"Honey are you still giving me the silent treatment?" Mum asks after I've totally ignored her existence for about 6 hours now "Ariana talk to me, I'm your mother and you have no right to stay mad at me or ignore me when I speak to you"
"Mum. Why didn't you tell me that Jim was coming" I finally speak up after much contemplation
"Because I wanted it to be a surprise honey. I'm sorry, I thought you'd be excited to finally have your brother back"
"Well I guess you should stop assuming. First you kept your affair with dad from me, then you hid the fact that Jim was coming over. What's next?! I mean when did you start keeping things from me"
"Oh honey, I'm sorry. I guess I shouldn't have assumed"
"Is there anything else you might probably wanna tell me? Or are you gonna keep assuming I'll be okay with it".
"Well I don't think so, but Jim is moving permanently and he's starting at Clifford high. He'll be repeating senior year. Just this final months and I've discussed everything with the principal"

"No. No mum. But why!? As if having to see dads face everyday isn't bad enough, now Jim too? And we have to go to same school! Why can't they go back to Chicago"
"Well we're trying to make things work for yours and Jim's sake"

"Just leave me alone" I say cutting her short as I run back to my room.
I'm contemplating running away to Hailey's house or somewhere they won't find me. Ughhhh! How could my mum do this to me.
I have too many problems at the moment; Jake still doesn't wanna pick my calls. and if he does, its to tell me to f**k off.
Damien keeps calling even though I told him to also f**k off.
My long lost brother is back home and my dad too

"Good morning sleepy head" Hailey says throwing herself on me with caution as my left arm is still broken
Seems I have to resume school today, despite my broken arm
"Hailey! Get off me you chicken"
"Get up. Its Monday and you don't wanna be late for your first day of school after your 3 weeks break"
"Who said I don't?" I say smirking
"Get up"
"But I don't wanna keep seeing Jim in school"
"Wait. Jim is coming to Clifford high!?"
"Yes! Can you believe it"
"I'm sorry b"
"Yeah whatever. I guess I'll have to adapt"
"Yeah so get up"
"Fine". I say getting out of my blanket. Oh it's so warm
"you have 5 minutes to shower and get your chubby ass downstairs where I'll be getting free breakfast" she says standing up from my bed
"Hailey. You could get free breakfast in your house where you live and eat for free"

While showering, I wonder how I'll react when I finally get to see Jake and talk to him. I just hope he doesn't avoid me like the plague though.
After dressing up, I apply light makeup and leave my hair to flow since I have only one useful hand right now
I come downstairs to find Hailey and Jim interacting in the kitchen while eating cereal. Betrayal!
"Hailey. Let's go" I say at the door ignoring Jim's presence
"Good morning to you too sis" he says smiling and I roll my eyes
"Honey" mum calls from behind me
"Hey mum" I say with a Moody tone. I'm still angry
"Um, since today is Jim's first day and he doesn't yet have a car, you'll drive him to school and be his tour guide"
"Why can't he take your car?"
"Because I'm gonna use it. Besides Jim doesn't know his way around this town. Please don't complain. Just do as I say"
"Whatever. Hailey let's go. Whoever is coming along better be outside now or whatever happens won't be my fault" I say walking towards the door
"Bye Mrs stones" Hailey says walking behind me
"Just give her time" I hear mom saying to Jim.
Give me time? Oh please
Me and Jim never got along so I don't see why he's tryna play nice with me right now
"Can I sit at the back with Jim?" Hailey asks with a low tone as we approach my car
"Why?"
"Well I was explaining a few things about Clifford high to him, and I wasn't done when you came downstairs"
"Hailey. Don't tell me you're gonna try to be friends with my brother"
"I don't know. He seems pretty nice Ari. Why don't you give him a chance? He's your brother after all"
"Hailey! I forbid you from being his friend okay?"
"Fine" she says automatically calling shotgun "but you'll have to show him round school since I'm forbidden"
"Whatever. It'll just be for today"
"Nice ride sis" Jim said taking in the car as he made himself comfortable at the back sit
"Thank you" I replied coldly as I ignited the engines
"Look sis, I know we only just connected after like 10 years, and we never actually got along in the past and all but can we just try to make this work? For mum and dad's sake even if not for ours"
"The only way we'd be able to make this work is if we try as much as possible to keep our distance. And only interact with each other for important reasons. You never treated me like a sister remember? So lets keep it that way yeah?"
"Okay fine. If you say so" he said shrugging.
The rest of the ride to school was quiet and awkward. I kind of felt bad for talking to him like that.
We were only kids back then and so his behavior was expected. Maybe he had actually changed and is no longer an ass.
"We're here" I say driving through the big gates that lead to Clifford high "welcome to your worst nightmare" I say parking my car in the far end of the parking lot
"The school is beautiful though" he said as he observed the environment
"It is. But the students are pretty evil" Hailey said and then sneaked a peak at me to see if I'll react, but I didn't.
"Alright, get out of the car" I said unlocking my seat belt and getting out
"So do I get to tell people we're related?" Jim asks positioning his back pack well
"Probably. They'll find out anyways"
As usual, the hallway was stained with students from different grades.
We walked into the school with heads held high as the students stopped whatever they where doing to gawk at us.
At Jim actually. Even though I hate to admit it, he's gorgeous and soon, all the girls will be after him.
I heard whispers and giggles from dumb cheap girls who had nothing better to do other than chasing cute guys
"Who is this hottie and why is he with them" a girl I recognized from my chemistry class asked another girl who was beside her
"Ignore them" I said to Jim as I noticed a little smirk crawling into his face.
Douche bag
"Omg I have to have him. He so cute!" Another junior exclaimed, a little too loud
"Has Hailey finally gotten a boyfriend? I thought she was gay" another girl said causing Hailey and I to roll our eyes
This students are just unbelievable
"I'll see you later hails, I gotta take Jim to the principals office for his schedule"
"Okay Ari. See you in geometry"
Jim was quiet the whole time as we walked to the principals office and I'm glad for that. I don't wanna have a conversation with him anyways.
"Come in" Mrs Anderson, the school principal said after I knocked once
"Good morning Mrs Anderson" I say walking in with Jim behind me
"Ariana. How are you doing? This must be your brother Jim"
"Yes he is ma'am"
"Such a handsome young man. Here's your schedule" she says handing him a paper "your locker number is in there also. Since you're new, we gave you a schedule identical to your sister's. You'll be having same classes with her, it'll help you adapt quicker
Oh. So not only do I have to see Jim's face everyday at home, I also have to see him in all my classes also. Why is this happening.
"Thanks ma'am" he says playing with the paper in his hands
"Once again, welcome to Clifford high" she says smiling even though this was her first time of saying it "I hope your stay here is wonderful"
"I hope so too" he says making eye contact with me and then we leave
"So we both have geometry" he says looking at his schedule
"As you can see"
"Okay. But first can you help me locate my locker?" I need to get some of this text books out of my bag, my back is killing me"
"Whatever"
Today is gonna be a long day.
