dobengal opened the gift with you in his arms.
He blinked as he held up a scarf.
"Wow."
"It took a while to make. I could have bought one, but I decided to make one for my ninja boyfriend."
"(First Name)...please don't tease me like that."
"I could, but you blush when I call you my ninja boyfriend. It's cute!"
His blush only deepened making you giggle.
Dobengal smiled and put on the scarf.
"Well, thank you, (First Name). I love it. I'll wear it whenever it's cold."
He kissed your cheek before handing you a cup of hot chocolate.
Just holding the cup warmed up your hands.
"Would you accept a gift from me?"
"Huh? Why would you ask that? Silly, I'd accept any gift from you."
Dobengal smiled and kissed your cheek.
"Okay. Be right back."
The warmth from your back disappeared as your boyfriend left the room.
A sigh escaped your lips and you decided to take a sip of your hot chocolate.
Several minutes went by as he returned, giving warmth to your back once more.
Dobengal set your hot chocolate back on the table before showing the wrapped present before you.
"Sorry if it's not amazing. I...never had to get a gift for someone for Christmas before."
"Not even your family?"
"Our holidays aren't...normal."
"Thanksgiving at the guild wasn't normal."
"True, but my family...well hopefully you won't have to experience it one day."
"Now you're making me curious!"
He chuckled.
"Worry about it later. You have a present to open."
Pouting slightly, you focused back at the present and started to open it.
As you tore the wrapping, your eyes found itself staring at a book with your name and Dobengal's name.
In a curious manner, you opened the book to see the day you joined Sabertooth to becoming friends with Dobengal, then moved onto you two dating filled with photos and silly drawings you drew from previous dates on napkins.
Tears swelled up in your eyes.
"Dobengal...did you make this?"
"I had Rufus help me out. You know...memories and stuff."
"It's beautiful! I love it!"
Setting the book down, you turned around and kissed him.
You were so grateful to have such a caring boyfriend who would go through all this trouble to make a book of the memories you both shared together.
Dobengal chuckled as you kissed him two more times.
"You're welcome (First Name)."
You rested your head on his chest with a smile.
"I'm such a lucky girl to have a caring, cute, ninja boyfriend."
He grunted.
"A-And I'm lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend."
You blushed with a smile as the two of you cuddled before the fireplace.

A/N: I enjoyed writing this so much! I really do like Dobengal and I'm sure he would make a cute boyfriend. Plus, he does look like a ninja.
